Kansas City thrash masters HELLEVATE have posted the official music video for the title track off their new album, Killicon Valley. This five-minute thrash-fest aims its rage at the use of AI in today’s culture.

“This song is the result of several years of us watching the development of AI and ranting about it with each other. So many songs out there about AI have their hearts in the right place, but they always sing about it like it’s Skynet or SHODAN; some unstoppable robot overlord coming to bring the apocalypse,” comments guitarist Joshua Cole about the song

“Then you actually use it and it’s a crappy productivity tool that only helps create more noise and BS that we all have to wade through, all because some idiot billionaires decided they liked the idea of a computer that could do all their thinking for them and replace those pesky employees. The lyrics fit the music perfectly, as it’s nasty, aggressive, relentless, and fast! If you like your thrash metal played pissed off and at warp speed, we’ve got you covered with this one!”

Vocalist Robert Browne expands on the song’s lyrical theme, “The so-called “leaders” of the tech industry have made shit more expensive, turned a multitude of careers upside-down, and gotten this moronic presidential administration to give them access to sensitive systems. And for what? It fucks up simple tasks. It fills our news feeds with garbage and lies. It gives mediocre idiots with no skill the delusions that they can make art with no effort, all at the cost of the planet that sustains our lives. Older folks who fear AI think it’ll be like a Terminator 2 thing. It’s much worse; I’d rather be blown up than starve.”

Killicon Valley is relentless in execution. Eleven tracks of the bullshit-free, ‘thrash-or-be-thrashed’ attitude the band has cultivated over their nearly 20 years of existence. Today, that fury has escalated beyond the breaking point. The result is an album that true fans of old-school thrash can blast with pride.

EXTREMA Unleash “Thrashing ‘Till The End – Live at Slaughter Club” – A 30-Year Thrash Milestone Captured in Full Force

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , on May 4, 2026 by Metal Odyssey

Italian thrash metal pioneers EXTREMA are set to release Thrashing ‘Till The End – Live at Slaughter Club – a high-impact live document celebrating the 30th anniversary of their legendary debut Tension At The Seams. The performance was recorded at Slaughter Club in Paderno Dugnano (Milan) on October 7th, 2023 – exactly three decades after the album that helped redefine the sonic and cultural framework of Italian metal.

The full show will be rolled out as an episodic live video series on the band’s official YouTube channel, alongside a digital release across all major streaming platforms.

Subscribe and follow the full series here: https://bit.ly/ExtremaLive

Released in 1993, Tension At The Seams stands as a cornerstone of European thrash: a record built on razor-sharp riffing, percussive precision, and an uncompromising compositional approach that pushed beyond genre orthodoxy. Its impact extended well beyond the Italian scene, setting new benchmarks in terms of arrangement density, production clarity, and expressive aggression.

To mark its 30th anniversary, EXTREMA returned to the stage with a purpose-built show engineered for maximum impact – conceived as a full-contact, no-compromise live assault. The setlist moves with surgical intent: a dominant portion of the debut album performed with renewed intensity, seamlessly integrated with key tracks from across the band’s catalog, culminating in material from their latest release, Headbanging Forever.

Thrashing ‘Till The End – Live at Slaughter Club captures that performance in its entirety, preserving the raw kinetic energy of the band’s live delivery while enhancing it through a modern visual production pipeline.

Beginning April 29th, all 16 tracks from the show will be released on a weekly schedule via the band’s official YouTube channel, with three videos dropping per week, structuring the release as a sustained content cycle designed to maintain engagement and narrative continuity.

Subscribe to EXTREMA’s official YouTube channel to follow the full release schedule:

Filming and direction were handled by Daniele Farina, with the production delivered in 4K. The visual language combines tight shot sequencing, dynamic camera movement, and performance-focused editing, resulting in a final product that translates the physical intensity of the live set into a sharp, high-definition audiovisual experience.

Tommy Massara – Guitars
Tiziano “Titian” Spigno – Vocals

FANTOM – F.O.A.D. Records Present Remastered Edition of Cult Hungarian Black/Thrash Demo: Lucifer jelenj meg!

Posted in Black Metal, blackened thrash, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on April 21, 2026 by Metal Odyssey

A long-lost relic of Eastern European extreme metal resurfaces in definitive form, as F.O.A.D. Records present a newly remastered edition of FANTOM’s seminal demo material, now available on vinyl.

Remastered by Patrick Engel, this upgraded version captures the raw essence of one of Hungary’s earliest and most obscure black/thrash entities, often regarded as even darker and more sinister than their contemporaries.

This official reissue includes the band’s classic 1987 demo Lucifer jelenj meg!, now expanded with 7 additional tracks taken from a rare 1987 session not featured in the previous 2016 vinyl edition. The material has been re-transferred from a rediscovered tape – the best sounding source in existence – and meticulously remastered for vinyl by Patrick Engel at Temple Of Disharmony.

Drawing influence from bands such as Bathory, Possessed, Hellhammer, Venom and Slayer, FANTOM forged a primitive yet highly distinctive sound. Their songwriting is direct and unrefined, but steeped in a uniquely oppressive atmosphere of darkness, malevolence and occult tension.

The release comes as a silver laminated LP, including two inserts featuring lyrics, rare photographs and original artwork, preserving the band’s visual and sonic identity in full detail.

Watch the trailer HERE.

A crucial document of early black/thrash from behind the Iron Curtain: raw, obscure and essential for collectors and devotees of the genre’s darkest origins.

LORD CRUCIFIER: F.O.A.D. Records Present Definitive Psychotic Thrash Archive From Cult Italian Expatriates

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , on April 19, 2026 by Metal Odyssey

A cult chapter of Italian extreme metal history returns in its most complete form, as F.O.A.D. Records present the definitive archival collection of early material from LORD CRUCIFIERCataclism, now available as a gatefold 2xLP edition.

Cataclism – Gatefold 2xLP:

An 18-track descent into pure psychotic thrash metal, self-described by the band as “psychic metal,” capturing the unhinged vision of these Italian maniacs who relocated to England during the 1980s in search of total sonic extremity.

This comprehensive release brings together the band’s early demo legacy and unreleased material, fully remastered at Toxic Basement Studio:

  • Cataclism Demo (1985)
  • Myra’s Tape (1987)
  • Who Do You Trust (1989)
  • Unreleased 3-track rehearsal/demo (1990)

Across these recordings, LORD CRUCIFIER’s evolution is laid bare, from raw, dark thrash steeped in Venom and Celtic Frost influences to a more personal and deranged style defined by speed, fractured structures and psychotic riffing intensity.

Packaging:

The release comes as a deluxe gatefold 2xLP edition accompanied by a 24-page full-color booklet, designed by Rich M. Walker (The Metalchemist). The booklet includes rare photographs, flyers, scans of original demo tapes, and archival excerpts from underground magazines and fanzines.

A vital document of a band that turned chaos into identity, now unearthed and preserved by F.O.A.D. Records. Essential listening for devotees of extreme, unfiltered thrash in its most disturbed form.

Out Now! NYC Thrashers ANOTHER DEMON EP, As Above So Below, ft. Guest James Murphy (Testament, Death, Obituary)

NYC’s rising thrash force Another Demon has announced the official re‑release of their debut EP As Above So Below, out now as of April 18th, 2026, via Ragebreed Records, with global digital distribution through Earache Records. Originally issued independently, the EP now returns with expanded reach and renewed momentum, cementing the band’s fast‑growing presence in the modern thrash landscape.

The re‑release also spotlights a major highlight from the original EP: a guest appearance by legendary guitarist James Murphy (Testament, Death, Obituary) on the track “Drawn and Quartered.” Murphy’s contribution adds a historic stamp of extreme metal pedigree to the band’s already razor‑sharp sound.

Another Demon describes their sonic identity in five words: Powerful, Fast, Aggressive, Thrashing, Evil. The band believes the EP’s wider release will resonate strongly with new listeners:

“Those who haven’t heard it yet will feel instantly familiar with what we do, and instantly want more,” comments guitarist Frank Tosi.

Crafted through years of dormant ideas and revived creative drive, As Above So Below blends classic thrash roots with atmospheric tension, horror‑driven storytelling, and a modern edge. The band’s goal is to give fans a listening experience that connects both on the surface and on a deeper, more cathartic level.

The six tracks on As Above So Below form a cohesive descent into horror, dystopia, and spiritual unraveling, each offering a different facet of the band’s dark, aggressive vision. From the frantic Evil Dead inspired chaos of “Reduced to Ash” to the crushing crisis‑of‑faith intensity of “Deaf Gods,” the EP moves through relentless riff‑driven aggression with “Skull Vessel” before hitting its standout moment, “Drawn and Quartered,” featuring a blistering guest performance from metal icon James Murphy.

Track Listing:
1. Reduced To Ash – 3:13
2. Deaf Gods – 3:05
3. Skull Vessel – 1:49
4. Drawn and Quartered ft. James Murphy (Testament, Death, Obituary) – 5:42
5. War March – 5:44
6. As Above So Below – 5:45
EP Length: 25:20

The atmosphere shifts into ominous, cinematic territory with “War March,” a ritualistic march into looming destruction, before the title track As Above So Below ties the record together through themes of duality, chaos, and spiritual inversion.

Add to your Spotify Playlist https://open.spotify.com/artist/3kNaNyl0Lcp2NffXJUwjT6?si=SbY0-uwdTE6jlNyjTIRDJA

Formed in 2023, Another Demon is built from decades of collective experience across the NY/NJ/CT heavy‑music scene. Max Capshaw (Bass/Vocals) is known for his work with Sick of It All, H2O, Murphy’s Law, Burn, and more.

Single Stream – “Drawn and Quartered” ft. James Murphy (Testament, Death, Obituary) – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7m8elmZ2H8

Max brings a hardcore pedigree and commanding vocal presence. Frank Tosi (Lead Guitar) is the primary songwriter for the EP, shaping the band’s tight, riff‑forward thrash identity. Jun Takeshita (Lead Guitar) blends 80s thrash with Japanese punk/metal intensity, expanding the band’s melodic and technical range. Dave English (Drums), the engine of the band, delivers precision, power, and dynamic rhythmic control.

“The more we’ve played together, the deeper our musical bond has grown. We’ve become a unit that knows how to read each other extremely well,” adds Tosi.

With the EP’s global re‑release, Another Demon is preparing to push further into the U.S. metal circuit. Their next full‑length album is already in development, promising an even broader and more collaborative expression of the band’s identity.

“We write these songs to satisfy our personal tastes and hope the fans appreciate that. The full‑length will show even more of our mutual personality and the best of our brand,” says Tosi.

BELUSHI SPEED BALL Announces New Album, Toxic Waste Was Everywhere In The ’80S ~ Out June 5th | New Single/Video, “I Ought Not Know” STREAMING NOW!

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , on March 15, 2026 by Metal Odyssey

Louisville thrash metal miscreants BELUSHI SPEED BALL have announced their fourth album, Toxic Waste Was Everywhere In The ’80s, arriving June 5, just in time for the band to celebrate by terrorizing audiences the following day at Milwaukee Metal Fest.

The band’s latest shameless cash grab features artwork by Andrei Bouzikov (known for his work with Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust, and High on Fire) and packs 12 ball-busting tracks guaranteed to leave your jaw broken while you claw your way out of the pit at some questionably ventilated basement show.

Commenting on the record, vocalist Vinny Castellano says:

“We are so excited to drop our strongest album to date! Toxic Waste Was Everywhere in the ‘80s is guaranteed to melt faces into a plutonium level pizza pit. For context: We will have to release a blank greatest hits album prior to this drop. We ain’t had a hit yet, and this entire album will be nothing but banger hits after banger hits. In addition, we are proud to announce Belushi’s newest additions: Bassist, Justin McClure and drummer, Ben Cotton (Rose Funeral, SIDS) will be joining the chaos for their recording debut. Making this LP a must have for any crossover thrash fan.

First revealed at Lambgoat, BELUSHI SPEED BALL has also unleashed the album’s first single and video, “I Ought Not Know.” The song serves as a deeply philosophical dissertation examining one of modern music’s most pressing questions: how exactly did Dave Coulier respond to Alanis Morissette’s immortal breakup anthem “You Oughta Know”? The band may not have the answer, but they’re more than happy to thrash about it for three minutes anyway.

Castellano adds about the song:

“Allegedly, this is the song Dave Coulier would have wrote (if he liked Pizza, Thrash, and had musical talent). At least pretty sure this is the response to Alanis writing “You Oughta Know”. Which has been the highlight of Uncle Joey’s career up until this point. We also want to congratulate Dave Coulier on his recent cancer remission. Proudly, Belushi Speed Ball, presents a music video with stop motion clay chaos, thanks to artist Adam Laughlin. And before anyone asks, No AI has been used! Enjoy.

About BELUSHI SPEED BALL:

Belushi Speed Ball is a Kentucky-based band founded in 2013 as a studio project amongst friends with a penchant for cliché crossover thrash. Their first live performances came soon after, enthralling a rapidly growing fanbase with a uniquely interactive brand of theatrics and unorthodox approach to releases and merch.

Dubbed “one of the funniest fucking things I have heard this year” by The Needle Drop’s Anthony Fantano, Belushi Speed Ball are inspired by bands from Toxic Holocaust and Anthrax to Gwar and Municipal Waste, to whom they simultaneously play homage and satirize a mean comment from a fan in their song “Ripping off Municipal Waste”, which was voted one of Leo Magazine’s top 20 songs of 2022. With a reputation for both trashing venues and meticulously cleaning them up after each individually themed performance, Belushi Speed Ball are masters of executing the unthinkable.

From playing out of a Mad Max-esque moving van and starting Terminator-inspired 300-person Nerf gun fights to releasing entire albums in N64… or Furby… formats, nothing is sacred as they continue evolving as, in the words of Metalsucks, “a freakshow of blistering thrash dedicated to laughing its ass off at blistering thrash.”

Forged in 1986, EXHORDER’s journey has proven exciting, yet tumultuous. After a twenty-seven-year absence following their final Roadrunner Records release in 1992, EXHORDER re-entered the game with an album considered by many to be a contender for the “Best Comeback Album” category. The band released Mourn The Southern Skies in October of 2019 through Nuclear Blast Records.

Fraught with euphoric peaks and crippling valleys throughout its existence, lineup changes and the 2020-2021 pandemic, EXHORDER clawed back through the muck to release Defectum Omnium, the Latin phrase for “The Failure of All,” in 2024. “The world is a dumpster fire, and we are all complicit,” noted singer Kyle Thomas when elaborating on the title. Produced by EXHORDER and mixed by Jens BogrenDefectum Omnium puts a foot back into the roots of the band’s inception.

ON TOUR THIS SPRING W/BLEED FROM WITHIN & SYLOSIS

Texas’ incendiary crossover thrash metal band LIFE CYCLES is back with a new EP, No One Escapes Death, due out March 27th via 1126 Records. Following a string of relentless singles and EP’s and countless ferocious live shows over the last decade, the five-piece continues their warpath, showing no mercy on their latest release, comprised of 6 face-melting tracks that feature the band’s signature concoction of brutal thrash, hardcore and death metal.

Commenting on the record, drummer Xavier Rios says:

“This record is an expansion of our crossover sound with a focus on groove and detail in the riffs. We really wanted to display the journey we’ve been on as a band the last couple of years through this project. The energy is on 10 and we have a little bit of new flavor this time around.

In late 2025, LIFE CYCLES gave fans a preview of the new EP with the massively heavy single, “The End Still Waits.” Today, the band ups the ante with another sonic assault, “Fatal Path,” accompanied by the music video below.

Vocalist Luis Lopez Jr discusses the track’s lyrics:

‘Fatal Path’ is about the evil persuasive ways of lust. Letting it drag you to dark places, it tricks you into believing it’s more than just pleasure, ultimately pulling back the curtain and showing that it was all an illusion.

About LIFE CYCLES
San Antonio thrash prodigies Life Cycles are doubling down on their classic Texas sound with 2026’s No One Escapes Death.

The crew’s take on classic Texas thrash is excellent, pairing mean riffs with technical precision while never losing sight of the infectious groove that dominates the sound.

“We write music that we genuinely like,” said vocalist Luis Lopez. “That we would listen to, instead of trying to be like something else. This group doesn’t operate in a box—we write the music that we like to hear.

The record perfectly captures the energy of the group’s live shows.

“It’s a party when we play,” explained drummer Xavier Rios. “I always tell people that don’t like metal ‘come to these shows’ because you’re going to have a good time.”

OVERKILL Taking Over – Revisiting A Thrash Metal Classic From 1987

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news, nu metal with tags , , , , , , , on March 2, 2026 by Metal Odyssey

My first taste of the invincible OVERKILL was their second studio album Taking Over. Released back in 1987, this masterpiece of thrash metal has stood the test of Metal time, for me. Taking Over should be filed under mandatory old-school Metal, if one is to create such a list.

I purchased this album first on vinyl at a regional record store chain called Strawberries Records & Tapes, while living in Connecticut. This retail chain no longer exists, closing its doors in 2006. Years later I bought Taking Over on CD. I never owned this gem on cassette.

My favorite song on Taking Over is the powerful thrash hym: In Union We Stand. To this very day, this song galvanizes my Metal soul and creates positive chills through my body. Electro-Violence encapsulates everything that a thrash song should be; speed, aggression, explosive and short guitar solos with a blistering rhythm section that induces moshing and head-banging madness.

Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth is still my favorite thrash vocalist of all-time. I always felt that his vocals are so unique that no other vocalist remotely sounds like him. This OVERKILL lineup, with Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth were truly pioneering and legendary, with drummer Rat Skates, bassist D. D. Verni and guitarist Bobby Gustafson.

• Taking Over is the last OVERKILL studio album that drummer Rat Skates would perform on.

Taking Over – Track List:

01. Deny The Cross

02. Wrecking Crew

03. Fear His Name

04. Use Your Head

05. Fatal If Swallowed

06. Powersurge

07. In Union We Stand

08. Electro-Violence

09. Overkill II (The Nightmare Continues)

Melbourne’s BATTLEGRAVE to Return With Enslavement ~ New Song Now Streaming

Posted in Death Metal, death thrash, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, music news, news with tags , , , , , , , , on February 22, 2026 by Metal Odyssey

Australian death/thrash duo BATTLEGRAVE are set to return with their third and most devastating full-length release to date.

Enslavement delivers 10 tracks of unbridled and vitriolic, death-laden thrash metal. This relentless barrage of calculated venom, intense riffing, and punishing rhythmic precision further cements the band’s reputation for uncompromising extremity.

Lyrically tied to themes of violence and aggression, Enslavement weaves an interlocking narrative of a subterranean demon harvesting human souls to satiate its unending hunger. This conceptual core adds a sinister layer beneath the album’s sonic brutality.

Fans can experience a sample of what’s to come with the album’s first single, “Bonesaw.”

The band comments on the song: “Bonesaw’ delivers an aural assault on the listener, with all the power of a screwdriver plunged into the eardrum. Delving into the world of dismemberment, the track lyrically focuses on the evolution of medical tools in forensic pathology and features razor sharp riffage, a chaotic drum performance, two skin ripping solos and a vocal attack aimed directly for the jugular. Prepare to be taken apart piece by piece with the bonesaw.”

Watch the official music video for “Bonesaw” here.

Stream the song on SpotifyApple Music and Amazon Music.

Enslavement is due out on April 10. Pre-order the album at: battlegrave.bandcamp.com/album/enslavement

BAND BIO:

BATTLEGRAVE are a two-piece death/thrash project from Melbourne, Australia, formed in 2017 following the release of their debut demo track, “Mortar Fire,” which quickly generated strong underground buzz.

The duo followed with the EP To Hell with War (2017) and full-length albums Relics of a Dead Earth (2018) and Cavernous Depths (2022, via Bitter Loss Records), establishing a reputation for blending savage thrash intensity with punishing death metal weight. Their releases have received consistent acclaim across the global metal press and airplay on international radio platforms.

While primarily a studio-driven force, BATTLEGRAVE have also brought their music to the stage, recruiting respected musicians from Melbourne’s metal scene to deliver their blistering sound in a live setting.

Throughout their discography, the project has collaborated with world-class drummers including Kevin Talley, 66Samus, and most recently Robin Stone, further reinforcing the precision and power behind the band’s extreme sonic identity.
