On This Day In METAL History – September 6th… From JIMI HENDRIX To IRON MAIDEN
On September 6th, 1970 – Jimi Hendrix, Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell (aka The Jimi Hendrix Experience) perform at the Love And Peace Festival (Open Air Pop Festival) in Puttgarden – Insel Fehmarn Germany. Sadly, this would be the last concert that Jimi Hendrix would perform, before his death on September 18th, 1970.
On September 6th, 1974 – The legendary JUDAS PRIEST released their debut studio album: Rocka Rolla. Hey, every iconic Metal band has to start somewhere, you know?
On September 6, 1978 – AC/DC appeared on the ABC network’s The Midnight Special. After an introduction by tour mates Ted Nugent and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, AC/DC performed Sin City from their 1978 studio album: Powerage. This performance is featured on AC/DC’s Family Jewels 2 DVD set. Hell and yeah!
On September 6th, 1997 – The magnificent MEGADETH performed at the New World Music Theatre in Tinley Park, Illinois, USA. This performance was on the Main Stage for Rockstock ’97. MEGADETH was touring in support of their seventh studio album: Cryptic Writings. Hail MEGADETH!
On September 6th, 2015 – IRON MAIDEN‘s tenth studio album, The X Factor, is ranked at #53, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Yes, Blaze Bayley is the vocalist on this album. The X Factor was released back in 1995. Whoa.
On September 6th, 2015 – IRON MAIDEN‘s eleventh studio album, Virtual XI, is ranked at #77, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Yes, Blaze Bayley is the vocalist on this album too. Virtual XI was released back in 1998. Whoa, again.
