On This Day In METAL History – February 9th… From DEEP PURPLE To ABBATH
On January 9th, 1985 – The great DEEP PURPLE peaked at #17 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, with their studio album Perfect Strangers. This was DEEP PURPLE‘s first album with their Mark II lineup in eleven years. Perfect Strangers went on to sell Platinum in the United States.

On February 9th, 1996 – The masterful IRON MAIDEN performed at Auditorium de Verdun in Montreal, QC, Canada. This date was on The X Factour, with Blaze Bayley as lead singer of IRON MAIDEN. Whoa.

On February 9th, 2016 – The debut studio album from ABBATH is ranked at #46, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. HAIL ABBATH!!
On February 9th, 2016 – The new studio EP from Belgium’s ABORTED, Termination Redux, is ranked at #70, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Freaking hell and yeah!
