On This Day In METAL History – June 16th… From THE MONTEREY INTERNATIONAL POP FESTIVAL To LUCIFER
On June 16th, 1967 – The Monterey International Pop Festival at the Monterey County Fairgrounds in Monterey, California begins. This historic festival introduces Hard Rock icons Janis Joplin, The Who and The Jimi Hendrix Experience to the American mainstream and pop culture world. Whoa, man!

On June 16th, 1979 – Bad Company peaked at #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, with their single: Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy. This song is featured on Bad Company’s 1979 studio album: Desolation Angels. The B-side song was Crazy Circles, also featured on Desolation Angels.
On June 16th, 2006 – Def Leppard were the first band/musicians inducted to the Sheffield Legends, a walk of fame in their hometown of Sheffield, United Kingdom. Holy moly!
On June 16th, 2015 – The newly released studio album, Lucifer I, from Doom Metal warriors LUCIFER is ranked at #73, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Hell yeah and holy guacamole!
LUCIFER are from Berlin/London and the band members are: Johanna Sadonis on vocals, The Wizard on guitars, Dino Gollnick on bass and Andrew Prestidge on Drums.
