On This Day In METAL History – October 27th…
On October 27th, 1970 – The legendary Black Sabbath began their first tour of North America at Glassboro State College in Glassboro, New Jersey. During this historic tour, Black Sabbath would share the stage with the likes of Alice Cooper, The James Gang, Three Dog Night, Jethro Tull, The Small Faces, Badfinger, and Mungo Jerry.
On this day in 1979 – Motörhead releases their third studio album: Bomber. Along with the title track, this Motörhead album also features the classic tracks: Stone Dead Forever and Dead Men Tell No Tales.
On October 27th, 1988 – Def Leppard performed their final concert in support of their studio album Hysteria. This concert took place at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA. Sadly, this concert was also their final performance with original guitarist Steve Clark who passed away in 1991 at the very young age of 30.

On this day in 1990 – Slaughter hits #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with Fly to the Angels. This up-tempo power ballad is featured on Slaughter’s 1990 studio album, Stick It To Ya, released via Chrysalis Records. Stick It To Ya has been certified double Platinum by the RIAA.
On October 27th, 1990 – AC/DC peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart with The Razors Edge. This marked the eleventh studio album released internationally for AC/DC and the twelfth studio album released in Australia. The Razors Edge features the hits Thunderstruck and Moneytalks, going on to sell five million (plus) copies in the United States alone.
K. K. DOWNING
Born on October 27th, 1951, in West Bromwich, England was K.K. Downing. Happy birthday, K.K.! Whoa yeah!! K.K. Downing was a co-founding member, guitarist and songwriter for the legendary Judas Priest.
