On this day in 1974 – Rush made their American television debut on Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert. Rush didn’t perform again on American television, until a 2008 episode of The Colbert Report.
On October 9th, 1993 – Aerosmith made their second appearance on Saturday Night Live. Aerosmith performed their songs Cryin’ and the timeless classic: Sweet Emotion.
On October 9th, 1993 – Nirvana entered the U.S. Billboard album chart at #1 with In Utero. This would become Nirvana’s third and final studio album. In Utero has gone on to sell 5 million copies in the United States alone.
On this day in 2008 – Before the start of the Toronto Maple Leafs versus Detroit Red Wings game, Def Leppard performed at Detroit’s Fox Theatre nearby. Vocalist Joe Elliott received criticism by many NHL fans for placing the (sacred) Stanley Cup upside down. Bad move, Joe. Bad move.
On this day in KISSTORY, October 9, 2012 – KISS released Monster, their 20th studio album. Oh… this album kicks 100% Metal ass too. Yup, it does.
