On October 26th, 1968 – Steppenwolf hits #3 in the U.S. with their hit Magic Carpet Ride. This classic song is featured on the second studio album from Steppenwolf: The Second. How’s that for a play on words? Read it all again if you didn’t get it. Whoa!
On this day in 1969 – Suspicious Minds by Elvis Presley was a hit, everywhere. Yup.
On October 26th, 1979 – Foreigner hits #12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 with Dirty White Boy. This Hard Rock classic is featured on Foreigner’s fabulous third studio album: Head Games.
On this day in 1981 – Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie was released as a single. This eventual classic song would later peak at #29 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart.
On October 26th, 1991 – Extreme hits #4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 with Hole Hearted. This mid-tempo acoustical song is featured on Extreme’s second studio album from 1990: Extreme II: Pornograffitti. This Extreme album is also certified double-platinum in the U.S., by the RIAA.
On this day in 2006 – 2112 by RUSH was named a MasterWork in Canadian sound recording, by The Audio-Visual Preservation Trust of Canada. This historic ceremony took place at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, Canada. This prestigious honor ensured that 2112 would be preserved for future generations. 2112 was released back in 1976 and is the fourth studio album from RUSH.
On October 26th, 2011 – The mighty Aerosmith performed at the Personal Rock Festival in Asunción, Paraguay, at Jockey Club Paraguayo. This concert was part of Aerosmith’s 2011 Back On The Road Tour.
On this day in 2012 – The Spanish Horror film, Sleep Tight, was released in the United States. This fright flick was directed by Jaume Balagueró.
On October 26th, 2012 – The Horror film, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, was released in theaters. This scary flick was written and directed by Michael J. Bassett.
On this day in 2014 – The legendary King Diamond is performing tonight at The Complex in Salt Lake City, Utah. Metal be thy name!
