Orange Goblin - 2013 North American Tour - promo flyer

Britain’s premier Stoner Metal band ORANGE GOBLIN will return to perform at venues throughout North America this Autumn. Following the band’s huge success earlier this year as main support for Clutch on their Earth Rocker North American tour, the Brits return for a full headlining run. Kicking off in New Orleans on September 27, the band will visit 38 cities around the United States and Canada before concluding in Nashville on November 9. Support on the tour will come from Holy Grail and Lazer/Wulf.

The trek finds ORANGE GOBLIN continuing a year-long commitment to performances in support of their latest studio album, A Eulogy For the Damned (2012), and first live CD/DVD released earlier this year. This rigorous schedule has seen them perform in over 25 countries across the globe, ensuring that the band is firing on all cylinders and maintaining their reputation as one of the fiercest and most exciting live acts on the planet! In fact, Clutch’s own Neil Fallon was recently seen on That Metal Show wearing an ORANGE GOBLIN shirt and proclaiming them to be one of his favorite bands!

Produced by Jamie Dodd and mastered by two-time Grammy-nominated engineer Andy Jackson (Pink Floyd), the album entered the UK charts at position 96 and for the US landed on Billboard Magazine’s Heat Seekers chart at position 38. Tickets for the tour are set to go on sale via all appropriate ticket agencies and venue box offices next week.

SAMMY HAGAR “Three Lock Box” – 1982 Album Is: Stone’s METAL Pick Of The Day!

Sammy Hagar - Three Lock Box - promo cover pic - Large!

SAMMY HAGAR – The Red Rocker. Rock ‘N Roll Legend. Sammy Hagar. Back in the day, any smart dude knew enough to have a Sammy Hagar cassette or two in the car; especially Three Lock Box. Why is that Stone? Well… chicks really dug Sammy Hagar, back then, of course! Ah, those were the  days. Oops… daze. Come to think of it, these same gals today (must) seem to think Sammy Hagar is still a Rockin’ cool dude. My wife (basically) melts apart at the seams whenever Sammy is on television or his Rock ‘N Roll is cranking! I don’t mind. It’s Sammy Hagar, the dude epitomizes Rock ‘N Roll cool. Metal be thy name.

I can remember this album being released, like it was yesterday. An old high school buddy of mine bought Three Lock Box on vinyl right away. We listened to this album quite a bit too. I was a sophomore in high school back in ’82, the year of this album’s release. I eventually snagged Three Lock Box on cassette and I actually still own it! It’s in a water-proof container somewhere in my basement. My prehistoric cassette collection has survived over the decades; regardless of natural disasters and downsizing!

___________________________

Admittedly, I still get psyched-out-of-my-Metal-mind from the tracks: Three Lock Box, Your Love Is Driving Me Crazy and Remember The Heroes. All three of those songs were HUGE radio hits, back when FM meant something. Since his early days with Montrose, through his Van Hagar glory years and up to the present day, there consistently has been an it-factor that Sammy Hagar has  glowing from his Rock ‘N Roll persona, voice and guitar. Whatever that “it” is, none of us can walk into Walmart to buy it… that’s for certain!

My Best Metal Buddy, Scott Coverdale, had suggested to me a long while ago to pick Three Lock Box as Stone’s METAL Pick Of The Day. When Scott came up with this idea, I felt it was a no-brainer! I just don’t know what took me so long to write about it! Nevertheless, I have written about Sammy Hagar’s Three Lock Box and it is forever secured as Stone’s METAL Pick Of The Day! Amen and… Whoa.

AUTHOR & PUNISHER – Live Rituals To Commence Next Week In Tulsa, OK

Posted in drone metal, industrial metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on July 25, 2013 by Metal Odyssey

Author & Punisher - promo pic - 2013 - #1

In just one week, AUTHOR & PUNISHER – one Tristan Shone – will embark upon a 19-date North American trek supporting Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals. Fittingly dubbed the Technicians Of Distortion Tour, the long-anticipated journey will commence July 31st in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Additional support will be provided by WARBEAST.

Comments Shone of the upcoming adventure: “I knew I had to step it up when Phil asked me to join this tour…the result is my most ambitious live undertaking. I have worked myself to a bloody pulp soldering, rewiring, building, to make things stronger, louder and more devastating.  I also am bringing a small team along with me as well to help with live video streaming, cameras etc.  This will for sure be a raucous affair not to be missed….”

AUTHOR & PUNISHER mercilessly manipulate the principal conventions of doom, industrial and heavy bass music relying on cold steel and soulless machinery to sonically replicate the despondency of life. Described most succinctly as “industrial doom,” this one-man project utilizes primarily custom designed and fabricated machines and speakers, devices that draw heavily on aspects of industrial automation and robotics and focus upon the eroticism of interaction with machine. Through his maniacal audio decomposition, Shone paints an often disturbing soundtrack of a world gone rotten.

“…heavy and disturbing like a nightmare you suddenly wake from but aren’t quite sure you fully escaped…” – Metal Injection

“Shone’s apocalyptic noise blends elements of industrial, doom, and dubstep, and contorts that mass into some chilling, unrecognizable form…” – Stereogum

“…a remarkably bleak and sinister record that explores the depressive and psychedelic in entirely new ways.” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy
