On This Day In METAL History – October 30th…
On October 30th, 1982 –RUSH peaks at #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart with their single: New World Man. This hit is featured on the ninth studio album from RUSH, released in 1982 titled: Signals.
On this day in 1985 – MTV premieres the music video “Sun City” by Artists United Against Apartheid. Artists United Against Apartheid was a protest group of world-famous musicians, founded by activist and guitarist Steven Van Zandt, aka Little Steven, along with record producer Arthur Baker. The mission was to protest apartheid in South Africa.
On October 30th, 1988 – Bon Jovi kicked off their Jersey Syndicate Tour in support of their fourth studio album: New Jersey. The tour lasted 16 months. Bon Jovi then took a two-year hiatus after the end of this tour. Shown above is a tour program for the Jersey Syndicate Tour.
On this day in 1998 – The legendary Black Sabbath appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman. It was the band’s first appearance on U.S. television since 1976.
On this day in KISSTORY, 1998 – KISS appeared on the television show Millennium, both with and without their trademark makeup.
On October 30th, 2012 – The third studio album from Flyleaf was released on A&M/Octone Records, titled: New Horizons. Originating from Texas, Flyleaf has been recording their style of Alternative Metal since 2005.
On October 30th, 2013 – The paranormal movie, Skinwalker Ranch was released. This film is based on true events and was rated R. In other words, this is a scary movie to watch for Halloween! Whoa.

GRACE SLICK
On October 30th, 1939, Grace Victoria Wing, aka Grace Slick was born in Chicago, Illinois. Happy Birthday, Grace! Grace Slick is world-famous as the former vocalist for Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, Starship, The Great Society and as a solo artist. During her post music years, Grace Slick has found fame again as an artist in the visual/fine arts.

CHRIS SLADE
On October 30th, 1946, Chris Slade was born. Happy Birthday, Chris! Chris Slade is the former drummer for Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, The Firm, Uriah Heep, Asia and of course, the mighty AC/DC. Actually, Chris Slade has been a drummer for quite a few diverse acts, including the dynamic Tom Jones.
