CHRIS CORNELL – Rest In Peace

Hearing the news of Chris Cornells’ passing was a shock to my system. After last year’s dreadful losses of musics’ most significant legends, who could ever predict Chris Cornell would leave us in 2017? Not me. My day job supervisor, Mark, told me the news at around 6:30 in the morning this past Thursday. All I can remember is my saying aloud: “no, no, no, no” and feeling like another ruthless blow to the world of music has emerged once again.
I feel very bad for the circumstance that Chris Cornell died from. No one will ever know what his saddened soul and heart were feeling, leading up to his suicide. I also feel sorrow (if not more) for his family that he’s left behind; I cannot imagine their enormous grief. I always say to myself and others, the life of celebrity and fortune is not a guarantee of harmony and control. I always considered (and forever will) that Chris Cornell was the greatest, if not one of the greatest singers of my generation.
Not to sound selfish, only the thought that both Soundgarden and Audioslave are done makes me very sad. Even any future solo work from Chris Cornell is gone. Still, compared to his wife and children losing both a husband and father, there is no comparison to us fans losing only his bands and future musical creations. I express the deepest of condolences to his wife, children and extended family; may they stay strong as ever and never give up hope. I sincerely hope Chris Cornell has now found the peace and happiness he was looking for. May God rest his soul.
Stone.

I’d just seen him 3 weeks prior on CBS Saturday Morning Sessions. Such a great performance he gave. I’ll put the link to it here.
