On This Day In METAL History – September 3rd… From MOTÖRHEAD To SLAYER
On September 3rd, 1977 – The magnificent HEART peaked at number eleven on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with their Hard Rock classic: Barracuda. This was HEART’s third top forty single in the United States at that time. Barracuda is featured on the 1977 studio album from HEART: Little Queen. Whoa.
On September 3rd, 2008 – The stupendous SLIPKNOT had their fourth studio album, All Hope Is Gone, ranked at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. All Hope Is Gone sold 239,516 copies during its debut week, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
On September 3rd, 2013 – The amazing IRON MAIDEN performed at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA. This concert was on the Maiden England Tour. Hail IRON MAIDEN!
On September 3rd, 2015 – The forthcoming SLAYER studio album, Repentless, is ranked at #5, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Hell and freaking yeah!! This album releases on September 11th, 2015, via Nuclear Blast. Rest in peace, Jeff Hanneman.
On September 3rd, 2015 – The classic MOTÖRHEAD studio album, Overkill, is ranked at #82, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. This album was released back in 1978. I was 12 years old in 1978. Holy shit! Hail MOTÖRHEAD!
