On this day, in 1982 – On their farewell tour, The Who performed the first of two nights at Shea Stadium in Flushing, Queens, New York City. The Clash was the opening act for The Who, at both concerts. (Pictured above is the tenth studio album from The Who, It’s Hard, released in 1982).

On October 12th, 1987 –  Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider announced that he was leaving the band. Twisted Sister reunites ten years later, with Dee Snider leading the pack.

On this day, in 1991 – The final Day on the Green festival was presented by famed promoter Bill Graham at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum in Oakland, California. Bill Graham passed away 13 days later, from injuries sustained in a Helicopter crash in California. Metallica was the headliner and this legendary bill also included Queensrÿche, Faith No More and Soundgarden.

On This day, in 2005Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee suffered minor burns at a concert in Casper, Wyoming during a pyrotechnics explosion, while being suspended from a wire 30 feet above the stage.
