On This Day In METAL History – April 17th… From KISS To AUGUST BURNS RED
On April 17th, 1976 – The stupendous KISS had their hit single Shout It Out Loud ranked at #31, on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, in the USA. This song is featured on the fourth studio album from KISS, released in 1976: Destroyer. Incredible stuff, it is.
On this day in 1982 – The great VAN HALEN has their hit cover single (Oh) Pretty Woman ranked at #12, on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, in the USA. This song is featured on VAN HALEN’s fifth studio album from 1982: Diver Down. The late Roy Orbison co-wrote and performed (Oh) Pretty Woman, releasing in 1964. Roy Orbison’s original version also hit #1 in 1964, on the Billboard Hot 100.
On April 17th, 1993 – UGLY KID JOE had their hit cover single Cat’s In The Cradle sitting at #7, on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, in the USA. Harry Chapin (the late Folk Rock singer, songwriter and musician) co-wrote and recorded Cat’s In The Cradle; this Harry Chapin song version was originally released back in 1974.
On this day in 2015 – Sweden’s mighty SABATON achieve a sold out concert at the Agora Theatre, in Cleveland, Ohio. Whoa! SABATON are touring in support of their seventh studio album and Metal Odyssey’s #1 Metal Album Of 2014: Heroes.
On April 17th, 2015 – Lancaster Pennsylvania’s AUGUST BURNS RED have their forthcoming studio album, Found In Far Away Places, ranked at #3, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. This album has a release date of June 30th, 2015.
