Take a look at this original DEMON 7” red translucent vinyl I bought many years ago! This was the debut single from DEMON, released back on August 5th, 1980, via Clay Records. (My source for the release date is from The Metal Archives website). The pressing amount for this DEMON debut vinyl single was 5,000!
“Liar” side
DEMON originated back in 1979, in Leek, Staffordshire, England. They are considered as one of the pioneering bands of NWOBHM.
From my research, the original members of DEMON, beginning in 1979, were: Dave Hill (vocals), Mal Spooner (guitars), Clive Cook (guitars), Paul Riley (bass) and John Wright (drums). Vocalist Dave Hill has been the only constant member over the decades and still present with DEMON.

DEMON have existed across 6 decades, with their most recent studio album, Invincible, releasing back on May 17th, 2024. A bonafide, persevering and legendary metal band! Metal be thy name! – Stone
This past Christmas, my best Metal buddy in the Metal Universe, aka Scott Coverdale, gifted me this IRON MAIDENThe Trooper Funko Pop! This is part of the Funko Pop! Albums series. Classic Eddie!I’m very delighted to own this beauty!
The Trooper has been released in the past as both a 12” and 7” vinyl, represented as the cover artwork you see here behind the Eddie Funko. I first owned The Trooper 12” vinyl many solar eclipses ago. Circa 1983 to be exact.

French Heavy Metal band, Sins of Shadows, are set to release their third full-length album! The Last Frontier, which features Tasos Lazaris on vocals, will be released on May 5th. More direct and heavier than its predecessors, the album reflects the band’s evolution toward a sharper, more dynamic, yet still melodic sound, but with a renewed sense of urgency.
A music video for the album’s first single – “Tell Me Why” – is available at: youtu.be/XjetYq_v_bY
Musically, Sins of Shadows draws from the energy of the NWOBHM (Iron Maiden, Saxon), the ambition of progressive and power metal (Symphony X, Iced Earth), and heavier bands like Megadeth or Testament. Their twin-guitar harmonies, echoing Thin Lizzy, bring a touch of warmth and nostalgia to a sound that remains both personal and timeless. In short, the Sins of Shadows sound burns with modern intensity and a passion that ignites on every stage.

BIO:
After releasing two EPs, Sins of Shadows (2014) and Today’s the Day (2016), the duo was joined by bassist Sebastien Normand (Esquys, ex-Nepenthys) in 2018, leading to the recording of their first full-length album, The Master’s Way. That album set the tone for the band’s blend of heavy and progressive influences.
With drummer Rodolphe Plachesi joining soon after, the band released Imperium, featuring Eric Casteglia as guest vocalist. Entirely self-produced like all their work, Imperium took a more conceptual and introspective direction, drawing inspiration from the philosophical writings of Spinoza and Frédéric Lordon.
Following Imperium, Sins of Shadows released several singles, including one featuring Henning Basse (Metalium, ex-Firewind), further expanding their sound and collaborations.

Five years since their latest studio offering, Strike Hard, London/UK-based iconic NWOBHM band AIRFORCE, featuring Doug Sampson (ex-Iron Maiden), returns with their much-acclaimed, new album Acts of Madness. Out now via ROAR and available as vinyl, CD and digital formats, you can order your copy of Acts of Madnessnow at this location: https://airforce.rpm.link/actspr
Acts of Madness is a comeback worthy of the standard-bearer of the entire genre and an album that will strongly resonate within the metal community worldwide. The album showcases the band’s ability to evolve the AIRFORCE sound while staying true to their signature style, that has defined them for decades. Created during challenging times, the album represents a bold step forward for the band, blending their hard rock and heavy metal influences into a powerful collection of tracks. With 11 songs and nearly an hour of material, the album delivers the epic, arena worthy sound that fans have come to expect from AIRFORCE!
Despite the adversity the band faced, including the global pandemic and the tragic loss of their producer and close friend Pete Franklin, the band forged ahead with unwavering determination. The project took a poignant turn after Franklin’s passing, as the band lost many of the original recordings. Fortunately, longtime collaborator Jezz Coad stepped in to help bring the album to completion.
Coad, who originally worked with AIRFORCE in the 1980s, was instrumental in shaping the final product. This album stands as a tribute to Franklin, whose influence is felt throughout the tracks.
Recorded initially at his studio in 2020, the production was delayed due to the pandemic, resulting in the loss of much of the material. However, the band’s resilience ensured the album was finished, with demos salvaged from previous sessions. The result is an album that feels deeply personal to the band, encapsulating both their struggles and triumphs.
AIRFORCE: Lino – Vocals Chop Pitman – Guitars Tony Hatton – Bass Doug Sampson – Drums
Fans of AIRFORCE can expect a powerful, emotionally charged listening experience, with the grandeur of heavy metal that’s perfect for large arenas! A recent performance at the Movistar Arena in Bogotá, Colombia, reaffirmed the band’s place in the metal scene, as fans responded enthusiastically to both classic hits and new material from the album. Dedicated to Pete Franklin, this album captures the heart and soul of AIRFORCE ’s journey, ensuring his legacy will live on through their music.
In support of Acts of Madness, AIRFORCE have announced a live appearance at Harder than Rock Festival 2025 in Zagreb, Croatia, on March 8, 2025, with many more club and festival appearances to follow soon!

Preview and purchase Earth Infernal atTHIS LOCATION.
SATAN released their sixth full-length album, Earth Infernal, via Metal Blade last year. Earth Infernal is a product of the times that birthed it and could only be the work of SATAN. Having churned out cutting edge heavy metal throughout the ‘80s – and reunited in 2011 – the record maintains the high standard of musicianship the band set long ago, and it is perhaps their timeliest release. “For two years, the world has been preoccupied with politics and pandemics and while we were all looking the other way our planet has continued to get hotter,” said guitarist Russ Tippins upon the record’s release. “Our Earth is now infernally hot. Almost irreversibly so. We are on a one-way trip to Hell and dragging our children along with us. Yes, SATAN has something to say about global warming.” The album entered the German Charts at position #12, the highest chart entry ever for the band.
New Wave Of British Heavy Metal icons, SATAN, will return to the stage on a three-week US headlining tour! The Hell’s Decibels Tour 2023 will commence on March 17th in West Hollywood, California and run through April 13th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where the band will headline this year’s Decibel Metal & Beer Fest pre-party. Support will be provided by NightDemon and Haunt.
Comments the band, “This is the most extensive US tour SATAN has ever undertaken. Come join us!”

Steve Harris says, “Following the release of our latest album, Senjutsu, we updated the current Legacy of the Beast Tour a little by opening the show with the first 3 songs from it, with the Japanese Palace stage set. As it doesn’t make a lot of sense to repeat this for a Senjutsu album tour, we thought about other options and we’ve decided to revisit Somewhere In Time as that tour didn’t feature in the various retrospective history tours we’ve played over the years. They were based on our 80’s concert videos and sadly we did not film that tour (blame the manager!!). We have had lots of requests from fans over the years for many tracks on it so we are now going to play them, plus of course a few others we know you will like! It will also be particularly satisfying to finally get to play some of the more epic tracks on Senjutsu, it’s been a long wait! 2023 is going to be an exciting time and we’re really looking forward to seeing everyone again in the UK, Ireland and around Europe”.
Manager, Rod Smallwood adds, “This combination of the two albums we feel is very exciting. We know fans want to hear those epic cuts on Senjutsu for the first time live and we think that by combining it with an iconic album like Somewhere In Time it will make for another really special tour for fans old and new! Of course, for a new album tour in Europe and the UK we will go back largely to the relative intimacy of arenas and we know fans will be very happy about that too!”
JUDAS PRIEST – I can remember like it was yesterday, my discovery of the iconic Judas Priest. My first Judas Priest vinyl purchase was 1982’s Screaming For Vengeance and my second Judas Priest vinyl grab was 1980’s British Steel. I was simply mesmerized by the powerful sound that was flooding into my teenage senses from these NWOBHM titans.
Back in 1982, I recall never hearing such strong and exciting music like this before. I was blown away by Judas Priest and wanted every album they had made. The vocals of Rob Halford went right through me, as if I was hit by a speeding train while I kept pleading for more. The duo guitars of Glenn Tipton and K. K. Downing left me awestruck, along with the bass of Ian Hill and drumming from Dave Holland. There was no other band like Judas Priest, during those early 80’s. I say bullshit to anyone who disagrees; there just wasn’t and it remains that way to this day.
This same magical year I bought 1981’s “Point Of Entry” on vinyl as well. My vinyl album cover art was the original shown at the top of this post. I no longer have the vinyl; the CD is in my collection though. My 2 favorite songs from this classic are “Heading Out To The Highway” and “Hot Rockin’”. If you wanna revisit some real cheesiness from those early 80s, just check out the music video for “Hot Rockin’” in your spare time; it does the song zero justice.
As a whole, “Point Of Entry” is not better than any preceding Judas Priest albums, in my Metal opinion. With that said, I dig this album much more than I dig “Turbo” or “Nostradamus”. “Point Of Entry” was never going to be looked upon as a killer follow-up to the breathtaking “British Steel”; yet it still is a formidable slab of Metal history that survived a dynamic era of eclectic and pop dominated mainstream music charts.
I remember buying No Prayer For The Dyingback in 1990. I thought it was so cool that this (now classic) album was releasing in October, the season of Halloween. This album now forever reminds me of Haloween too. Can you dig it? I bought the cassette version first and upgraded to CD some years later.
I still have the same CD (with the original cover art and not the bogus edited version) and just recently sold the cassette. Amazing I had the same cassette all these decades. Unreal. As for the album’s songs, I have my favorites: Tailgunner, Holy Smoke, No Prayer For The Dying, Hooks In You and Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter. “Holy Smoke… Smells Good”… I love that stuff.
I believe this IRON MAIDEN album doesn’t get the full credit it so deserves. In my Metal opinion, when I look at the Bruce Dickinson era of IRON MAIDEN, this album kicks more Metal ass than SeventhSon Of A Seventh Son and The Final Frontier. Sure, Adrian Smith left the band and Janick Gers came on board with the production of this album; does it really freaking matter after all these years? Both guitarists are living legends, to this Metal maniac. What’s fabulous about this album is the songs are very much written like those of their 80’s classics; with no eleven minute over progressive baloney.
Bruce Dickinson sounds so superb on this album, per usual. Bruce truly shows his range on Public Enema Number One; just another memorable song on this album for me. I honestly listened to the cassette version of this album in my car, so many times, it’s nothing short of amazing. Without a trace of doubt, I have never grown tired of No Prayer For The Dying. This release is a MUST for any new IRON MAIDEN fans out there and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. The only reason this album didn’t get it’s just due is for the year of its release. I believe if this album was released in 1987 or 1988 it would be regarded as highly as Somewhere In Time. Just saying. Metal be thy name. – Stone
Martin “The Bishop” Birch produced, engineered and mixed No Prayer For The Dying. This album was released via Epic. The iconic artist Derek Riggs created the incredible album cover.
IRON MAIDEN:Bruce Dickinson (vocals), Dave Murray (guitar), Janick Gers (guitar), Steve Harris (bass) and Nicko McBrain on drums.
