Zombiefication - At The Caves Of Eternal - promo cover pic!

Mexican corpse-walkers ZOMBIEFICATION have their second full-length album, At the Caves of Eternal, out now in North America via Pulverised Records.

This putrid masterpiece was recorded at Revolution Studios with Jesús Bravo handling engineering duties and then sent to Necromorbus Studios in Sweden (Watain, Demonical, Desultory, etc) for mixing and mastering under the helm of Tore Stjerna. At the Caves of Eternal comes on the heels of last year’s five-song EP, Reaper’s Consecration.

To stream At the Caves of Eternal in full and purchase a digital download of the album, visit pulverised.bandcamp.com

Jewel case CDs are available at http://www.pulverised.bigcartel.com

Media Praise:

“…prepare for a delectable feast of old school Death Metal that not only remains both catchy yet punishingly heavy throughout but also incorporates slower more methodical and sinister moments, darker and colder segments that border on Black Metal influence and the constant presence of a band who totally dominate their sound and style.” [10/10] – Destructive Music

“…obscured and rotten death metal with classic dark vibes.” – Zombie Ritual Zine

After 3 decades of sickness, the 2 piece maggot eating death machine known as ZOMBIEFICATION is ready to crawl out of the grave with disgust. Soon they will take over the graveyard and unite the dead for the unholy ceremony. Few have been to the encounters so far, but the new age of putrid Death Metal will stench the world. Welcome to the gates, to the gates of the Underworld. Only stench is real!

KATAKLYSM – ALBUM TITLE ANNOUNCED!

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on April 6, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Kataklysm - large logo

Montreal based Death Metal powerhouse, KATAKLYSM, have been quietly working on new material for the past several months for their long-awaited follow-up to the highly successful Heaven’s Venom album.

“Well it’s been a seriously busy ride since our last album Heaven’s Venom was released over 3 years ago,” commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono. “From a successful world headlining run, to Ozzfest, into a recap of our 20 years as band with the Iron Will DVD. We’ve been writing in a very humble fashion behind the scenes for the last six months. It’s time to take KATAKLYSM to higher levels and dig deep into our capacities as musicians and songwriters. We know exactly what we have to do, that’s why we have taken our time and why we’ll be taking most of the Summer to complete the new album. The record will deal lyrically with mortality and the purpose of ones being on this earth. The moment we are born we start to die. It’s a sort of deal we make with life, and with that I title the new KATAKLYSM album Waiting for the End to Come.”

Waiting for the End to Come is tentatively scheduled for a late 2013 / early 2014 release. The album will be recorded by guitarist Jean Francois Dagenais and mixed by Zeuss (SUFFOCATION, HATEBREED, ARSIS)

As previously reported, KATAKLYSM guitarist and longtime producer Jean-François Dagenais (MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX, DESPISED ICON, EX DEO) will once again helm the new record. The band is scheduled to enter JFD studio in Montreal and Dallas in June/July.

Revel In Flesh - Manifested Darkness - promo cover pic

The good folks at DeathMetal.Org have taken a sledgehammer to the face of false metal by streaming a brand new track from the forthcoming album from REVEL IN FLESH. The song, entitled Dominate the Rotten, comes off the band’s forthcoming sophomore release, Manifested Darkness and is currently cracking skulls at http://deathmetal.org/.

Harnessing the momentum created by the album that Teeth of the Divine’s Erik Thomas called “the best of a recent impressive run of the style,” Manifested Darkness ups the ante and goes for the jugular. The album is sure to be considered one of 2013′s best classic Death Metal releases.

The CD and digital download will be unleashed on April 12th by FDA Rekotz and contains nine hammering new hymns of destruction plus one special bonus track exclusive to the CD version. The LP version will be out on April 26th and will include an additional bonus track. The artwork for Manifested Darkness was created by the Spanish artist Juanjo Castellano. Ten METAL Albums I Cannot Live Without

__________________________________

You know which Metal albums you can’t possibly live without! Those are the Metal albums you turn to so often, they feel like they’re a part of you! Metal albums that I can’t live without are just like Metal Buddies; they’re always there to lean on and hang out with! Here is a list of ten Metal albums I can’t live without.

This list is a part one, cause in reality, there are probably a few hundred more Metal albums that I couldn’t live without! By no means is this my top ten Metal albums of all time; in essence, what this list represents is a grand starting point for me! Therefore, a part two, three, four and more to this topic will most likely happen! Hallelujah and ring that Metal bell!

This list of Metal albums are in no particular order, other than I can’t live without them. I hope you enjoy this list and feel free to add your Metal albums you can’t live without via a comment. Metal be thy name!

As shown at the top of this post, Heaven And Hell (1980) from the Ronnie James Dio era Black Sabbath is a keeper for life. Whoa.

PANTERA "Cowboys From Hell"

PANTERA – Cowboys From Hell (1990)

Metallica - Master Of Puppets promo album pic #2!

Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - promo cover pic!

BLACK SABBATH – Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1974 U.S. Release)

BLACK SABBATH could very well be THE band that started METAL in the first place. It sure wasn’t Air Supply or The Carpenters that invented Metal. (That last sentence was funny, wasn’t it?)

Satyricon - The Age Of Nero - large promo album pic!

SATYRICON – The Age Of Nero (2008)

A METAL BONUS ADDITION TO THIS LIST! YES, IT’S KISS!

KISS - Destroyer - Promo Album Pic #2!

KISS – Destroyer (1976)

Yes, “back in the day” KISS was as close to Metal as Alice Cooper, Uriah Heep, UFO and Ted Nugent were. That’s my Metal opinion anyways!

Compiling this first installment of Ten Metal Albums I Can’t Live Without was (gulp) fun! You can count on me to continue onward with this Metal topic! It’s too enticing a Metal topic to ignore!

SKELETAL REMAINS – FDA Rekotz To Release SKELETAL REMAINS’ Beyond The Flesh On November 9th

Posted in Metal with tags , , , , , on October 11, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

After a phenomenal demo tape, California Death Metallers SKELETAL REMAINS will release their first full-length album, Beyond the Flesh, through FDA Rekotz on November 9th (UK release is December 3rd) in CD, digital, and vinyl LP formats.

Beyond The Flesh will launch you right back to that storied era and leave you breathless.

INCANTATION – Reveal Artwork And Track Listing For: Vanquish in Vengeance

Posted in Death Metal, death metal albums, death metal bands, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on October 10, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

US Death Metal pioneers INCANTATION have revealed the cover art and track listing for their anticipated new album, Vanquish in Vengeance.

The long-awaited followup to 2006′s Primordial Domination, Vanquish in Vengeance carries a recurring lyrical theme that addresses the countless acts of genocide in the name of religion throughout our history.

Guitarist/vocalist John McEntee comments:

“The title track is about the massacre of Saxons in the town of Verdun in 782, called on by order of King Charlemagne. As an album title it has a different meaning to me. Vanquish in Vengeance symbolizes the long history of the band. We have fought many battles over the years to keep things going. We have always stayed true to our original vision and have never caved into trends. After a long wait between albums we are back with a vengeance with some of our darkest and heaviest material to date.”

Vanquish in Vengeance was recorded at Mars Studio with Bill Korecky and mixed by Dan Swano at Unisound Studios.

INCANTATION – Comments On Recent Tour; Reveals New Album Title

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on August 24, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

After a successful trek through Brazil with IMMOLATION and European summer festival campaign, Death Metal pioneers INCANTATION are back in the U.S. to wrap up work on their long-awaited eighth album. The band had this to say about the tour:

Guitarist/vocalist John McEntee:I would like to thank everyone on behalf of INCANTATION for making this festival run our most successful to date. To get the opportunity to play for so many diehard death metal fans was absolutely amazing. We are especially thankful to all our supporters for giving us a warm welcome at all the festivals, you guys were amazing and totally raging every day. Most of all we would like to thank Sam Inzerra [Mortician / Funerus] for doing a phenomenal job filling in for Kyle  on drums. Without you this run would probably not be able to happen.”

Bassist Chuck Sherwood:To the hoards of thousands that littered the fests of this past run. Old friends and new, brothers whom we shared a stage, and the  unmatched support of the staff of each fest respectively. It’s my hope that our performance reflected the metal rage that you gave us, Hails!

Live footage of INCANTATION performing at Motocultor Festival 2012 in France is seen below!

In other news, the band has revealed that their forthcoming release will be a concept album entitled Vanquish In Vengeance. Expect a November release via Listenable Records.

McEntee comments: “The title track is about the massacre of Saxons in the town of Verdun in 782, called on by order of King Charlemagne. As an album title it has a different meaning to me. Vanquish in Vengeance symbolizes the long history of the band. We have fought many battles over the years to keep things going. MASACHIST – Reveal Initial Details On Forthcoming Album; New Track Posted

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Extreme Metal, extreme music, Heavy Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on July 9, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Polish Death Metal squad MASACHIST have just completed work on their second full-length, Scorned. The anticipated follow-up to the band’s 2009-released Death March Fury was recorded in mid-2011 at Monroe Sound Studio, with final production touches taken care by guitarist Aro. Featuring nine brutal and intricate songs, Scorned will be released worldwide by Selfmadegod Records on September 3rd, 2012.

MASACHIST‘s leader Thrufel comments on the album: “I’m really glad that after a long silence I can finally give you some details regarding our much-anticipated new album. Scorned is 40 minutes of your agony, another relentless death march. You could say that the new album is a natural evolution of our style. This time the songs are much more demanding than those heard on our previous one, while still retaining their primal brutality. Yes, we are still playing 100% Death Metal Kurwa Maæ!”

The album’s cover art and album details for Scorned will be revealed in the weeks ahead. For now, hear the opening track, the punishing “The Process of Elimination,” RIGHT HERE.
MASACHIST was formed in 2005 by Thrufel (ex-Azarath, ex-Yattering) and Daray (Dimmu Borgir, ex-Vader, Vesania), and later on joined by Heinrich (Vesania, ex-Decapitated, ex-UnSun), Aro (Shadows Land, Torquemada) and Pig (Anal Stench, ex-Decapitated). The band recorded its debut full-length Death March Fury which has since received excellent feedback both from Metal press and the fans around the globe.

Kick your weekend off in ghoulish style with a stream of “I Am The Reaper,” taken from ZOMBIEFICATION’s latest platter of Death Metal delectables, Reaper’s Consecration. Slated for a North American takeover via Pulverised Records on August 14, the EP was mixed and mastered at Necromorbus Studios (Watain, Interment, Demonical, etc.) in Sweden and features artwork/layout direction by ZOMBIEFICATION throat Mr. Hitch.

Having risen from the grave in 2009 following the release of their debut, Midnight Stench, ZOMBIEFICATION wasted no time in concocting a venomous brew that makes up Reaper’s Consecration.

Underground blog critics in-the-now have already hailed the EP’s putrid, old-school DM soul. Skull Fracturing Metal calls Reaper’s Consecration, “a great five-track representation of some of the finest Swedeath worshiping in the Americas (which also goes to show that Pulverised Records has some awesome taste),” Metal Odyssey describes it as a “crushing blow of intense Death Metal… showcasing five deathly songs of cataclysmic quality,” Valkyrian Music adds: “ZOMBIEFICATION play death metal as it should be played: loud, aggressive, groove laden and thoroughly kick ass!,” while Metal Maniacs notes vehemently: “ZOMBIEFICATION totally KILL on this fucking EP!”

“I Am The Reaper” comes by way of Axestogrind.com who commended the EP for its “haunting and melodic barrage of masterfully played guitars, and harsh unrelenting vocals.” Crank it up and piss off your neighbors at THIS LOCATION.

ZOMBIEFICATION:

Mr. Hitchcock – vocals

Mr. Jacko – bass / guitars

Live musicians:

Mr. Kim – Guitars

Mr. Brain – Guitars

Mr. Hammer – Drums

REIGN OF VENGEANCE – Announces New & Forthcoming EP

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on June 12, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Arizona Death Maniacs REIGN OF VENGEANCE have started work on the follow-up to their 2011 release, Disemboweling Swine. Front man and founder Marshall “Fucking” Beck made the following statement about the forthcoming EP:

“REIGN OF VENGEANCE has begun pre-production on a new five song EP. I can promise that as of right now this album will be extremely dangerous, simply because of its lyrical content. The music, as always, is speaking for itself in terms of masterly crafted horror oriented brutality. Over the past couple of years I have begun to run within certain circles and have obtained knowledge about certain things that might happen to our deserving and pathetic race of humans within our near future. This will not be another meaningless gore soaked “total fucking brutal” album like the other clichés of the Death Metal genre, and this will not be like a Black Metal album that constantly attacks a force that may or may not even exist. This album addresses real forces and certain individuals that possess more power than can be contemplated by most common minds. I have always believed that music is a weapon and this album will certainly prove that. If upon its release there is not mass confusion and chaos amongst the common men and the Elite then I will be thoroughly disappointed. The name of this upcoming EP will be entitled THE FINAL SOLUTION; THE FINAL REBELLION. Expect Brutality, expect bloodshed, but above all, expect REVOLUTION.”

And to all at Metal Blade Records for their belief in the band all these years and all the hard work of everyone at the label! This marks the first time in SIX FEET UNDER’s career, as well as my own, that we have reached Billboard’s Top 200. It is proof positive that underground music and Death Metal is not dead and is still a force to be dealt with. A very special thanks to the decades of hate that spawned the focus that went into this album. Cheers! It’s 4:20, motherfucker!”

Chris Barnes (Vocalist, Founding Member)

Crowned “the best thing SFU have recorded since Maximum Violence,” by Decibel, “an album on which this new level of musicianship adds value without tarnishing SIX FEET UNDER’s legacy of brutality,” by Outburn and simply a “kickass SIX FEET UNDER record,” by Revolver,

Undead was unleashed to North American ears via Metal Blade on May 22 and offers an updated lineup of Barnes alongside guitarist Rob Arnold (ex- Chimaira), longtime guitarist Steve Swanson (ex-Massacre), bassist Jeff Hughell (ex-Brain Drill, ex-Vile), and drummer Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Chimaira).

In conjunction with the record’s release, SIX FEET UNDER will embark on a near three-week run of live ceremonies next week. The 18 Nights Of Blood Tour will begin in Atlanta, Georgia on June 8. CANNIBAL CORPSE “TORTURE” – A Death Metal and Headbanging Must For The Metal Masses

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , on April 22, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

CANNIBAL CORPSE – Being released on March 13th, 2012, via Metal Blade Records, Torture is the 12th full-length album from Death Metal’s reigning genre headliner and pissed-off pack of pit bulls known world-wide as: CANNIBAL CORPSE. Make no mistake, these guys can play their instruments and write some of the most bone chilling and skull crunching Death Metal this side of the anti-mainstream. CANNIBAL CORPSE has proven their dominant status as Death Metal defenders once again with Torture. In my Metal opinion they are just that.

I find it humorous when someone says to me, “oh, CANNIBAL CORPSE, yeah, I used to listen to ‘em”. Well, this album isn’t for the “used to be fans” that in reality are hypocrites that secretly sit through numerous SAW movie marathons. Closet CANNIBAL CORPSE fans shouldn’t worry about what the neighbors may think, for it’s these same neighbors that are usually arrested for unspeakable crimes anyways. In other words, this is a legendary Death Metal band and so be it that their lyrics mirror the stories being aired on 24 hour cable news networks… during suppertime no less.

The continued existence of CANNIBAL CORPSE is not due to a small group of band devotees asking them to stick around, it’s all about a more massive global underground acceptance of a band that isn’t intimidated to push the envelope lyrically while never-ceasing to improve musically from one album to the next. This album isn’t carrying its Torture title for nothing. The songs on Torture are lyrically symbolic of what truly scares the living shit out of you, while keeping true to the Death Metal grooves that have made CANNIBAL CORPSE such an embracing, no bullshit and non-technical extreme outfit.

Torture isn’t just for CANNIBAL CORPSE diehards, this album will undoubtedly be a stepping stone listen for new fans of this band as well. From Demented Aggression to Torn ThroughGeorge “Corpsegrinder” Fisher belts out his guttural growls and vocally pronounces the lyrics in a way only us Death Metal fanatics can understand. Metal truth be told, Corpsegrinder sounds as deathly dangerous as he ever has before. Amazing and terrifying vocals.

Man, them deadly leads, riffs and solos are non-stop on Torture; with guitarists Pat O’Brien and Rob Barrett proving to me, they are a world-class Death Metal duo. Hell, this entire band is world-class Death Metal for that Metal matter. I’m always going goofy and I play some serious air guitar every time I listen to Torture. Really. Founding members Alex Webster (bass) and Paul Mazurkiewicz (drums) keep the Metal grooves smashing along; they play super tight and their beats are probably capable of (or responsible for) making seismic scales register earth tremors.

My favorite three songs on Torture are: Scourge Of Iron, Rabid and Encased In Concrete. Whoa. Scourge Of Iron just has a steady marching Death Metal beat; one that could seriously scare away any alien attack on our beloved planet Earth. Encased In Concrete and Rabid are 100% lethal in their overall extremity of sound. Brilliant songs.

With Torture, the lyrics and Death Metal go hand-in-hand and are thoroughly entertaining for my scorched eardrums. For me, Torture has earned its status as one of the very best from the CANNIBAL CORPSE catalog and one of the very best of Metal albums (overall) in 2012. A headbanging must this Torture album is. Metal be thy name.
