Youth Forgotten - promo cover pic - 2014 - #19

Revolver Magazine is streaming the entire debut full-length from Cleveland quintet YOUTH FORGOTTENGhost Of A Fallen Empire, as the band releases the album into the public today.

Unifying former members of Dead Even, Salt The Wound, Above The Fire, Chimaira and Integrity, YOUTH FORGOTTEN forges straightforward, energetic, metal/punk-fueled hardcore. A high-octane release with the bustling angst, recalling the energy of the 1990s punk/hardcore movements, Ghost Of A Fallen Empire is a forty-minute, action-packed release packed with ten anthems aimed at lethargic, fad-driven acts that pollute the current scene. Recorded with Rob Arnold of Chimaira, marking his debut as a producer, Ghost Of A Fallen Empire is now officially available digitally, while the band finalizes plans for the upcoming physical pressing of the album.

Weed out the weak and resurrect the Ghost Of A Fallen Empire at Revolver RIGHT HERE.

With tour plans for the coming months currently being devised, YOUTH FORGOTTEN’s hometown record release party for the album will go down tomorrow evening, the act joined by nine bands considered true allies including Fuck You Pay Me, Teddy Boys, Cholera, Aricebo, Cop Problem and more. Every paid head at the door will instantly receive a handmade CD version of Ghost Of a Fallen Empire crafted exclusively for this event.

Critical Praise:

“Brutal riffs, hardcore punk intensity, anthemic vocals, an ear for meaningful technicality, all combined with a live show that more than punctuates the sentiment- Youth Forgotten should prove a force to reckoned with in 2014.” – Blow The Scene

“Contender for album of the year. If rating is something I would do I would give this one 10 sticks of dynamite.” – Hard Times

“If their past success in the metal scene is any indication of things to come for this band, then audiences should take notice of this release. This is only a warm-up for Youth Forgotten and I can’t wait to see what’s next.” - Broken Neck Radio

Consume The Southwest Tour Dates Locked

The opening track to Consume, the second full-length undertaking from Tucson, Arizona-based quintet, LETHAL DOSAGE, has been leaked onto the masses via Revolver Magazine. Bringing forth a nearly four-minute beating fueled by the band’s live-for-today and fuck the rest attitude, “Drink” most aptly displays what Consume is about. From the cacophony of the scathing vocal bellow and immediately pummeling opening moments of the album, listeners know Consume is going to be a punishing excursion.

Get a LETHAL DOSAGE of hate-bred audio aggression with “Drink” at Revolver’s website RIGHT HERE.

On February 25th, LETHAL DOSAGE will release Consume via Battleground Records, the new label founded by Tucson’s own Godhunter, also founders of the now annual Southwest Terror Fest gathering. Just in time for its release, the band will embark on their Consume The Southwest Touralongside Las Cruces’Psykryptyca, with five shows in New Mexico and Arizona between February 18th and 22nd. More extensive tour actions, including an US Summer tour, are in the planning stages as well.

LETHAL DOSAGE Consume The Southwest Tour w/ Psykryptyca:

2/18/2014 Metal Junkies – Las Cruces, NM

2/19/2014 The Jam Spot – Albuquerque, NM

2/20/2014 The Hive – Flagstaff, AZ

2/21/2014 Tempe Tavern – Phoenix, AZ

2/22/2014 The Rock – Tucson, AZ

LETHAL DOSAGE self-released their debut album, Inhale, in mid-2011, followed by regional touring ever since. After their breakthrough performance at the 2013 installment of the Southwest Terror Fest supporting Sacred Reich and Landmine Marathon in their hometown, the head of the fest, and founder of Battleground Records, brought the pummeling act under the new label’s cape, eager to unleash the bestial hammerfuck of their newly recorded Consume full-length.

LETHAL DOSAGE releases a brutal, modern, death-influenced, groove-laden style akin to Chimaira and Lamb Of God, delivered through a caustic sludge production on Consume. Bearing fifty minutes of carnage, the album was recorded at Arcane Digital Studio, produced and mixed by Ryan Butler and mastered at Sonorous Mastering. Battleground will release Consume thorugh digipak CD and digital delivery.

With that said, 2012 is a special anniversary for PANTERA, it marks the 20th anniversary of their ultra incredible album: Vulgar Display Of Power. An iconic Metal album it is. Nuff’ said.

Posted in hard rock albums, hard rock bands, hard rock music, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, heavy metal bands, heavy metal history, heavy metal music, metal music, metal odyssey, Music, rock music with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 16, 2010 by Metal Odyssey

REVOLVER MAGAZINE - has put out a very, very, cool special issue: The Art Of Hard Rock & Heavy Metal. This mag is out now and worth every Metal penny to own! Many past regular issues of Revolver, has included an article pertaining to the history behind a classic Heavy Metal or Hard Rock album cover. This history behind these album covers involves the artist and what thoughts, stories and details surrounded the artwork – from concept to finish. I always state… one can never take in enough Heavy Metal or Hard Rock history, this magazine is Metal knowledge that can only benefit me and you.

I came upon this Revolver Special Issue today, as I was grocery shopping at my local supermarket called Weis. Deciding to take a chance as I meandered down the magazine aisle, hoping that maybe, just maybe, there would be a worthy magazine to pick up, that covers the music I love… and I’m NOT talking about Rolling Stone either. That stroll down the magazine aisle served me right! There it was, this Revolver special issue, with Iron Maiden’s mascot Eddie on the front cover… depicted from their vintage 1981 album cover Killers. The cover price for the magazine is $6.99 (U.S.)… not a shabby deal at all for Heavy Metal and Hard Rock history.

A sampling of album covers that are featured in this Revolver Magazine special issue are: Quite RiotMetal Health, MegadethPeace Sells But Who’s Buying, SepulturaChaos A.D., PanteraFar Beyond Drive, King DiamondAbigail, MotorheadMotorhead and SlayerReign In Blood. Whoa, unreal great and historic album covers all. A huge Metal kudos to Revolver Magazine for unleashing such a spectacular special issue!

Slayer small logoSlayer. Thrash Metal Legends without any doubt in my Metal mind. I caught onto Slayer from the very beginning. I ordered Slayer’s first album, Show No Mercy, through mail order – direct from Metal Blade Records, back in 1984. Since then, Slayer has been a band that I uphold as one of the greatest Thrash Metal Bands ever, (if not the greatest).I have seen Slayer live in a small club setting back in the late 1980’s, a fortunate Metal experience that I will never forget. Yes, Slayer is a core favorite of mine and that will never change.

Revolver Magazine has recently devoted a special issue to just Slayer. This special issue aptly called The Book Of Slayer, should be quite easy to locate at newsstands or large book stores. I actually found my Revolver Book Of Slayer at a Weis Grocery Store, this week of October 25th. I have been a subscriber to Revolver for several years now, this is a magazine that delves into all of the Metal Music genres. Revolver, in my Metal opinion, is the best mainstream Metal Music magazine out there today – based on it’s writing, reviews, content and interviews.

Slayer small logoThe Book Of Slayer covers the band from it’s infancy in 1981 to present day. Anecdotes, interviews, tons of photos and details abound and it is 100% Slayer. Plus there are four feature articles included about Slayer, from past issues of Revolver. Revolver documents Slayer throughout their entire career in excellent Metal fashion. Kerry King, Tom Araya, Jeff Hanneman, Dave Lombardo and Paul Bostaph are all included in the story telling and interviews. This is one Slayer collectible worth picking up – the content within it’s pages and Slayer knowledge you will gain is well worth the $5.99 cover price. New fans can catch up on some great Slayer history and veteran fans should find it hard to put down. I know I will be taking it with me just about everywhere.

SHADOWS FALL – “RETRIBUTION” album is a Thrash Metal lightning strike!

Shadows Fall "Retribution" small picHighly recommended to all Metal fans all over the globe! That is just how unreal good Retribution from Shadows Fall is… that I start off by just bluntly recommending this new album. Seriously, Retribution is one solid chunk of Thrash Metal Music for me. On this new release, (released September 15, 2009), Shadows Fall sounds as if they are not holding back the hard and heavy for no one. I am not taking the easy way out by saying all ten songs are damn incredible. The all encompassing barrage of Metal fury, that highlights each turn and corner on Retribution, is like a Metal power rush to my brain that I do not want to end. In my Metal opinion, it very much seems as if Shadows Fall took a long and hard listen to the once in a millennium, Metal masterpiece from Slipknot called All Hope Is Gone… and decided they too wanted to raise their own Metal bar. The All Hope Is Gone influence I hear on Retribution, is deserving of a raucous Metal applause for Shadows Fall, for if this influence is to be true… Shadows Fall surely knows real Metal when they hear it. The unrelenting surge of Metal power both musically and vocally, (both lead and backing/gang vocals), found within Retribution, are the best ways I can describe my All Hope Is Gone comparison.

Brian Fair on lead vocals has never sounded this unreal great before, based on what my ears hear on Retribution. Brian Fair shows his harmonious side as a crooner and just as suddenly can deliver the bad ass vocals I have always expected… and he does so with the determination and tenacity of a seasoned Metal pro. If it was ever possible for Jason Bittner to elevate his already incredible Metal talents on drums, well, he did it here on Retribution… whoa. Jonathan Donais on lead guitar, takes full Metal command with creative leads that are above impressive. One recent professionally paid Metal Music critic wrote in the November 2009 issue of Revolver Magazine: “arguably the most mainstream-friendly album the group has made” – (?), uh, I beg to differ. First, I would never equate the word mainstream to Shadows Fall… never, ever, from 1998’s Somber Eyes to the Sky to 2007’s Threads of Life. Now, with Retribution, for this album to even be remotely considered mainstream friendly, well, that is like saying a Pit Viper hanging from a tree limb above your head is friendly too. Nickelback is mainstream friendly, with absolutely no disrespect of course, to them. This is just another perfect Metal example, that there are some Metal Music critics out there that never bother to listen to the album(s) they are being paid to review. Frustrating, to say the least.

My two choice picks on Retribution are: King Of Nothing and Embrace Annihilation. These are the two songs that just embody the core Thrash Metal essence of Retribution, in my Metal opinion. Shadows Fall has made me feel Metal secure, with their creating Retribution, this is an album that encapsulates all things powerful about Thrash Metal. Metal truth be told, I will be recommending this album to anyone who listens for the rest of my Metal life. Musical integrity and the respect for quality song writing are characteristics every band should uphold, Shadows Fall upheld them on Retribution ten fold. Shadows Fall will always have their Metalcore roots, with Retribution, they have imprinted themselves into the Thrash Metal genre like an unstoppable lightning strike.

Shadows Fall are:

Brian Fair on lead vocals

Jonathan Donais on lead guitar/vocals

Matthew Bachand on guitar/vocals

Paul Romanko on bass

Jason Bittner on drums

Retribution was produced by Zeuss and released on Ferret Music and Independent Label Group.
