NUCLEAR ASSAULT – “RISE FROM THE ASHES” THRASH METAL ROOTS FROM 1988!
NUCLEAR ASSAULT – released the album Survive on June 13, 1988. Rise From The Ashes is from this album, one unreal great Thrash Metal song… in my Metal opinion. Old School and brutally real is Nuclear Assault, a Thrash Metal Band originating from NYC. Nuclear Assault deserve’s any and all the Metal recognition when talk of Thrash roots comes up for discussion. This is Thrash Metal that reminds me of days when I really had to sell or trade records or tapes in order to buy/acquire new Metal. This is Thrash Metal that the music awards shows on television never did or ever will have an F’n clue about. This is Thrash Metal that will never be forgotten by Metal Odyssey… NUCLEAR ASSAULT Reigns here. Crank up the volume on Rise From The Ashes… hopefully you like this Thrash gem as much as I do.
LONG LIVE NUCLEAR ASSAULT!
Nuclear Assault as they appeared on Survive from 1988:
John Connelly – vocals & guitar
Anthony Bramante – guitar
Dan Lilker – bass
Glenn Evans – drums

ha! good one, I have a NUCLEAR ASSAULT article + interview sitting right beside me to post on the DEMOLISH blog.
Love their mix of hardcore + metal = excellent.
J.C’s unique voice is cool (I always though the dude from Vio-Lence kinda’ borrowed some of his weird tone and or articulations.
*I was subscribed to their “Nuclear News” fanzine back in the day and recently re-read those as well. I guess great Metal minds think alike!
I also dig the somewhat more commercial “Something Wicked” material that came out after this as well. Metal was under FULL attack from grunge in that era and they did change their material somewhat, but I still dig it.
Have a peep on You Tube for some low-slung freakin’ GRINDING!
Love it…reminds me of some FORCED ENTRY or early OVERKILL heavy/slow riffage.
found some post cards too recently (check your private email).
Later,
Curt

I, like yourself obviously, bought into Nuclear Assault with the rest of the Thrash “attack pack” bands – back in the mid/late 80’s. Who knows what it all “boiled down to” back then, when it came to “leaping up the ladder” of Thrash Metal dominance.
Just like it is in 2010, there are great Metal bands out there that will never get the “popular vote” that some other bands do… maybe that magic word – “luck” has something to do with it. Yeah… post that interview you had with Nuclear Assault, that should be an interesting Metal read.
