Revolution Harmony - We Are - Charity Single - flyer promo - July 2013

The world exclusive play of Revolution Harmony’s single We Are will air on Kerrang Radio - The Matt Stocks show on Monday June 10th at 7pm.

Revolution Harmony, the brainchild of British music lecturer/journalist Ray Holroyd, has announced the July 18th release of its debut All-Star charity single, ‘We Are.’ The song features vocals from Serj Tankian (System Of A Down) and Ihsahn (Emperor), as well as guitar solos by Devin Townsend.

Composed, arranged, programmed and produced by Ray Holroyd in Vancouver, the complex international studio project was recorded in North America, England, Norway and New Zealand, then mixed by Rohan Onraet (Slipknot, Machine Head) in London, and mastered by Ted Jensen (Green Day, Muse) in New York. The single also features Stefan Loh (We Claimed Sentience Once) on guitars, and additional vocals from the young up-and-coming UK singer Abbie Johnson.

The lyrical theme in ‘We Are’ is based on the concept behind Revolution Harmony, which is essentially the belief that musical harmony has the power to inspire a revolution towards societal harmony. The single is dedicated to Nelson Mandela and the memory of Lucky Dube, regarded as South Africa’s Bob Marley, and will be released worldwide on Mandela Day (18 July), with all proceeds donated to Buskaid, a charity that provides free music lessons and instruments to children in the townships of South Africa.

Serj Tankian speaks about his involvement with Revolution Harmony: “It has been an absolute honor being involved with the Revolution Harmony project to bring much-needed financial aid to Buskaid in South Africa. Music has saved my life and has the potential to create positive change in all those young kids struggling to make themselves heard and to survive.” He continues on the single itself: “The song is a musical collage of complex yet moving colors intertwining genres and vibes.”

Ray Holroyd comments: “Revolution Harmony is a dream come true, it’s the perfect harmonious marriage of my two callings: making music and making a positive change in the world! ‘We Are’ is the first milestone for Revolution Harmony, and to share it with three of my musical heroes, Serj, Ihsahn and Devin, who all believe in my vision, is deeply heartwarming and humbling. These musicians are overflowing with talent and compassion, and I am eternally grateful and monumentally honoured to have had them contribute to my cause by singing and playing on a piece of my music. VISION OF DISORDER Brooklyn Headlining Show Now A RED CROSS BENEFIT For Hurricane Sandy Victims

Today VISION OF DISORDER confirms that all the proceeds from their upcoming headlining concert in Brooklyn later this month will be donated to the Red Cross, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

What was simply a headlining show for the band has now been dubbed “Picking Up Change: Hardcore For Hurricane Relief.” VISION OF DISORDER initiated this act of support to their community after witnessing the catastrophic demolition across the New York metropolitan area and beyond as Sandy surged through our region on October 29th. VOD, as well as the other bands performing at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on November 24th, will contribute donations to the Red Cross to help aid the decimated areas and many displaced local residents throughout the Northeast as the season grows colder.

In a collective statement the members of VOD had this to say: “Our hearts go out to those severely affected by this tragic incident. Being from Long Island, Hurricane Sandy has (quite literally) hit home for us. The music scene in Long Island, The New York metro area and New Jersey have been so supportive to VOD over the years that we felt donating the proceeds from the Brooklyn show was a no-brainer. We are proud to announce that the opening acts (Primitive Weapons, Yuppicide, Swarm of Arrows) have also agreed to donate their proceeds. We hope that this small gesture can add to the ongoing efforts and help rebuild these traumatized areas. We look forward to seeing you all on Nov 24th to support this cause.”

In addition to the funds generated by VISION OF DISORDER, Yuppicide, Primitive Weapons and Swarm of Arrows at “Picking Up Change: Hardcore For Hurricane Relief” going directly to the Red Cross, show attendees are invited to bring supplies – canned/non-perishable food, batteries, toilet paper, etc. – for area shelters and food banks, as donation bins will be posted outside of the venue. Supplies to aid pets and animals displaced by the storm are also acceptable and will be donated to Last Resort Animal Rescue in New Jersey.

The members of VISION OF DISORDER, in an alliance with Candlelight Records, Earsplit PR, Metal Insider, the Music Hall of Williamsburg and all parties involved with this event, are reaching out to all area hardcore and metal fans to join them on November 24th, not only to take part in what is sure to be a high-action live show, but more importantly to help contribute to this imperative objective of getting the displaced families and businesses back on their feet. Doors open at 7:30pm.

Hurricane Sandy – These Charitable Organizations Are Providing Relief During The Aftermath

Hurricane Sandy – The second storm of the century in only two years is finally gone. The storm labeled as Frankenstorm has left unbearable paths of destruction to view on the network and cable news. Hurricane Sandy has ruined countless people’s lives on the East Coast, with many areas of New Jersey and New York looking like the end of the world. As I view the aftermath news footage, I cannot envision such a nightmare being inflicted upon my family. However, this has all been a stern reminder, to me, that mother nature doesn’t choose favorites.

The sadness I feel for the people who have been affected by this evil storm has prompted me to shout-out and applaud the charitable organizations that are currently helping with this unimaginable aftermath. People have died and too many people have lost their homes and jobs, as a result from this super storm. This is a time to reach into your heart and donate whatever you can to the charities I’ve listed below. Every act of kindness right now matters for the people directly affected by Hurricane Sandy, even if it’s only a dollar donation.

My family and I were extremely blessed to have not lost power like our neighbors have; (last year’s Hurricane Irene and the follow-up ice storm were different stories for us). As I drove around my area of Eastern Pennsylvania, I couldn’t believe the unbelievable lines of people waiting for ice, coffee and pizza at the very few establishments that were open. Just around the corner from our house are a Dunkin’ Donuts and Pizza Hut and both were (as of yesterday) the only stops for such comforts as food and hot drink in this (immediate) area.

Many charities will accept clothing and non-perishable food too. Don’t forget our animal friends as well! Pet food always makes for an alternative way to donate. There are many, many charitable organizations out there that I have not listed. Local food banks and shelters can always benefit from your donation(s). Please make sure that any charity that solicits you by phone or door is reputable! Too often during times of disaster, immoral people are out there to scam the innocent; so be certain the personal check you hand over to someone is truly looking out for the cause.

Please remember, Hurricane Sandy was an international storm as well, leaving a path of sorrow and devastation to the country of Haiti.

DEF LEPPARD LEAD GUITARIST – PHIL COLLEN – To Auction Custom Guitar For Charity; All Proceeds To Be Donated To The GERSON INSTITUTE Supporting A Holistic Cancer Therapy

Guitar Played Exclusively Throughout Def Leppard “Rock of Ages” Tour This Summer

(Los Angeles, CA) –PHIL COLLEN, lead guitarist for the iconic rock band DEF LEPPARD, announces plans for a charitable auction of “Wings”, a custom Jackson PC1 guitar that Collen has played throughout this summer’s Rock of Ages tour.  The auction, taking place exclusively on eBay, will begin on September 5th and end September 14th, the last date of the tour.  The winner will be announced in November which is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month and all proceeds from the auction will benefit the Gerson Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the Gerson Therapy, an alternative treatment for cancer and other degenerative diseases.

In early 2012, Jake Willoughby, a guitar and music store owner, asked Collen if he would assist in helping to raise money towards the fight against cancer with Jake’s mother having just passed away from pancreatic cancer after a courageous 13-month fight.  By tragic coincidence Phil’s own father, Kenneth succumbed to the same disease in 2004.  Jake donated a Collen signature guitar, the Jackson PC1 from his music store. In the spirit of hope it was named “Wings”.  Mike Learn, a noted artist whose graphics are well-known in the guitar world, donated the graphic custom paint job on the guitar.  Ironically, Mike lost two family members to the same disease.

Phil began researching companies that were not only looking to prevent cancer, but also reverse its devastating effects.  He initially had heard about The Gerson Institute located in San Diego, CA from Jeni Cook, a raw foods chef and the wife of Sex Pistols and Manraze drummer, Paul Cook.  As Phil watched “The Gerson Miracle” DVD he was incredibly moved by their cause wishing he would have known about them before his father passed. The Gerson Institute is a non-profit organization in San Diego, California dedicated to providing education and training in the Gerson Therapy – an alternative, non-toxic treatment for cancer and other chronic degenerative diseases. The Gerson Therapy, developed by Dr. Max Gerson in the 1920s, activates the body’s extraordinary ability to heal itself through an organic, vegetarian diet, raw juices, detoxification, and natural supplements. March 1st, 2012 - Dan Spitz, founder and former guitar player for Anthrax and current creator of Red Lamb, and his wife Candi as well as their twin four-year-old boys are raising awareness of the life-changing effects of Autism by participating in this Sunday’s Walk Now for Autism Speaks at City Commons in West Palm Beach, Fla.

“Autism is what makes our children special, we do not see it as a disability. They are beautiful, intelligent, silly and we love that they see the world differently,” explains Candi Spitz, who is also on the committee for Autism Speaks. The couple’s four-year-old twin songs Autism diagnosis has given the Spitz family a mission to do all they can for not only their children but the 1 in 110 U.S. children currently diagnosed with the disease.

The entire Spitz family will be walking at the Mar. 4 Walk Now For Autism Speaks event and will film portions of a documentary on their sons at the event. The currently untitled documentary is being produced by SheKnows.com, a prominent parenting website that won both a 2010 and 2011 OMMA Award for Excellence.

Dan Spitz formed Red Lamb in 2010 and recently released a self-titled debut album co-produced with Dave Mustaine (Megadeth). Spitz and Mustaine also co-wrote the song “Puzzle Box” for the release; a video for the track is in the works with footage from Sunday’s event being included. Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson) oversaw all programming for the album. Vrenna and Spitz are also working on a side project with more details to be announced shortly.  The first video from Red Lamb is for the song “The Cage,” which can be seen here:

WITHIN TEMPTATION – To Play Unplugged Show For Pinktober Charity

Within Temptation will be performing an unplugged set at the Hard Rock Café in Cologne, Germany on November 17, in support of the “Pinktober” charity campaign to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.

The performance will take place at 4 PM local time, and will be followed by a signing session. Tickets for this event cost 10 Euros, and will be sold exclusively at Hard Rock Café’s Rock Shop in Cologne.

The first 20 visitors who present a ticket for Within Temptation‘s E-Werk concerts in Cologne on November 16 and November 17 will be granted free admission to the performance at Hard Rock Café.

Singer Sharon den Adel said, “Breast cancer remains one of the most common life-threatening cancers affecting women: One out of eight women will get breast cancer in her life. Every 13 minutes a woman dies of breast cancer. It is therefore very important to keep a high awareness level of the subject in the general public. I am very happy to make a small contribution with my band to a regular event such as Hard Rock Café’s Pinktober campaign.”
