Arch Enemy - Kreator - war eternal - American tour - promo flyer - 2014

Earlier this week, Metal icons ARCH ENEMY unleashed their new album, War Eternal, across the world, with critics hailing it as their “strongest album in years” (Decibel Magazine). To kick-off the War Eternal campaign, the band launched an extensive European tour, which is currently underway through the rest of the year. In addition to these dates, ARCH ENEMY will also make their much-anticipated return to North American soil this October/November! Featuring KREATOR, HUNTRESS, and STARKILL as support, this headlining trek will be the band’s first tour in the States since 2011—and the first US tour to feature new members Alissa White-Gluz (vocals) and Nick Cordle (guitar)!

ARCH ENEMY’s Michael Amott (guitar) comments: “It’s been three long years since ARCH ENEMY last played North America, but now the wait is over! We’re riding a veritable metal tsunami in Europe with our new album ‘War Eternal’ and look forward to spreading the chaos on this N.A. run! ARCH ENEMY is very proud and excited to be teaming up with Teutonic thrash titans KREATOR as well as HUNTRESS and STARKILL! Miss this show at your own peril!”

KREATOR’s Mille Petrozza (vocals, guitar) adds: “Both bands have been talking about touring together for many years, now it becomes reality: KREATOR and ARCH ENEMY on one bill in the USA and Canada! We are looking forward to another killer run in support of our album ‘Phantom Antichrist’ before we will start writing new stuff in 2015! With ARCH ENEMY’s new album ‘War Eternal’ being a monster, this will be THE metal tour of the fall. Don’t miss it!”

KREATOR – EUROPEAN TOUR 2014 Announced! Arch Enemy, Sodom And Vader To Support!

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, music news, rock music, rock music news, world news with tags , , , , , , , on April 16, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

Kreator - European Tour 2014 - promo flyer

Following the release of last year’s highly acclaimed and critically hailed live DVD/Blu-ray Dying Alive, German Thrash Metal giants KREATOR now announce a tour for November/December 2014, leading the true “Hordes Of Chaos” throughout Europe as headliners and with them a real high-class selection of bands.

Joining KREATOR for the upcoming live shenanigans are Polish label mates VADER, Swedish death metal masters ARCH ENEMY and German Thrash veterans SODOM.

Frontman Mille Petrozza comments:

“A lot of our European fans voiced their discontent over the fact that the band hardly does European club tours – apart from our festival shows. In 2013 we were mainly busy playing for our fans overseas. We want to change this now. In time for the reissues of Endless Pain, Pleasure To Kill and Extreme Aggression, in all kinds of formats – finally on vinyl again too – we`ll end the Phantom Antichris tour cycle in Europe with a massive string of shows. This will be your last chance to see KREATOR live in clubs for quite a while, because we`ll be busy working on a new album in 2015 and only play carefully selected shows. Right now we`re working on a new multimedia stage show and we`ll also have a bunch of surprises in the setlist. Our friends of ARCH ENEMY are part of the trek to present their new album War Eternal, and so will VADER and our old companions SODOM. This tour will be KILLER!!!”

ARCH ENEMY “KHAOS LEGIONS” – Releases In U.S. June 7th, 2011: New Album Is Scalding And Delivers The Metal Offensive!

Posted in Death Metal, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, melodic death metal, metal music, metal odyssey, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on June 2, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

ARCH ENEMY – Releasing in the U.S. on June 7th, 2011, is the eighth studio album from ARCH ENEMY. This Swedish Melodic Death Metal band is on fire once again with KHAOS LEGIONS, leaving no door open for posers to enter and re-establishing why they are living Metal legends. Angela Gossow reaffirms her glorious position as one of this genre’s greatest vocalists, while the Amott brothers (Christopher and Michael) cement their status as one of Metal’s all-time finest guitar duos.

ARCH ENEMY also covers four Metal classics from KISS, Europe, Dream Evil and Hardcore Punk legends: Discharge. This second CD of covers is available on the Deluxe Edition/Media Book Versions. ARCH ENEMY delivers the Metal goods covering these songs, I wish they chose a dozen more! KHAOS LEGIONS is a formidable follow-up to 2007′s Rise of the Tyrant and I was never expecting anything less from ARCH ENEMY.

If your looking to be stomped into Metal submission, while simultaneously begging for NO Metal mercy, I strongly suggest you buy KHAOS LEGIONS and thank the Metal Gods of our Metal Underworld… that ARCH ENEMY is unleashed and will not be contained!

ARCH ENEMY:

Angela Gossow – vocals

Michael Amott – guitars

Christopher Amott – guitars

Sharlee D’Angelo – bass

Daniel Erlandsson – drums

Yesterday Is Dead and Gone

Bloodstained Cross

Under Black Flags We March

No Gods, No Masters

City of the Dead

Through The Eyes of a Raven

Cult of Chaos

Thorns In My Flesh

Turn To Dust (instrumental)

Vengeance Is Mine

Secrets

ARCH ENEMY – “Revolution Begins” EP – has a Queensryche cover song, Death Metal style!

25021-1Arch Enemy is one of my favorite Death Metal bands. Brutally heavy from every musical angle, yet still melodic, Arch Enemy needs no introduction to die hard Metal and Death Metal fans. For those new fans of Arch Enemy who are still looking to purchase a CD from their Death Metal catalog, a great starting point that will not set you back a ton of loot, is their EP “Revolution Begins”, (released on August 31, 2007). This EP was released in 2007 to promote their studio album “Rise Of The Tyrant”, (released on September 25, 2007). EP’s or CD singles, (as they are sometimes referred as), are a cool opportunity to own a few songs of a Metal band, (a Metal test run for fans, if you will). If you are like me, EP’s are a must to own – especially EP’s of my favorite bands. These EP’s more often than not, include studio and/or live songs that are not found on any regular studio or live album. “Revolution Begins” includes the cover of the Queensryche classic – “Walk In The Shadows”. This cover version from Arch Enemy, thrills me just as high as the original version from the great Queensryche. I am Metal serious about that. I revere the Queensryche original, still I revere this Arch Enemy version too. Arch Enemy gives “Walk In The Shadows” a darker, more creepy sense about it… Death Metal style.

Angela Gossow on lead vocals is nothing short of amazing. Angela is a Metal favorite of mine, she can sing Death Metal just as great as most of her male peers in this genre. In my Metal opinion, Angela Gossow raises “Walk In The Shadows” to an entirely new Metal level… an intensified and dark infested, Death Metal cover version it is. I can’t just listen to this version once, I usually listen to it multiple times and it serves me right. The legendary Michael Amott on lead and rhythm guitar, manifests his Death Metal sound all over the songs found on this EP. Christopher Amott, (the younger brother of Michael Amott), provides the second punch of Death Metal crunch, with his lead and rhythm guitar exploits. If a double dose of brilliant Death Metal guitar is what you are hankering for… the Amott brothers provide it on a Metal platter with Arch Enemy.

Daniel Erlandsson, the mainstay drummer for Arch Enemy, is always a treat for me to listen to, with his bombastic proficiency. Sharlee D’Angelo plays a formidable bass, rounding out the Arch Enemy lineup. The lead single “Revolution Begins”, “Blood On Your Hands” and a live version of “I Am Legend/Out For Blood” round out this EP. This Arch Enemy EP/CD can be found at Century Media Records online – CMdistro.com. For three bucks, it is one of the healthiest doses of Death Metal you can possibly digest for the price.

10 Heavy Metal happenings that will never happen.

metalodyssey3Every once in awhile, well, I tend to be slightly comedic. What better way to get away from the white useless noise of MSNBC than to have some comic relief that incorporates Heavy Metal? Here are some Heavy Metal happenings that will never, ever, happen in a million Metal years:

#1.   A live Cannibal Corpse concert held in Salt Lake City, Utah, will be aired on PBS this fall.

#2.   The Grammy Awards of 2010, will recognize Motorhead with a lifetime achievement award.

#3.   The American Music Awards will have Iced Earth perform live, on their stage, for their 2010 airing.

#4.   Al Gore will finally admit to Dee Snider that Heavy Metal will not corrupt our youth.

#5.   Oprah Winfrey will have King Diamond on her show, delving into the mystique of horror lyrics in Metal.

#6.   Dan Rather will travel with Motley Crue this Summer, documenting and narrating for film – “Crue Fest 2009″.

#7.   Keith Olberman of MSNBC fame will become the new host for MTV’s “Headbangers Ball” beginning this fall.

#8.   Chris Matthews of MSNBC fame will finally accept the role to play “Aunt Bea” in the new television remake of “The Andy Griffith Show.” David Lee Roth will accept the opportunity to redo the famous show opening whistling song.

#9.    North American concert promoters will announce that Power Metal festivals will be abundant and year long events in all 50 states!

#10.  Dr. Phil will have Arch Enemy perform on his show. Dr. Phil will then admit to his tongue tied audience that Death Metal is “good, clean, mental therapy.”
