PHANTOM 13 – Wanna See My PHANTOM 13 Autographed CD? It’s Really Cool…

Phantom 13 - Autographed CD - front cover - 2013

PHANTOM 13 – That’s it at the top! Whoa! That’s my autographed PHANTOM 13 CD! I was able to catch these Horror Punk/Shock Rock bad-asses opening for the Queen Of Heavy Metal, aka, Doro Pesch and her band DORO. This concert took place at Ace Of Cups in Columbus, Ohio, back on February 9th. HARD ROCK HIDEOUT‘s very own Rob Rockitt took my Rockaholic ass for a ride out to this DORO show and we both had a blast.

PHANTOM 13 are from Columbus, Ohio and they gave their hometown crowd of fans one hell of a spooktacular good time. I had heard of PHANTOM 13 before seeing them on that night; now I’m a fan. The band members of PHANTOM 13 were out and about in the crowd after their set, as well as hanging around their merch table. I bought their self-titled CD from them for $6. As the night progressed, each member of the band was more than happy to sign the front cover to the liner notes for me. Very cool.

Being a fan of the MisfitsBalzac and Wednesday 13 (to name a few) is no secret around here. Horror Punk, Horror Metal and Shock Rock just sucks me in. I love it. I really dig the moments when AFI and Aiden have dabbled into the Punk Horror theme. If any of these bands I’ve mentioned are favorites of yours, then, PHANTOM 13 is a band worthy of your time and money.

PHANTOM 13’s vocalist Sutter Cain comes across as an ominous figure, both physically and vocally, however, he politely apologized when he nearly walked into me in the crowd. That’s called having Rockin’ class and I respect that. From this experience, I’d have to readily admit that PHANTOM 13 can play and are a class act off the stage. I highly recommend seeing these guys live and don’t hesitate to buy their merch and music; whether it’s one mp3, an entire CD or slab of vinyl. Metal be thy name.

Alice Cooper (The Band) – A Metal Congratulations!

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, metal odyssey, Music, rock and roll, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , , on December 16, 2010 by Metal Odyssey

ALICE COOPER – Metal Odyssey gives a Metal Congratulations to Alice Cooper and each original member of Alice Cooper (The Band) for their induction into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, class of 2011. Metal accolades go out to the original lineup of Alice Cooper (The Band): Alice Cooper, Michael Bruce, Dennis DunawayNeal Smith and the late Glen Buxton.

Regardless of the bonehead maneuvers and clique driven approach that the “Rock scholars” at this institution have bestowed over the years, it is a fine feeling to have such an iconic band and powerful figure as Alice Cooper as a member there. Alice Cooper represents Rock, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Just exactly where Shock/Horror Rock would be today, without Alice Cooper leading the way, is a scary Metal thought to ponder. Influential, groundbreaking, legendary… how many more ways can I explain the impact that Alice Cooper has had upon Rock Music across the genres?

At the end of my Metal day, it’s not about Rock genres… it’s about music. Alice Cooper has created music that will live on for untold generations, long after my stay on Earth is over.

Metal Odyssey’s Metal Gripes:

* Alice Cooper belongs inducted as a solo artist as well. Alice Cooper’s solo career began in 1975 with the studio album Welcome To My Nightmare and continues to the present day. Alas, The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s Rock scholars probably don’t know that.

Let’s just hope the trend of inducting the musicians and bands that belong in The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame continues. My criticism of The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame shall continue, until there are real knowledgeable and non-political Rock minds in place at the helm. Without the likes of KISS, Cheap Trick, The Moody Blues, Heart, Motorhead, Slayer, The Doobie Brothers, The Electric Light Orchestra and Mott The Hoople, to name a many few, (there are many more), it shall remain one big Hall Of Shame. Remember: ABBA is already inducted (?)… the bands previously mentioned, sadly, are overlooked. Bizarre.

LONG LIVE ALICE COOPER.

ALICE COOPER – On December 14th, 2010, Along Came A Spider from the ultra-legendary Alice Cooper will be reissued on Bigger Picture Group. This reissue will contain three bonus tracks not included on the original release from 2008: Shadow Of Yourself, I’ll Still Be There and Salvation (Acoustic Unplugged). Along Came A Spider, a concept album which centers on a serial killer theme, touches on the rage, emotions and eventual remorse of this character. This album was originally released on July 29, 2008, on Steamhammer/SPV. Along Came A Spider is the 18th “solo” album from Alice Cooper and 25th album combined with Alice Cooper (The Band).

Multi-instrumentalists Greg Hampton (The New Czars, Science Faxtion) and Danny Saber (Black Grape, Agent Provocateur) are featured on guitar. Eric Singer (KISS, Badlands, Black Sabbath) is featured on drums. Slash also does a cameo on guitar, appearing on the track Vengeance Is Mine. Ozzy Osbourne is credited with harmonica on the track Wake The DeadKeri Kelli (RATT, Saints Of The Underground) also appears on guitar.

If you haven’t picked up this amazing Alice Cooper album just yet… now is the time, especially with the inclusion of 3 bonus tracks! Put your Metal trust in Stone, as I state… this is one Alice Cooper album to own.
