On This Day In METAL History, October 9th… From RUSH To W.A.S.P.
On October 9th, 1974 – RUSH had their American television debut on the popular Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert. RUSH didn’t perform on American television again until 2008 on The Colbert Report.
On October 9th, 1992 – A meteorite that weighed 28 pounds and shaped like a bowling ball crashed into the back-end of a 1980 Chevy Malibu, in Peekskill, New York, USA. This meteorite also smelled of rotten eggs. Ew. No one was hurt or killed by this alien missile. The good news: This 1980 Chevy Malibu was sold to Lang’s Fossils And Meteorites for a whopping $10,000; which was well above the Kelley Blue Book value at that time. Mama Mia!!

Meteorite crashes into Chevy Malibu
On October 9th, 2006 – The phenomenal IRON MAIDEN performed at Colisée Pepsi in Quebec City, QC, Canada. IRON MAIDEN were on tour supporting their fourteenth studio album: A Matter Of Life And Death.
On October 9th, 2015 – The newly released studio album from W.A.S.P., Golgotha, is ranked at #5, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Welcome back, Blackie Lawless! Whoa.
On October 9th, 2015 – CRYSTAL LAKE are from Tokyo, Japan and their newly released studio album, The Sign, is ranked at #22, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. If you count the number of naked fannies on the album cover above, there are four.
