On This Day In METAL History – May 8th… From Aerosmith To Alex Van Halen
On May 8th, 1993 – The great Aerosmith reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart for the first time, with their eleventh studio album: Get a Grip. This album spent one week on top of this chart.
On this day in 2009 – Jane’s Addiction began their first tour, with their original band lineup for the first time in eighteen years. This concert took place in West Palm Beach, Florida, as a co-headlining tour with Nine Inch Nails.
On May 8th, 2015 – The mighty Metallica has their third studio album, Master Of Puppets, ranked at #130 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. This iconic album of old school Thrash Metal was released back in 1986. Holy shit! Master Of Puppets has spent 81 non-consecutive weeks on this chart, peaking at #29.
On this day in 2015 – The third studio album from Bon Jovi, Slippery When Wet, has returned to the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart, ranking at #168. Whoa! Slippery When Wet was released back in 1986. This former #1 album has spent 103 non-consecutive weeks on this chart.
On May 8th, 2015 – The fifth studio album from In This Moment, Black Widow, is ranked at #1 on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Nice! This is the band’s first album with Atlantic Records.
