Finnish dark metal band Kuoleman Galleria releases their third album “Armon Loppu” on February 18th 2022. Now they present the third and last single before the album release. “Jean Grenier” is a gruesome historical story.

Watch the lyric video here: https://youtu.be/LTMU4F7_j0c or below:

“Jean Grenier is a true story of 17th century poverty and endless hunger that pushed Jean Grenier to make his own solutions. He fell into insanity wearing his wolf skin cloak that gave him a dark freedom which was ripped away from him in the end. Within every human there is a beast that will step in when the situation forces to do so.” – Band backgrounds the single.

Black Metal Project TORII Releases Self-TItled Album

Posted in Metal, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on January 2, 2022 by Metal Odyssey

The new, self-titled album from apocalyptic black/death metal project TORII is out now on CD and digital formats.

The new album sees TORII return after three years of silence, having reverted back to its original form as a solo project. With Torii, Masino continues the journey into the depths of post-metal and death/doom with a stronger focus on atmosphere. Torii released on December 17.

Purchase Torii at this location.
Stream Torii on Spotify at this location.

Track Listing:
1) The Second Renaissance
2) Synthetic Dust
3) Persephone
4) Eurydice
5) Grey Expanse
6) Void
7) Inertia
8) Torii

Though black and death metal are core elements, the basic description doesn’t quite capture the breadth of the music, colored as it is with post-metal grays and streaks of doom. TORII has created yet another masterwork of oppressive darkness and an intensity that burns continually. Artwork, lyrics, vocals, instruments, and programming on Torii were all done by Bill Masino.

NEWS FROM THE NORTH
Nordvis Newsletter 2021-11-26

LP available on January 22, 2022

Dreamlike and longing but still vicious and punishing – Nordic black metal saturated in that characteristically wild and unbound organic spirit associated with many of the Nordvis bands. Perhaps somewhere in-between Murg and Panphage, but with an atmosphere rooted in folkloric mysticism. Blodtår’s primary strength is the masterful use of contrast in mood and music, showcasing both acoustic interludes and a youthful fire that brings early Dissection to mind.

MYSTIC CIRCLE – Reunited German Black/Death Metallers Unleash Video For “Letters From The Devil” – Mystic Circle Album Details Revealed + Preorders Begin

Posted in Heavy Metal, metal music, Music, music news with tags , , , , , on November 20, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

Earlier this week, reunited German black/death metallers MYSTIC CIRCLE announced their signing to Atomic Fire Records. Today, the duo unveils a video for “Letters From The Devil,” the first single off their highly-anticipated, eponymous comeback, set for release on February 4th, 2022.

Elaborates the band of the track, “This song tells the true story of a possessed nun who reportedly received messages from Satan at night back in 1676. They were of a language that can’t be decoded to this day. Myths like these are always worthy of becoming a song within the MYSTIC CIRCLE universe, of course. Musically, we kept it diabolical but still infectiously melodic. That diabolicalness has greatly been staged in our new music video. Get seduced…!”

“Letters From The Devil” is part of a trilogy written by the band’s own A. Blackwar.

View the video, filmed and edited by Alen Ljubic and Nils Lesser, at THIS LOCATION.

Following the musical path where Infernal Satanic Verses — the final MYSTIC CIRCLE record featuring both reunion members — had left off in 1999, Mystic Circle was produced by the band and Nils Lesser at Vaultroom Productions while its artwork was designed by Brazilian artist Rafael Tavares.

Preorder Mystic Circle in various formats (box set, CD-digipak, black/red marbled vinyl), presave it, or preorder the album digitally to receive “Letters From The Devil” instantly and order the group’s new Letters From The Devil 7″ black vinyl single, which includes the exclusive, non-album B-side track “The Godsmasher,” limited to 666 copies and available now at THIS LOCATION.

Mystic Circle Track Listing:

1. Belial Is My Name, 2. Seven Headed Dragon, 3. Hell Demons Rising, 4. Letters From The Devil, 5. Darkness In Flames, 6. The Arrival Of Baphomet, 7. Curse Of The Wolf Demon, 8. Satanic Mistress, 9. Death Metal (Possessed Cover) * * CD-digipak only bonus track

Letters From The Devil 7” Track Listing:

Side A: Letters From The Devil

Side B: The Godsmasher

With seven studio albums and many tours alongside black metal heavyweights Marduk, Gorgoroth, and Dimmu Borgir under their belt, it wasn’t just a little history that German black/death metal legends MYSTIC CIRCLE left behind when they decided to call it quits in 2007. But alas, 14 years of silence are over as MYSTIC CIRCLE – consisting of Beelzebub and A. Blackwar who had actually left the group in 1999 – have risen from their graves to renew their deal with the Dark Lord.

My Recent Metal Music Purchases – END IT, AHNA And SICARIUS On Cassettes!

Posted in Metal with tags , , , , , , , on May 4, 2020 by Metal Odyssey

I purchased END IT One Way Track on cassette from M-Theory Audio. END IT is a Hardcore band, hailing from Baltimore Maryland. This is a 4 song EP and it was released earlier in 2020, via Flatspot Records. I dig Hardcore and you should too.

I purchased this AHNA Crimson Dawn cassette from the fantastic Caligari Records. If you’re looking for legit underground Metal and/or Extreme Music then Caligari Records is the epicenter of said genres! AHNA hails from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. AHNA is one damn good, ass-kicking band. I absolutely love this band.

M-Theory Audio delivered once again for me, with this brain splitting release from SICARIUS. If you love Black Metal, you must check out SICARIUS and later send me an annual thank you gift for the next 25 years or more. SICARIUS hail from The Inland Empire in California. Hell and yeah. I’ve been listening to this SICARIUS cassette in my car to and from work for several days now and it’s so inspirational!!

Thank you for visiting Metal Odyssey. With countless other things you could be doing, checking in on what Metal I’ve been buying really makes my Metal day. Stay safe and cherish life. – Stone

ENSIFERUM – Announces North American Headlining Tour With Kalmah, Abigail Williams And Aenimus

ENSIFERUM will embark on their Path To Victory North American headlining tour, featuring support from Kalmah, Abigail Williams, and Aenimus, late this fall. The journey runs from November 14th in Richmond, Virginia through December 8th in Brooklyn, New York.

Comments ENSIFERUM bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka: “It’s time to get back on the road for one last time before we head to studio to record the next ENSIFERUM album and we couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming North American tour! It’s gonna be fireworks of metal for the whole evening because we’ll share the stage with three awesome bands: Kalmah, Abigail Williams, and Aenimus!” See all confirmed dates below.

You can’t talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of ENSIFERUM, and with their latest album, Two Paths, they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, Two Paths is the quintet’s most epic and far-reaching collection of songs to date as well as their most organic.

The album literally takes the concept of Two Paths to heart, with two different versions of standout tracks “Don’t You Say” and “God Is Dead”. “Even though ENSIFERUM has always had clean vocals and choirs, harsh vocals have been the main style, and those songs worked so well with both styles that we decided to include both versions,” explains Hinkka. With Mikko P. Mustonen again handling orchestral arrangements and Lassi Logren returning to play nyckelharpa and violin on a few songs, Hinkka is also more than happy that they brought “more bombastic orchestral and down to earth folk aspects” to the record, further fleshing out their vision. This also applies to the contribution of Gyula Havancsak, who provided the artwork for both Two Paths and its predecessor, One Man Army. “It was really nice to work with him again because he always wants to hear our ideas and then he adds his own magic and improvements to them, and the result is always astonishing.”

Ljubljana’s underground legends NOCTIFERIA, since the beginning (1997) have been spreading their unique style of the Slovenian Extreme Metal Movement. Few could predict what the band and its members would mean for the whole scene in the years to come. Today, just as it sometimes seems that the artists have drained all genres of originality and that all the new musical styles have already been discovered, here comes NOCTIFERIA, bringing something fresh, a style that is uniquely theirs.

OMENFILTH: Philippines Based Black Metal Practitioners To Release Devourer Of The Seven Moons Full-Length Via Eternal Death This April; New Track Streaming + Preorders Available

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, news, rock music, world news with tags , , , , on March 6, 2019 by Metal Odyssey

Philippines-based black metal practitioners OMENFILTH will release their third full length, Devourer Of The Seven Moons, on April 12th via Eternal Death.

Following the path of traditional black metal rather than the war metal influences often associated with their place of origin, Devourer Of The Seven Moons showcases the strengths of the band — eerie melodies (“The Embrace Of Solitude”), headbanging fury (“Summon The Beast Of Damnation,” “Seared By The Flames Of Bawo”), and violent upsurges (“Bakuana Ex Inferis”). Appealing more to fans of bands like Varathron or Darkthrone than Blasphemy or Von, Devourer Of The Seven Moons shows that Southeast Asian black metal is more than just sleazy goatworship and miniguns. Following the lyrical themes of the album, the artwork of Dave Fogg is based on the ancient Filipino mythological entity Bakunawa aka “The Devourer Of The Seven Moons.”

Stream / Share OMENFILTH’s “The Embrace Of Solitude” At THIS LOCATION

In advance of its official unveiling, OMENFILTH offers third track, “The Embrace Of Solitude,” for public consumption noting, “This song is a bit more melodic than anything we have previously written – it was put together by guitarist Von Necroticus when he was suffering from a depression and that comes through in the material. In a weird way, it reminds us of old Moonspell. This release is a definitive step in our career and we all think it is very strong album.”

Hear “The Embrace Of Solitude” below:

OMENFILTH‘s Devourer Of The Seven Moons will be released on CD, cassette, and digital formats. The ten-track offering includes three bonus tracks: a cover of Vulcano’s “Bloody Vengeance” and live recordings of “Equinox Of Evil” and “Fading Embers Of A Dying Era,” both from the band’s 2016 Opus Sanguinarium offering. For preorders, visit the Eternal Death Bandcamp page at THIS LOCATION.

Long running Minnesota Death/Doom band COLD COLOURS celebrate their 20th anniversary in 2019 with the February 22 release of fifth full-length album Northernmost. In recognition of the winter solstice, the album’s first blast of freezing wind comes in the form of a lyric video for new track “Terminal Winter.”

Vocalist/guitarist Brian J. Huebner had this to say about the band’s milestone:

“If 20 years has taught me anything, it’s that you have to believe in what you are doing. No matter how many roadblocks you hit over two decades. I am thrilled that we have ‘Northernmost’ to celebrate 20 years. Our best album so far? Without question, but more importantly, the best representation of who we are and should be. This album is a testament to the chemistry of the band in 2019.”

Long overdue, Northernmost finds COLD COLOURS in top form as they mine the depths of despair on 12 dynamic compositions guaranteed to satisfy devotees, as well as newcomers with a taste for the likes of AMORPHIS, SWALLOW THE SUN, and INSOMNIUM. Recorded and mixed by drummer Mike Andrie, and mastered to perfection by the legendary Dan Swanö at Sweden’s Unisound, Northernmost is nothing short of exquisite. VALDUR released this statement concerning the album:

“Valdur – Goat of Iniquity: another chain of songs containing deep extremities and primitive, suffocating atmospheres.  This is not a continuation of our previous release; this album moves backwards in a far more violent structure and sound; like a deathmetal cassette from 1988.  ‘Goat of Iniquity’ was recorded by us and us alone in the Bloody Mountain Bunker, with no triggers or other redundant studio shortcuts.  Vicious underground metal recorded in a live setting.  Not for trendy ears!  For Valdur, ‘Goat of Iniquity’ is another step deeper into the obscure halls of integrity.”

Track List:

  1. Divine Halls of Obscurity: Pt. I
  2. Goat of Iniquity / Devouring the Whore of Darkness
  3. Divine Halls of Obscurity: Pt. II
  4. Spiritual Exhaust (The Beyond)

DUNGEÖNHAMMER – “Infernal Moon” Out Now

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, news, rock music, world news with tags , , , , , on October 14, 2018 by Metal Odyssey

Infernal Moon, the full-length debut from old-school black/thrash metal duo DUNGEÖNHAMMER, is out now on Pulverised Records. The album is available on CD and digital formats at pulverised.bandcamp.com/album/infernal-moon.

DUNGEÖNHAMMER was formed by two maniacs – one from The Netherlands, the other France – who met while studying in Milan, Italy. What started as a friendship born from a shared passion of ’80s thrash and speed metal bands soon became the repulsive, two-headed beast known as DUNGEÖNHAMMER.

With Infernal Moon, DUNGEÖNHAMMER delivers pure filth, hypnotic, convulsion-inducing rhythms and an uncontrollable urge to bang your head. DUNGEÖNHAMMER rounds out this mayhem with vocals reminiscent of Tom G. Warrior’s Hammer ov Hell days and a nod to early ’90s Scandinavian death metal.

Cover art by Timo Ketola (Watain, Deathspell Omega, Antaeus, Krypts). The vinyl edition of Infernal Moon is coming soon from Me Saco Un Ojo Records.

DUNGEÖNHAMMER is:

E. – Drums

R. – Guitar, Vocals

Stream / Share DEATH VANISH’s “Solipsism And Antichrist” At THIS LOCATION

Connecticut black metal unit DEATH VANISH will unleash the traumatic, four-song Cold Hammer Of Melancholy EP via Eternal Death next month.

The solo project of One Master guitarist/vocalist Valder, DEATH VANISH is unabashedly influenced by the primitive sounds of Beherit and Profanatica. Playing select live shows with a full lineup, the song writing and all instruments on the recorded material is performed solely by Valder. DEATH VANISH‘s Cold Hammer Of Melancholy EP follows last year’s split with Misanthropos and will be released on cassette via Eternal Death on November 16th.

In advance of its release, opening psalm “Solipsism And Antichrist” is currently streaming at the DEATH VANISH Bandcamp page.

Offers Valder of the track, “The opening track ‘Solipsism And Antichrist’ is primarily inspired by the mid-tempo, pummeling moments on Beherit’s Drawing Down The Moon, with the bass guitar playing a more prominent role than the songs on our earlier release.”

For Hammer Of Melancholy preorders and to hear “Solipsism And Antichrist,” go to THIS LOCATION.

Hammer Of Melancholy – Track Listing:

  1. Solipsism And Antichrist
  2. Cold Hammer Of Melancholy
  3. Saturnian Realms Return
  4. Bloodless Fog (Of My Mind)

“Death Vanish” refers to the instinct to isolate oneself – to “die” and “vanish” from the external world into one’s own. On both a micro level (i.e. leaving a particular social or life situation) and macro level (i.e. leaving the bounds of the material world), the ideology of this project is to understand and harness the power of this inward looking instinct.

Russian Metal Trio SECOND TO SUN Release ‘The Black’ / Album Streaming

Second To Sun - The Black - album cover pic - 2018 - #33MO22ILMN3

Russian Metal trio SECOND TO SUN are proud to announce the release of The Black, a reissue of the Blackbound (2016) album, which was re-recorded to add vocals, among several other enhancements.

The Black was released on May 16. It can be purchased at this location and is streaming in its entirety on SECOND TO SUN’s  Bandcamp page and YouTube Channel. Guitarist, bassist, and mastermind of the project, Vladimir Lehtinen released the following statement concerning The Black:

“Being the child of my thoughts, this album is the true face of the band – a well-fused combination of melodic black metal and groove metal the way we see it. As always, the album includes a separate unique story behind each song.”

“Our ambitions were through the roof on this release – we re-recorded and improved the lines for all the instruments, including the drums, bass, and even addinig some extra guitars, while Gleb’s [Sysoev] vocals sound as massive and crushing as always. Honesty and a natural aggressive sound are the qualities that distinguish independent artists from purely commercial ones these days, and we are happy that we can create music for the sake of art and not for just raking in some cash. We hope that our sound, punchy and somewhat scary, like a gust of cold northern wind in a seemingly empty home in the middle of the night will let you get fully immersed in the atmosphere that we embedded in the music – nine different stories related to darkness. Darkness in temptations, actions, soul, socium, thoughts – darkness in anything and everything you can possibly imagine. Don’t forget that each song has annotations, as we try to create real musical works of art that frighten with their beauty. And beauty is enchanting.”

The Black is available on SpotifyiTunes, Bandcamp, and other digital retailers.

Band Bio:

Second To Sun is a metal band from Saint Petersburg, Russia, founded in 2012 by its guitarist Vladimir Lehtinen. Unlike many modern metal bands, who tend to gain fans and spread their music using a more visual element – live performances, music videos, band image, etc., Second To Sun try to concentrate on the musical aspect more and use visual elements (artwork, etc.) to give more depth and back story to the music. The band’s music contains a unique blend of metal genres: on the one hand, it has the many rhythmic elements of groove metal; on the other hand, it continues the legacy of such classic Scandinavian black metal bands as Emperor, Mayhem, and Dakthrone.

Such diverse musical roots of the band protrude from Vladimir Lehtinen’s songwriting, Gleb Sysoev’s soul-crushing vocals and Fedor Borovsky’s groovy drum lines. The band releases two versions of each album – the vocal and the instrumental one. Everything the band does is 100% DIY and 100% independent – they aren’t signed to any labels and don’t outsource anything – everything is composed and recorded by the band’s members. Each individual instrumental composition is accompanied by unique artwork and a hefty description of the story the composition tells, which provides a deeper insight into the music, as well as the band’s inspiration and creative process. Second To Sun released their new album The Black on May 16, 2018.

The road demons in GOATWHORE will return to the streets this May on a short run of live dates supporting Satyricon. The MetalSucks-sponsored trek — set to commence on May 13th in Los Angeles, California and run through May 30th in Austin, Texas — follows GOATWHORE‘s recent month-long European live takeover with Sepultura where frontman Ben Falgoust performed in a cast after sustaining a broken leg and fractured foot just days into the journey.

Comments guitarist Sammy Duet of the upcoming dates, “We are fucking excited to be hitting the road for our first US dates of 2018 with Satyricon. This is our first time touring with these guys, and I guarantee you won’t want to miss these shows.”

GOATWHORE w/ Satyricon:

5/14/2018 Metro Opera House – Oakland, CA

5/15/2018 Bossanova Ballroom – Portland, OR

5/28/2018 Gas Monkey Bar & Grill – Dallas, TX

5/29/2018 White Oak Music Hall – Houston, TX

5/30/2018 Come and Take it Live! – Austin, TX

GOATWHORE‘s latest full-length, Vengeful Ascension, was released last June via Metal Blade Records. Their seventh full-length offering and second recorded reel-to-reel was captured at Earth Analog in Tolono, Illinois with longtime soundman and comrade Jarrett Pritchard (1349, Gruesome, Wolfhammer) and serves as the band’s highest charting album to date.

MetalSucks named Vengeful Ascension the band’s, “most vital album since 2006’s A Haunting Curse,” and one, guaranteed to frighten your grandmother directly into her grave.” Team Rock crowned Vengeful Ascension, “…the most mature recording in the GOATWHORE canon…,” while Loudwire added, “Vengeful Ascension has extremity black metal fans will dig, groove that will appeal to death metal aficionados, and potent guitar work thrash lovers can appreciate.”

Vengeful Ascension is out now on Metal Blade Records on CD, vinyl, and digital formats. To preview and purchase the record, visit metalblade.com/goatwhore.

“The album roars with the classic GOATWHORE sound of searing, shredding, and screams of rage. The material also tries some new things, tossing in a bit of blackened atmosphere, adding to the philosophical questions the music dives into.” — Alternative Press
