On This Day In METAL History – September 10th… From LED ZEPPELIN And KISS To VANNA
On September 10th, 1971 – The exceptional LED ZEPPELIN performed (an approximate) three-hour set at the Onondaga War Memorial, in Syracuse, New York, USA. The lowest ticket price for this concert was $4.00. Holy crap, I wanna go back to 1971 with just $100 and hit up concerts like an out-of-control motherfu#cker!!
As reported on the KISS Facebook timeline:
THIS DAY IN KISSTORY 1975
KISS Alive! was released 40 years ago today!
On this day in KISSTORY – September 10, 1975, KISS released their legendary Alive! album. This double live album, recorded largely in Detroit’s Cobo Arena (with some material from Iowa, New Jersey and Ohio), marked the pivotal giant step towards achieving domination in the 70’s.
The multi-platinum album peaked at #9, and spent 110 weeks on the album charts.
“We wanted to put out a souvenir, almost like when you go to the circus,” said Paul Stanley. “I really enjoy myself onstage, prancing around, shaking my ass, shaking my head, playing the guitar between my legs. I enjoy it as much as the audience. Basically, I am entertaining myself up there.”
On September 10th, 1988 – The great VAN HALEN had their hit single, When It’s Love, sitting at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. I really dig this power ballad and I can’t deny it. This song is featured on VAN HALEN’s eighth studio album from 1988: OU812.
On September 10th, 1991 – NIRVANA released their iconic single Smells Like Teen Spirit. This song eventually went on to reach #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. Smells Like Teen Spirit is featured on the second studio album from NIRVANA, released in 1991: Nevermind.
On September 10th, 2015 – Boston’s Post-Hardcore band VANNA have their forthcoming EP, ALT, ranked at #41, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. This EP features 5 cover songs, celebrating the works of Metallica, Marilyn Manson, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn and The Offspring. Whoa!!

I have the single for When It’s Love, but not that cool picture sleeve!

I am always finding different cover sleeve versions on the internet for so many 45’s and CD singles… maybe it depended on the country?
If I find this version when I’m out hunting for METAL, I’ll snag it for you, cuz you ROCK \m/\m/
