Akron, Ohio sludge metal crew RADIAN continues to slam audiences across the US in support of their third album, Subterfuge, and is preparing to launch their East Coast Fall tour in two weeks.
Following shows with The Obsessed, Acid Bath, Midnight, and an extensive Midwest US tour this Spring, RADIAN will kick off the new tour in Pittsburgh on November 2nd. The band will tour down the East Coast to perform at the Tampa Doom & Gloom Fest III alongside Novembers Doom, Age Of Ruin, Temple Of The Fuzz Witch, and dozens of others before playing their way back home, with the tour ending in Louisville on November 18th.

Set in a reimagined, modern-day Egypt, one that never fell to Roman conquest, RADIAN’s Subterfuge tells the story of a man willing to do whatever it takes to protect his home, his people, and his culture from a cabal of overlords bent on erasure for personal gain. While rooted in a rewritten history, the album is riddled with comparisons to contemporary society: exploitation, manufactured collapse, and rebellion in the face of systems designed to consume rather than sustain.
Musically, Subterfuge showcases RADIAN at their most focused and unrelenting – beautifully oppressive, groove-laden sludge, sharpened by a narrative arc and delivered with the weight of lived experience. It is both a continuation of the group’s sonic identity and a declaration of renewal; a record that mirrors the band’s own journey, carrying their vision deeper into the underground with uncompromising force.
Subterfuge was recorded and engineered by Mike Burns, except for the bass which was recorded by Brian “BeZo” Zorich. The record was mixed by Sanford Parker at Hypercube (Voivod, Darkthrone, YOB), mastered by Collin Jordan at Boiler Room Mastering (Ministry, Eyehategod, Spirit Adrift), and completed with artwork by RADIAN with the art concept and layout by Derek Vaive.
Due to unfortunate circumstances outside of the band’s control, the physical release of Subterfuge (released digitally in March) will see its physical release independently via the band’s own El Burno Records as soon as they arrive from the pressing plant in the next couple of months.

Louisiana metal icons CROWBAR, led by riff lord and vocalist Kirk Windstein with guitarist Matt Brunson, drummer Tommy Buckley, and returning bassist Pat Bruders will return to the road this week on an epic North American tour.
The journey begins with two headlining shows on September 15th and 16th in Greenville, South Carolina and Richmond, Virginia respectively. From there, the band will join Dying Fetus and Sanguisugabogg from September 17th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania through October 22nd in Nashville, Tennessee. Additional support will be provided by Left To Suffer, Deterioration, and Scorching Tomb on select dates.

On November 13th and 14th, the band will join Slayer for two special Reign In Blood 40th Anniversary shows at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California alongside Cannibal Corpse and Cavalera, followed by a performance at The Great NOLA Trendkill with Pantera, Down, BlackLabel Society, Corrosion Of Conformity, Power Trip, Eyehategod, Pig Destroyer, Rāde, and Herakleion later that month.

CROWBAR was created in 1990 from the ashes of The Slugs. Original members Kirk Windstein and Jimmy Bower (Down, Eyehategod) had a vision to move away from the trendier thrash sound of that time, and create their own brand of doom metal with a bit of upbeat hardcore mixed in.
Heavily influenced by The Melvins, Carnivore, Trouble, Saint Vitus, and a blend of Black Sabbath meets East Coast Hardcore, CROWBAR set out to create an original sound which has become influential to many bands over the last 36 years. Windstein is the only original member and has helped carry the band through numerous lineups and twelve critically acclaimed albums.
CROWBAR’s most recent studio offering, the critically acclaimed Zero And Below, was released in April 2022 via MNRK Heavy.
American heavy metal icons DOWN will unleash their long-awaited new studio album, Volume V, on November 20th via Nuclear Blast Records!
DOWN was never just a band. It’s a brotherhood rooted in childhood friendships that have endured for decades. It’s an homage to the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. It’s music meant for anybody who has ever headbanged, played air guitar, or worn a weathered tour t-shirt like armor. For over three decades, the quintet of Philip H. Anselmo, Pepper Keenan, Kirk Windstein, Jimmy Bower, and Pat Bruders have quietly built a legacy like no other. When these individuals congregate, magic ensues, conjured by earthquaking grooves, bellowing straight from the soul, and riffing loud enough to awaken an ancient deity.
This Fall, DOWN begins another chapter with Volume V.
“We were all excited about this,” smiles Anselmo. “There was a sense of lightness in the air. Everyone’s attitude was positive. There was more focus than ever. It just felt fresh again. Each one of us was individually striving for something, and I believe we achieved what we wanted to achieve. The record is a journey. It’s classic DOWN, but it’s also unique.”
“Everybody played their asses off, wrote great riffs, and Philip is singing amazing,” adds Windstein. “There’s so much electricity when we get together. To me, it’s the same vibe as our debut NOLA, but we’ve got another 35 years of experience as songwriters.”
“The five of us are from the same era, grew up together, and accomplished a lot on our own,” Keenan observes. “We all sounded different, but we’re still from the same 20-block radius. As far as what makes DOWN special, we knew one another before any of us had done anything. There’s history.”
DOWN’s bond runs deep. The guys initially crossed paths as teens in various local bands throughout New Orleans. Over the years, each musician went off and made a name for himself with Anselmo notably fronting Pantera, Keenan holding down guitar and vocals for Corrosion Of Conformity, Windstein leading Crowbar, and Bower slinging guitar in Eyehategod.
Two writing sessions yielded the bulk of material on Volume V. Upholding a tradition dating back to Down II, the members retreated to Anselmo’s home studio and their de facto clubhouse, Nodferatu’s Lair. Songs originated on the spot as they jammed face-to-face. Throughout 2025, the music naturally took shape. Keenan and Windstein chose to simultaneously record guitar together, giving the album a timeless punch.

The album opens with a blistering barnburner “The Myth.” It sets the tone with a powerhouse vocal, pummeling rhythms, and precise down-picking. Then, there’s “Merciful Fate” featuring King Diamond. It reaches an apex with a vocal duel between Anselmo and King Diamond and fret-burning solos executed at a breakneck pace of 120bpm. King’s wife Livia Zita even blesses the track with dark accents of her own.
Closer “Twice-Told Tales” caps the trip off with a heavy and hypnotic denouement. “It’s a conglomerate of tight riffs and blues rock mixed with the diligence of classic metal,” Anselmo reveals. “It’s an important song to us. I could feel Ozzy Osbourne’s influence on me in the strangest way.”
Lead single, “Blood Oath,” is anchored by an alternately hard-hitting and hummable riff, culminating on a clarion call chorus. With a sly tip of the hat to their stomping grounds, it practically bleeds old gold, black, and white. “Anybody who’s from New Orleans is going to get a kick out of the references to the city,” grins Anselmo. “Musically, it’s got a big hook. It’s a DOWN song, but it takes a turn.”
“You’ll know it’s DOWN right off the fucking bat,” adds Keenan. “It’s heavy in its attack.”

Tampa sludge/doom warriors BLOOD OF THE EARTH have officially welcomed J. Costa (THY WILL BE DONE) as the band’s vocalist, ushering in a bold new chapter for the heavy trio founded by Jeff Golden (ex-CROWBAR) and Katie Golden (ex-THE CONVALESCENCE).
Originally conceived as an instrumental project built around crushing riffs, towering atmosphere, and cinematic scope, BLOOD OF THE EARTH has evolved into a fully realized force with the addition of Costa, whose commanding voice adds a visceral new dimension to the band’s immense sonic weight. The lineup’s chemistry has already laid the foundation for a wealth of new material, with more details to be revealed soon.
Commenting on the addition of Costa, Jeff Golden says:
“Blood of the Earth has been a vision of mine for over ten years. I first became friends with J. Costa in 2010 when I was playing bass for Thy Will Be Done, during my first U.S. and Canadian tour. When Katie and I started writing new music after our first instrumental EP, we immediately knew J. was the voice we’d been searching for. So I sent him some of the material, he sent back his vocal ideas, and we were blown away. J. brings so much power, and presence to Blood of the Earth.”
Fans will also have their first opportunity to experience the band’s new lineup live as BLOOD OF THE EARTH announces its first two performances featuring Costa on vocals. The shows mark the live debut of this new era for the band and offer an early glimpse of what’s to come.

The newly announced ten-city tour will see RADIAN taking the album to the stage across Ohio, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan, scattered across the month of May. The tour will be preceded by a set at Columbus Doomsday Fest on April 24th and will be followed by additional dates to be announced. Reptilian Records presents a remastered vinyl repress of Human Abjection, the debut LP from infamous Miami sludge metal icons, CAVITY. The reactivated band is also back on the road, playing a string of shows across Florida this week, with Desertfest London coming up.
Formed in 1992, CAVITY is one of the primary acts responsible for pioneering the early sludge metal movement alongside the likes of Melvins, Eyehategod, Noothgrush, -16-, and others in the early 1990s underground, before the genre tag was a household term for most heavy music fans.
CAVITY dealt lumbering, low-end, scathing, slug-paced crushers, delivered through massive volume and sheer glacial force, releasing records through revered labels like Rhetoric Records, Man’s Ruin, Bacteria Sour, Hydra Head, and others over the years, including splits with Daisycutter, Bongzilla, and a four-way split with Cable, Jesuit, and Overcast as part of Hydra Head’s In These Black Days tribute series to Black Sabbath.
CAVITY disbanded in 2001, and its members went on to form Black Cobra, Floor, Torche, and more. After fifteen years apart, the band reformed briefly as Cavity A.D, from 2015 until pandemic/lockdown-stricken 2020, when they parted ways once again. In 2026, CAVITY returns with new live appearances and more.
In conjunction with the band’s reformation, long-running noise rock label Reptilian Records now revives CAVITY’s long-out-of-print 1995 debut album, Human Abjection, with a proper vinyl and digital reissue, nearly three-and-a-half decades after its initial arrival. The album will be available in a limited-edition gold nugget vinyl remaster with a poster insert.

The reissue is announced as CAVITY returns to the stage, with a run of dates through their hometown state of Florida, playing Tampa, Orlando, Miami, and Jacksonville this week, March 19th through 22nd. Kentucky’s Doom laden Sludge lords HIGHGATE have joined the Horror Pain Gore Death Productions roster for the release of their new full-length album, Prophecies Of Eternal Horror.
Emanating from the hills of Northern Kentucky, HIGHGATE unleash a Sludge filled, Doom laden yowl that speaks of years of struggle and despair. Prophecies Of Eternal Horror finds the dead bodies stacking to the sky as HIGHGATE grapple with global war atrocities, religious fanaticism and class warfare.
HIGHGATE has shared the album’s first single, “At Paranoia’s Poison Door.” The song is described as a blackened-doom battle cry against an overreaching government that wants us too scared to think or act for ourselves. The lyrical refrain of “crawl to your masters”speaks to the song’s theme of government capability to brainwash citizens into cowering boot-lickers.

Iconic heavy metal supergroup DOWN returns with a special cover of Dr. John’s “Right Place, Wrong Time!”
New Orleans native Dr. John was an American singer, songwriter, and pianist. His music combined New Orleans blues, jazz, R&B, soul, and funk. “Right Place, Wrong Time” was the first single from Dr. John’s 1973 album, In the Right Place, and became the most popular single of his career. The song has been featured in various films and television shows, including Dazed And Confused and American Horror Story: Coven.
DOWN’s cover and accompanying video, shot last March by Mike Holderbeast, comes in celebration of the Mardi Gras season and serves as a homage to Dr. John and his appearances on The Midnight Special TV series, a late-night musical variety show that aired from 1972 to 1981.
Elaborates vocalist Philip H. Anselmo, “Dr. John’s ‘Right Place, Wrong Time’ is probably one of the first songs I ever learned or knew of as a kid. We grew up in the French Quarter and Dr. John’s music was everywhere. Recording this song was something that I always wanted to do and I’m happy that I did it with DOWN. The video was an absolute blast to make. Even my mom is in it! Because of her, I know Dr. John’s music very well.”

CROWBAR’s most recent studio offering, the critically acclaimed Zero And Below, was released in April 2022 via MNRK Heavy. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Duane Simoneaux at OCD Recording And Production in Metairie, Louisiana, Zero And Below is the band’s most unforgivably doom-driven record since their 1998 landmark effort, Odd Fellows Rest.
CROWBAR was created in 1990 from the ashes of The Slugs! Original members Kirk Windstein and Jimmy Bower (Down, Eyehategod) had a vision to move away from the trendier thrash sound of that time, and create their own brand of doom metal with a bit of upbeat hardcore mixed in. Monolord return to the U.S. next June for their first North American tour since 2022, traversing the western United States with performances that include stops at The Regent Theater in Los Angeles and the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco.
The news arrives as the trio of Thomas Jäger (guitar/vocals), Esben Willems (drums), and Mika Häkki (bass), wraps up work on their highly anticipated fifth album.

Following a substantial Springtime tour, Akron, Ohio-based sludge metal crew RADIAN continues to book new tour dates as they complete work on their impending third album.
RADIAN’s Fall tour schedule sees them playing Female Feature Fest in Erie on September 27th as the band welcomes their new full-time bassist Carly Allman to the lineup. Several weeks later, the band heads back out on another run through the Eastern/Midwest states, with shows in Indianapolis, Columbus, Akron, Rochester, Brooklyn, and Louisville between November 1st and 17th.

Founded by guitarist Mike Burns (formerly of Rue, Fistula, Sofa King Killer), RADIAN emerged in the Winter of 2017.
