On This Day In METAL History – December 10th…
On December 10th, 1983 – The incredible IRON MAIDEN performed a concert at Walter-Köbel-Halle in Rüsselsheim, Germany. IRON MAIDEN were on their World Piece Tour supporting their fourth studio album: Piece Of Mind.
On this day in 1983 – Ozzy Osbourne hits #24 in the United Kingdom with his third solo studio album: Bark at the Moon. This was the first Ozzy Osbourne album to feature guitarist Jake E. Lee. Sadly, this is Ozzy Osbourne’s first album without the great Randy Rhoads, due to his tragic death in 1982.
On December 10, 1988 – The Sammy Hagar fronted Van Halen hits #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with Finish What Ya Started. This hit is featured on Van Halen’s eighth studio album from 1988: OU812. This studio album was the second to feature Sammy Hager, following 5150 from 1986. On this day in 1993 – The comedy film Wayne’s World 2, the sequel to 1992’s box office smash Wayne’s World, was released to the wide-screen theaters. Mike Myers portrays Wayne Campbell and Dana Carvey portrays Garth Algar. Both the Wayne and Garth characters were originated and portrayed on Saturday Night Live.
Both hilarious actors are surrounded by a cast which includes: Christopher Walken, Tia Carrere, Kim Basinger, Chris Farley and Kevin Pollack, among others.
Cameos abound in this film, with the likes of: Aerosmith, Heather Locklear, Jay Leno and Rip Taylor, among other famous notables. Wayne’s World 2, as its predecessor is… Metal.
On December 10th, 2007 – The iconic Led Zeppelin performed their first concert in 19 years at London’s O2 Arena. Jason Bonham was the drummer, filling for his father, the late John Bonham. One million (plus) fans applied for a chance at the 9,000 pairs of tickets.
