On This Day In METAL History – August 12th… From GREAT WHITE To BREACH THE SILENCE – And More!
On August 12th, 1968 – The self-titled debut studio album from the celebrated BIG BROTHER AND THE HOLDING COMPANY is released, via Mainstream Records. Yes, the lead singer on this album is the late and super-great JANIS JOPLIN.

On August 12th, 1989 – The legendary GREAT WHITE had their hit single, Once Bitten, Twice Shy, ranked at #5, on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. This song is featured on GREAT WHITE’s fourth studio album from 1989: …Twice Shy. The prominent IAN HUNTER originally wrote and recorded this song for his debut and self-titled solo album from 1975.
On August 12th, 1984 – The marvelous IRON MAIDEN performed at Folks Hall in Wrocław, Poland. This concert was on the band’s World Slavery Tour, promoting their fifth studio album: Powerslave.
On August 12th, 2015 – The new studio album, Genexus, from Industrial Metal titans FEAR FACTORY is ranked at #1, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Freaking cool, man! Yeah!
