On This Day In METAL History – November 9th…
On November 9th, 1968 – Cream peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with their hit White Room. This was Cream’s second and final top ten single in the United States. This iconic song originally was featured on Cream’s 1968 double album: Wheels Of Fire.
On this day in 1974 – Bachman-Turner Overdrive hits #1 with their single You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet. The B-side to this single was Free Wheelin. You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet is featured on BTO’s third studio album: Not Fragile. Long live Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada!
On November 9th, 1974 – Jethro Tull hits #2 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart in the United States with their seventh studio album: War Child.
On this day in 1979 – Iron Maiden releases their debut EP: The Soundhouse Tapes via Rock Hard Records. The three demo songs offered on this historic recording are: Side A: Iron Maiden and Side B: Invasion and Prowler. Of course, the lead vocalist on this EP is Paul Di’Anno. Yes, this is an Iron Maiden collector’s item.
On November 9th, 1985 – Long Way To Heaven, the fifth studio album from the Canadian Heavy Metal Band, Helix, is released. This Helix album features the hits: Deep Cuts The Knife and The Kids Are All Shakin’.
On this day in 1996 – Van Halen’s first compilation album, Best of Volume I, becomes their fifth album to reach the top of the Billboard 200 Album Chart. This album spends one week at number one. Best Of Volume I goes on to sell three million copies in the United States.
Best Of Volume I features the song Humans Being, with Sammy Hagar on vocals, from the Twister movie soundtrack. The two newly recorded songs, Can’t Get This Stuff No More and Me Wise Magic, appear at the end of this album and features original lead vocalist David Lee Roth.
CHRIS JERICHO
On November 9th, 1970, Chris Jericho was born. Happy Birthday, Chris! Whoa, yeah! Chris Jericho is currently signed to the WWE and has won more WWF/WWE championship belts than even I can keep track of. An undisputed world heavyweight champion, best-selling author, actor, media personality, musician and vocalist is Chris Jericho. (Phew).
