FDA Rekotz is proud to announce the addition of Chilean death squad THORNAFIRE.

Offering a visceral and ruthless brand of Extreme Death Metal in the vein of early Sepultura, Death and Massacre, THORNAFIRE have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with through their intense live show and a trio of well-received albums. The band’s fourth full-length will be out in late 2013 on FDA Rekotz. Prepare yourselves for the coming onslaught of high-caliber death metal!

The band has issued a video statement discussing their deal with FDA Rekotz and the addition of drummer Nikko Pagani to the lineup. Check it out below:

A video of the song Malefactor Manifesto off the band’s 2012 release Eclipse Nox Coagula is now playing below:

THORNAFIRE started out in 1998 by the hand of Víctor Mac-Namara with the sole intention of playing Death Metal. A year later two songs were recorded for the Granded for all Somberness demo. With that tape and a savage live show the band started to achieve a strong name in the local scene. After a series of line-up changes, an MCD entitled Mortus Tenebrae Surrectus was released in 2001, which received many good reviews from the local and international metal media. With that THORNAFIRE became one of the most promising Chilean Extreme Metal acts. The recording saw worldwide distribution via the tried and true methods of tape-trading and word of mouth.

THORNAFIRE began to gig and tour around Chile and into Bolivia and Argentina. In 2005, the band recorded their debut full-length, Exacerbated Gnostic Manifestation. The album stood out as a milestone in brutality and a masterpiece of hate. It also caught the attention of Incantation’s John McEntee, who signed THORNAFIRE to his label, Ibex Moon Records. The spring of 2007 saw the re-release and worldwide distribution of the debut and, in 2009 the band released Vorex Deconstrucción on Ibex Moon Records. A European invasion soon followed which saw the band appear alongside the likes of Master, Incantation, Deranged and many others at the Obscene Extreme Festival.

Since then, THORNAFIRE has shared stages with Slayer, Overkill, Dimmu Borgir, Motley Crue and several other notable acts. In 2012, bassist/vocalist Christian Argandoña joined the fold and Eclipse Nox Coagula was unleashed with critical acclaim and rabid reception from the band’s growing legion of fans. With a deal with FDA Rekotz in place, THORNAFIRE’s quest for global domination continues. Prepare yourselves.

EXTINCTION PROTOCOL – Debut From Vicious Death Metal Unit Set For Release Via P2

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal albums, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on March 13, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Extinction Protocol - large logo - 2013

Blasting forth from the guts of Erie, Pennsylvania, a vicious new act is about to invade the Death Metal universe, with the debut full-length from EXTINCTION PROTOCOL, confirmed for release via NYC-based D.I.Y. label P2.

Formed in 2010, EXTINCTION PROTOCOL merges classic Death Metal structures with breakdowns and grooves of modern, guttural slam while infusing the darkness of dissonant black metal into the proverbial cataclysmic blender. A nihilistic Death Metal vortex, EXTINCTION PROTOCOL’s debut album, Aeonic Obliteration lyrically scrutinizes the greed and corruption of mankind thus concluding mankind’s eventual downfall due to genetic testing and world altering events.

With nine devastating songs packed into a nearly thirty-three minute event horizon, Aeonic Obliteration features stellar production values courtesy of Ivan at Anthropocide Studios (Abominable Putridity) and full-color cosmic destruction ala JoeJesus of DeviantArt, and will see release on May 14th worldwide.

Inundate your senses with the hellish force of the album-opening track Aeonic Obliteration, “The Merging Of Titans,” alongside the cover art and more EXTINCTION PROTOCOL info RIGHT HERE.

New York-based P2, while a fairly young label, is based upon disbursing quality material over quantity, the curators of its releases focused on maintaining more of a devout cult status within the extreme underground music world rather than sales-based mass appeal. P2 has released a 7” version of NYC sci-fi/tech Death Metal outfit Artificial Brain’s 2011 demo, and is preparing to unleash the vinyl pressing of New York death/gore kingpins Malignancy’s newest album, Eugenics, in addition to the debut from EXTINCTION PROTOCOL and more over the coming months.

Azure Emote - Group Promo Pic - 2013 - #1

AZURE EMOTE, the avant-garde Death Metal entity envisioned and created by Mike Hrubovcak (Monstrosity, Vile, Divine Rapture, Abraxas), will release its second full-length work, The Gravity Of Impermanence, worldwide on April 3rd via Selfmadegod Records.

Under Hrubovcak’s direction, songwriting and full-on participation in its creation, The Gravity Of Impermanence was executed utilizing musicians from Death, Fear Factory, Yakuza, Monstrosity, Tristania, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder and more. With over an hour of material displayed through fourteen tracks, the album is fueled by pummeling blast beats, electronic programming, a mixture of both guttural and haunting vocal styles, violins, saxophone, harmonica and a barrage of other instruments coalescing in a melting pot of misanthropic darkness that defines the AZURE EMOTE ethos, recorded, mixed and mastered by Ron Vento of Aurora Borealis at Nightsky Studios.

The cover art was once again done by AZURE EMOTE’s creator and frontman Mike Hrubovcak, his Visual Darkness works well-known in the death/grind communities for illustrating covers for Sinister, Grave, Cattle Decapitation, Hate Eternal, Mortician, and many others.

Venerable scene news outlet/community Lambgoat.com is hosting an exclusive stream of the opening track to The Gravity Of Impermanence. Unleash the brilliantly unique destruction of “Epoch Of De-Evolution” AT THIS LOCATION.

Dark Descent Records has recently inked (in blood) a deal with London blackened Death Metal band Lvcifyre for the release of their as-of-yet-untitled sophomore full-length, which is due out in early 2013. The band commented:

INCANTATION – Reveal Artwork And Track Listing For: Vanquish in Vengeance

Posted in Death Metal, death metal albums, death metal bands, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on October 10, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

US Death Metal pioneers INCANTATION have revealed the cover art and track listing for their anticipated new album, Vanquish in Vengeance.

The long-awaited followup to 2006′s Primordial Domination, Vanquish in Vengeance carries a recurring lyrical theme that addresses the countless acts of genocide in the name of religion throughout our history.

Guitarist/vocalist John McEntee comments:

“The title track is about the massacre of Saxons in the town of Verdun in 782, called on by order of King Charlemagne. As an album title it has a different meaning to me. Vanquish in Vengeance symbolizes the long history of the band. We have fought many battles over the years to keep things going. We have always stayed true to our original vision and have never caved into trends. After a long wait between albums we are back with a vengeance with some of our darkest and heaviest material to date.”

Vanquish in Vengeance was recorded at Mars Studio with Bill Korecky and mixed by Dan Swano at Unisound Studios.

Cover art comes courtesy of Worthless Endeavors [http://worthlessendeavors.com/].

Death Metal pioneers INCANTATION have recorded an exclusive track for Decibel Magazine’s Flexi Disc series, which is available only to subscribers.

For their contribution to Decibel, INCANTATION founder John McEntee dug into his vault and pulled up the tune Degeneration, off the self-titled 1989 demo from his pre-INCAN tech-thrash band, REVENANT. INCANTATION gave the song a proper reworking and the deathed-up, newly-recorded version of the song will appear inside the December 2012 issue of Decibel.

Non-subscribers have until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10th to visit http://store.decibelmagazine.com/collections/subscriptions-renewals/products/subscribe to sign up in time to receive the disc.

INCANTATION are set to release the follow-up to 2006′s Primordial Decimation, a concept album entitled Vanquish in Vengeance, this November on Listenable Records.

LAVATORY – Joins The Pulverised Records Roster

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Heavy Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on August 31, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Pulverised Records are pleased to announce the latest addition to their roster of brutality: Malaysian Death Metal deviants, LAVATORY. Spawned in 2012,  a five-song EP entitled Transgression was issued earlier this Summer and showcases their unwavering penchant for raw, Swede-ian Death Metal as originally conjured by the likes of Entombed, Carcass and Dismember. LAVATORY is currently working on their full-length debut. In the meantime, sample their delicious sonic decay below!

Notes LAVATORY throat-slasher Muntah Ke Darah of the union with Pulverised: “It’s a dream come true for LAVATORY to sign with Pulverised as we are the first Malaysian band offered with this opportunity.”

Adds Pulverised Records label manager Roy Yeo: “LAVATORY caught us by complete surprise when we first heard them, and truth be told, there really aren’t many bands in the Southeast Asia region paying tribute to the elder statesmen of Swedish Death Metal! This sinister alliance between LAVATORY and Pulverised Records will prove to be an interesting yet lethal one indeed. We cannot wait to hear how they will pick up from where they left off with the Transgression EP. Something tells me that a mixture of sick, crushing and rotten Death Metal is coming our way!”

Further info on LAVATORY to be announced in the coming weeks.

DEEPSEND RECORDS – Signs Death Metal Squads: HUMILIATION and ETERNAL REST

Posted in Death Metal, death metal albums, death metal bands, Heavy Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on August 30, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

DEEPSEND RECORDS SIGNS HUMILIATION

Malaysian war-themed Death Metal soldiers, Humiliation, have signed a multi-album deal with Deepsend Records. Their as-of-yet untitled fourth album will be released in early 2013.

Musically, Humiliation focus on mid-tempo headbangers with heavy anthems of war, lack of humanity and minimal guitar solos. Humiliation’s war has been waged and will continue on until all in their path have been destroyed or join their hellbrigade.

Even at the “Dawn of Warfare,” the band will “Seek to Survive” marching “From Strength to Strength” to raise the Malaysian Death Metal Flag!!

HUMILIATION

________________________________________________

DEEPSEND RECORDS SIGNS ETERNAL REST

Deepsend Records is proud to announce the signing of Australia’s ETERNAL REST. The label will release the band’s debut album, Prophetic, in early 2013. The album was recorded and mixed by Joe Haley (Psycroptic).

Eternal Rest hail from Brisbane, Australia. The band’s powerful energy can be heard on Prophetic, but must be experienced in a live setting to be truly appreciated. This young band is surging forward with their excellently crafted heaviness from Down Under. Their brand of Death Metal is a mix of Immolation, Psycroptic and Martyr, with a heavy dose of ass-kickery.

A pre-production recording of the track “Preaching the Decimation of Spheres” can be heard below!

Eternal Rest have played with many national and international artists such as: The Black Dahlia Murder, Ulcerate, Sybreed and Alchemist, to name a few. The future looks bright for these Aussies. Hellbent on making a mark alongside countrymen Psycroptic and Beyond Terror Beyond Grace, Eternal Rest’s execution is unmatched.

Equal parts crushing and ferocious, maintaining a level of musicianship that should be applauded in a scene that’s been saturated with technical nightmares and slow-plodding meh.

Band Welcomes Terry Butler And Plans Fan-Generated Set Of Classic Tunes Off First Three Records!

Following 23 shows and 19 flights throughout Europe, today pioneering Florida Death Metal merchants OBITUARY are pleased to unveil the official routing of their first North American headlining tour in over three years! Brought to you by Rock The Nation and sponsored by Fender, the Carnival Of Death Tour 2012 will kick off in Orlando, Florida and tear its way through 20 cities. Further sonic battery will come from reunited DM behemoths Broken Hope as well as Decrepit Birth, Jungle Rot and Encrust, making it among the year’s most relentlessly brutal old school Metal package jaunts.

Additionally, Fender will hosting a special contest throughout the duration of the tour. The Grand prize winner will receive a Blacktop Stratocaster HH guitar. Contest entries will be accepted at the OBITUARY merch table. Finally, since the tour will be passing through New York City on September 11th, the band saw it fit to remove the “Carnival of Death” tag for that date and, through an agreement with Live Nation, donate $2 from each ticket sale to a September 11th related charity.

The Carnival of Death Tour marks OBITUARY’s first full US/Canadian tour run as a four-piece with legendary Death Metal alumnus Terry Butler (Death, Six Feet Under, Massacre, Denial Fiend) on bass. For this special journey, the band — vocalist John Tardy, drummer Donald Tardy, guitarist Trevor Peres and Butler — are working on compiling a special fan-generated set-list that will delve deep into their back catalog to include tunes predominantly off their renowned first three full-lengths: Slowly We Rot, Cause Of Death and The End Complete. To help the band map out their setlist, fans have been asked to drop by their official Facebook and Twitter pages with their song picks!

Notes drummer Donald Tardy: “I’m looking forward to giving North American fans an opportunity to see OBITUARY live again. It has been way too long. With the addition of our brother Terry Butler, this now four-piece band is solid as a rock, tighter than ever and ready to throw down! I hope everyone comes out to see the Florida boys onstage. It’s sure to be a good time.”

Adds Butler: ” This is my first full length tour of North America with OBITUARY and I’m extremely excited, to say the least! Being part of OBITUARY and this tour is a great honor for me. Plus the special setlist will certainly crush!”

Death Metal monarchs CANNIBAL CORPSE grace the cover of the April 2012 edition of Decibel Magazine: The Zombie Issue! Their third time on the cover of one of Metal’s most extreme and revered publications finds bloodied growl-merchant George “Corpsgrinder” Fisher at war with the undead.

Inside, author Chris Dick unearths a thoroughly absorbing ‘CORPSE dissertation that includes collective discussions about the creation of their monolithic new album, Torture, the band’s earliest encounters with censorship, artistic expression, facts and figures on one of the genre’s highest selling bands to date and of course, the relevance of zombies in 2012.

The issue hits newsstands on Thursday, March 8.  To order your copy, go to THIS LOCATION.

Earlier this week, Decibel hosted the official premiere of “Encased In Concrete,” the fourth track off Torture. In case you missed it, you can still rupture your eardrums HERE.

Torture will be available to North American fans on March 13, 2012 via Metal Blade Records. For special Torture preorder packages, visit the band’s OFFICIAL LANDING PAGE.

LONG LIVE CANNIBAL CORPSE.

SIX FEET UNDER – Announce New Bassist!

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , on February 14, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Jeff Hughell, former bassist for Brain Drill & Vile, has been chosen as new SFU bassist!

Within days of announcing the departure of Matt DeVries, SIX FEET UNDER has locked in the latest addition to the bands already heavy and extremely talented lineup. Seven-string bassist Jeff Hughell, formerly of the Santa Cruz California technical Death Metal band Brain Drill and Concord California Death Metal band Vile, will be joining the ranks as the new SIX FEET UNDER bassist. Check out a video of Jeff shredding on his bass HERE.

______________________________________________________________________
Vocalist Chris Barnes comments; “Six Feet Under is proud to announce our new member, bass player Jeff Hughell. He’s an amazing musician and I have been a fan of his work since first hearing Brain Drill a few years back. We feel with the addition of Jeff, all the puzzle pieces are in place and the killing machine known as Six Feet Under is now a true Death Metal force to be reckoned with! Prepare to be toe tagged and body bagged.”

______________________________________________________________________
Jeff Hughell adds; “I am honored to be the newest edition to the mighty Six Feet Under. This band is now a well oiled killing machine with Kevin Talley and myself as the rhythm section, Steve Swanson and Rob Arnold crushing guitars, and of course the man himself Chris Barnes killing it on vocals. The new material is the heaviest Six Feet Under songs I have ever heard and I can’t wait for the world to get their faces melted clean off by it. I would like to thank Mike Faley, Kelli Malella and the whole Six Feet Under family for thinking of me. It’s going to be one hell of a ride!”

Stay tuned to SFU420.com, Facebook.com/SixFeetUnder, and MetalBlade.com for album news and tour dates.

CANNIBAL CORPSE – Reigning Kings Of Death Metal Set To Release Twelfth Studio Album: ‘Torture’

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , on January 16, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

America’s reigning kings of brutality, CANNIBAL CORPSE, will unleash their twelfth studio offering this March via Metal Blade Records. Aptly titled Torture, the follow-up to 2009′s Evisceration Plague offers up 12 tracks of maniacally precise, soul-searing Death Metal. Torture was again produced by Hate Eternal’s Erik Rutan at his own Mana Recording Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida as well as Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, and features the maniacal cover art by longtime CANNIBAL CORPSE artist, Vincent Locke, viewable HERE.

While Torture marks the latest progression in the band’s sound, it also witnesses a return to what drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz accurately terms “the frenzied attack of Butchered At Birth (1991) or Tomb Of The Mutilated (1992),” infusing the band’s advanced musicianship with the raw savagery that haunted their earlier releases, and in the process conceiving the definitive CANNIBAL CORPSE record. Adds bassist Alex Webster on the outcome of the record: “We’re extremely happy with how Torture turned out. Erik Rutan did an amazing job with the production, and the songwriting and performances may be our strongest yet. We can’t wait until our fans get to hear the whole thing!”

Witness the gutting sounds of “Demented Aggression,” the band’s first single, as well as studio footage, at the official CANNIBAL CORPSE landing page, at THIS LOCATION.

As a precursor to the release, CANNIBAL CORPSE will perform a special one-off show at the Culture Room in West Palm Beach, Florida on January 22nd then head to the seas to take part in this year’s edition of the 70,000 Tons Of Metal Cruise. The band will get a short break before a near month-long march through Europe on the Full Of Hate 2012 tour with labelmates Behemoth.

VORE – Gravehammer Reaches #4 On Amazon.com Death Metal Charts

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , on January 16, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

The iron fist of the underground, VORE, has reached a new milestone in their already legendary DIY career. Barely a month after its release, VORE’s latest symphony of destruction, Gravehammer, reached the #4 spot on Amazon.com’s Death Metal downloads chart. The long-awaited follow up to 2005′s MaleficusGravehammer, sees VORE’s battle-ready brand of Death Metal taken to a new level of intensity and aggression. Gravehammer was mastered by Colin Davis of Imperial Mastering. The album is available at www.vore.org and Amazon.com.

VORE has been cranking out their unique blend of crushing, Doom-laden Death Metal since 1994. VORE draws upon Death, Thrash and Traditional Metal influences to create an onslaught of titanic power and heaviness. VORE‘s mid-paced rhythmic style is built around strong riffs and songcraft, rather than all out speed, which sets them apart from current trends in Death Metal. Over this soundscape, themes of doom, darkness, conquest and sorcery roar in a savage vocal attack.

VORE consists of guitarist/vocalist Page Townsley, drummer Remy Cameron and bassist Jeremy Partin. The band has independently released four self financed cd’s – Dead Kings Eyes in 1997, Lord of Storms in 2001, Maleficus in 2005 and their latest opus, Gravehammer, is being unleashed in late 2011.

VORE has worked hard to promote their metallic wares in the Metal underground and beyond. All of their releases have garnered accolades in the Metal press and despite remaining independent and unsigned to a label all these years (many argue criminally so!), they have sold thousands of cd’s worldwide and charted at Metal radio.

VORE is always at their best within the live realm, pummeling audiences with their thunderous sonic assault and tight energetic performances. Over the years VORE has performed with bands such as MORBID ANGEL, CANNIBAL CORPSE, OBITUARY, DEICIDE, SIX FEET UNDER, NILE, IN FLAMES, MONSTROSITY, MALEVOLENT CREATION, HALFORD, ORIGIN, GOATWHORE, CATTLE DECAPITATION, MANOWAR, CARCASS and many others. VORE are also veterans of the infamous Milwaukee Metalfest.
