Bad Company - debut album cover - 1974 - promo pic - #0626MONASOAFD

I believe I once wrote about the 1974 debut and S/T studio album from BAD COMPANY before. If I did, it definitely wasn’t this detailed, as you shall see. Whatever. I did not bother to look up if I did write about it, for I love this album so much anyways. In this post, I have utilized the legitimate facts about this album from a most reliable source: Classic Rock Magazine: Bad Co. – Limited Edition Collector’s Pack. This special edition was released back in 2014 and it also came with a Bad Company DVD (an authorized 40th Anniversary Documentary). Photos of the Bad Company band members were also inserted into this Collector’s Pack too, suitable for framing! How cool is that?

Listen To Can’t Get Enough, Below! Whoa!

My does this Bad Company debut have a delectable menu of Hard Rock hits and I can NEVER get sick of them! Here they are: Can’t Get Enough, Rock Steady, Ready For Love, Bad Company, et cetera. Timeless songs all. Want an example as to why these songs are timeless? Just listen to the cover version of Bad Company by Five Finger Death Punch. Talk about an explosive and psyche-you-out-of-your-skull cover song! Heck, the FFDP cover version of Bad Company has been in the iTunes Top Ten Metal Songs Chart for what seems forever!

Recently, I told my co-workers that the FFDP cover version is better than the original! I must be insane for thinking and saying that! May the Classic Rock Gods forgive me. Still, it is an extreme rarity when I do side with a cover version of any song. Don’t get me wrong, the original Bad Company song still makes me feel like a super bad-ass too.

Bad Company - Classic Rock Magazine - Collectors Pack - 2014 - #33MMSAMBS9939OT

Above is source I referred to: Classic Rock MagazineLimited Edition Collector’s Pack (2014)

I first heard Bad Company on the FM dial and this was well before Heavy Metal changed my life for the better. I did not own this Bad Company album until I bought it on cassette; it was somewhere around the beginning of the 80’s decade when Foreigner, QueenREO Speedwagon, STYX, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Blue Oyster Cult and KISS were the heaviest bands I knew about, listened to and purchased on an analog medium. This Bad Company album, like an endless list of others, just makes me feel so doggone good. I recommend this album to any person, young or old, that is just starting to listen to Classic Hard Rock. Bad Company should come with a required listening sticker on its CD cover, for craps sake.

As for the band, what more can I say that already has been said? Yes, supergroup. On this Bad Company album, former Free frontman Paul Rodgers, Drummer Simon Kirke (Free), guitarist Mick Ralphs (Mott the Hoople) and bassist Boz Burrell (King Crimson) come across as having that musical chemistry that cannot be bought or sold at any price. Sometimes I wonder if this band knew how incredible their sound and songs were, while recording this album! Kinda gives me the Classic Rock chills, you know?

Here is the complete track listing for Bad Company: Can’t Get Enough, Rock Steady, Ready For Love, Don’t Let Me Down, Bad Company, The Way I Choose, Movin’ On, Seagull. It’s amazing how only 8 songs can make this album so complete! With today’s standards, 8 songs would be called an EP. I think so, anyways. Here is how popular this Bad Company album was, after its release: #3 in the UK and #1 in the USA. Jumping jolly ranchers!

Did You Know? - Banner - Metal Odyssey - 0704SLNASAMOTT

The sales of Bad Company has an impressive history like this: 5X Platinum and among the Top 50 best-selling albums of the 70’s decade! Whoa! Plus, that’s without Pro Tools. Below are some more facts about this album; some of you may find it exciting, while others may not. Those who don’t care about this stuff are members of The Ex-Lax Fan Club anyways. Enjoy:

  • Record Label: Island (UK) and Swan Song (World)
  • Swan Song was the imprint record label of the iconic Led Zeppelin.
  • A song from Paul Rodgers, Superstar Woman, was not included on this Bad Company album. This song was later included on Paul Rodgers 1982 solo studio album: Cut Loose.
  • A Free song, Easy On My Soul, was covered for the B-side to the hit single 45rpm of Can’t Get Enough. The original Easy On My Soul song is featured on the sixth and last Free studio album from 1973: Heartbreaker.
  •  Bad Company was produced by Bad Company and engineer Ron Nevison.
  • Bad Company was released back in June of 1974.
  • Bad Company was recorded during November of 1973 at Headley Grange, Hampshire.

House Of Lords - Indestructible - promo album cover pic - 2015

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of HOUSE OF LORDS tenth studio album, aptly entitled INDESTRUCTIBLE on June 3rd in Europe, June 6th in the UK and June 7th in North America.

The new album shows once again what HOUSE OF LORDS stands for: powerful and heavy songs, with major hooks and melodies and grandiose arrangements. “The name Indestructible was chosen because we all felt that we have been through a lot in our long careers and what better way to say “Hey, I’m still Here” than by giving the cd a BOLD title,” says singer James Christian.

Indestructible features eleven brand new songs, which masterfully combine the best of Heavy and Melodic Hard Rock. “The album is heavier in the beginning, but we love songs that are both Melodic and Heavy” continues Christian, “and the idea was to fill the best of both on one cd without sounding like two different bands. I think we have accomplished that. A good example would be the song “Pillar of Salt” especially gives a good representation of how the new album sounds: a combination of heavy, melodic, and thoughtful lyrics. This song is one of my favorites!”

Besides being House of Lords tenth studio album, the new record sees the new line-up celebrating their first ten years together. “It is amazing to work with BJ, Chris and Jimi” tells James Christian, “they are all very aware of what HOUSE OF LORDS represents and they are committed to making records that complement the history of the band. No matter which HOUSE OF LORDS album you listen to, there is a common thread, which comes from the fact that the four of us are musically in sync. This is the real reason why we have been able to produce records of this calibre”.

House of Lords will exclusively appear at the Frontiers Rock Festival in Trezzo (MI) next Sunday, April 12 and start a European tour in September, with a very special surprise show to be announced. More details soon!

Indestructible track listing includes: Go To Hell; Indestructible; Pillar Of Salt; 100 Mph; Call My Bluff; We Will Always Be One; Die To Tell; Another Dawn; Eye Of The Storm; Ain’t Suicidal; Stand And Deliver.

Nelson - Peace Out - promo album cover pic - 2015 - #05NMOPO33

New Studio Album Returns Band To Classic Melodic Rock Format.

To Be Released By Frontiers Music Srl May 15th in Europe, May 19th in North America.

Pre-order on here:

In their 25-year career as a musical duo, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, collectively known simply as Nelson, have grown from pop music idols to seasoned songwriters and performers. Now, as the brothers celebrate a quarter century at the forefront of the international music scene, they return with Peace Out, their most ambitious studio album to date.

Set for release in Europe on May 15th and North America on May 19th by Frontiers Music Srl, PEACE OUT marks a return to the well crafted songs that put the band at the top of the Billboard charts in the 1990s. From the anthemic “Invincible” to the rollicking soon-to-be classic “Back In the Day”, PEACE OUT is quintessential Nelson from start to finish.

“We set a pretty high standard with our previous release with Frontiers – Lightning Strikes Twice. That record received by far the most critical acclaim of any Nelson record to date… Peace Out was expected to be even BETTER, so the goal was to push ourselves to very limit- past what we believed we could do,” says Gunnar Nelson. “We wanted to write and record the most exciting, authentic, uplifting, and rockin’ Nelson record ever made! The mission: to make a classic.”

The brothers have always had their work cut out for themselves, being the third generation in one of America’s most celebrated entertainment families, who came into US households every week from 1952 through 1966 on the ABC sitcom, The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet. Their grandfather, Ozzie Nelson, was a celebrated big band leader, whose orchestra featured their grandmother, Harriet; and their late father, Ricky, was one of Rock’n’Roll’s earliest superstars, a member of The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, and generally credited with creating the country-rock format.

When the Nelson twins burst onto the music scene with their own Billboard #1 hit “(I Can’t Live Without Your) Love & Affection,” in 1990, they set a Guinness World Record by being the only family to have three generations of #1 hits on the charts!

Nelson has gone on to release a half-dozen Rock albums selling nearly 7 million records, beginning with the multi-platinum After The Rain. Peace Out marks their fourth release on Frontiers since 2010. Look for Nelson to embark on a world tour upon the new album’s release. “We’re putting the live show together as we speak… And it will incorporate the very best live songs from our career… Focusing heavily on the PEACE OUT album,” says Gunnar.

The Nelsons have worked in a number of musical styles including pop, hard rock and even country. Now, Peace Out takes them to the musical home they have known the best: harmony-driven pop rock whose melodies are as infectious as they are lasting.

Peace Out – Track Listing:

1. Hello Everybody
2. Back In The Day
3. Invincible
4. Let It Ride
5. I Wanna Stay Home
6. On The Bright Side
7. Rockstar
8. Autograph
9. What’s Not To Love?
10. You And Me

Mike Campese - Chameleon - promo cover pic - 2014

The long-awaited eighth studio release from Mike Campese is finally here!

Mike Campese is back with a new solo release, titled Chameleon. This is Mike’s 8th solo Cd, it contains 12 new tracks and it is a little over 60 minutes. This Cd really packs a punch! If you heard Mike’s previous Cd’s you will realize that he has really honed his writing and musicianship. The first track “To the 9’s” is slamming, it’s a blistering tune with incredible melody and alone it is worth the price of the Cd. Not only is Mike a guitar virtuoso, but he does sing on a few tracks on this disc as well.

The title track “Chameleon” has some real nice haunting melodies and some nice lush vocal harmonies. There is some serious shredding on this Cd and plenty of melody as well. With the blistering guitar and the Paganini inspired section in the tune “Raise the Bow” and the multiple meter changes in the song “Pasta and Bananas” that progressive rock fans will love. Mike returns with his blues roots on the tune “She Burnt the House Down”, which has some incredible soaring leads that are in your face and some real nice vocal melodies.

Campese gets funky on this Cd as well, the tunes “Funky Monkey Man” and “Firefly in a Bottle”, feature some pretty awesome funk grooves and some nice vocal lines. If you have been following Mike’s music and career, you will know that Mike is known for his great sense of melody and melodic shredding on the guitar. A perfect example of this is the tune “Flashback”, this beautiful ballad was inspired when Mike was living in Hollywood and attending Mi. “Vegas”(playing the slots) is probably one of the most unique tunes on the Cd. When you are listening to this song, you will think you are in Vegas playing a slot machine. Now lets cross the Pacific Ocean, the Hawaiian volcano inspired tune “Kilauea” erupts with some incredible guitar lines with some in your face guitars.

For the first time on any Mike Campese Cd, Mike has a very special guest, his friend and guitar legend, Vernon Reid of Living Colour. Mike and Vernon are trading off with some crazy solos at the end of the jazzy tune “Do it for the Cats” Mike is a very versatile guitarist and on each Cd he incorporates a little jazz and other styles in his music, which makes him known as a musical Chameleon. The last tune “Meant to Be” is another jazzy tune with a great groove and some very catchy melodies. Mike Campese fans are going to love this Cd and it is the one they have been waiting for.

CHAMELEON embodies the entire essence and culmination of Mike’s years of experience as a composer, guitarist, songwriter and of course includes plenty of serious guitar shredding.

Mike’s upcoming Italy Clinics, Melodic Shred Lessons and hard-hitting progressive rock Music can be seen, heard and PURCHASED NOW here at his Official Website:

From Pink Floyd’s Money to Black Sabbath’s War Pigs, these classics are celebrated to the highest degree of vocal and musical excellence! Tim “Ripper” Owens essentially kills it, on the cover of War Pigs. Whoa!

If I have come across as spellbound by this compilation from Michael Schenker & Friends, there is plenty of solid reasoning.
