Metal Merch – Motörhead Vintage 1980’s Pins

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , , , , , , on September 26, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

I bought these Motörhead pins sometime back in the early to mid 80’s, at a store called Wasteland in Torrington Connecticut. I was serving time in high school then. Wasteland was filled with all kinds of Rock and Metal merch; plus lots of smoking and toking supplies too. This store was in walking distance to my parents house and near the Y.M.C.A., thus I made countless trips there. I would go to that Y.M.C.A. for pick up basketball games and to lift weights; it kinda kept me out of trouble. I’m laughing as I wrote that.

I didn’t always buy at each visit; just looking around the place and smelling the burning incense was a treat for me. Wasteland was an escape from the crap a teenager had to deal with, back then. It’s amazing what memories these little Motörhead pins rekindle.

I remember buying black light bulbs, black light posters, band t-shirts, pipes, lots of pins, band stickers and patches and rolling papers there. Funny how I never bought a bong or lava lamp there for they had plenty for sale. Those really were easier times. It’s fun to reflect on it all. I just wish I kept some of those band t-shirts for they’re worth lots of money now. Then again, I really wore out those shirts.

I’ve sold and traded away hundreds of Rock and Metal pins over the years; so I’m very happy I have these Motörhead pins today. When I saw Motörhead years ago they opened for Slayer. Overkill was the other opening band. Metal be thy name! Thanks for reading and stay safe out there. – Stone

JOAN AVANT Announces New Album

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , , on September 22, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

Dies Irae is the new enchanting, gothic offering from JOAN AVANT. Based out of Dallas, Texas, JOAN transcends genre boundaries writing classically inspired music with an experimental, heavy edge. Following her 2019 debut Drown Ophelia, the new release is louder, nastier, and darker.

JOAN comments:

“This album really melds a world of fantasy Victoriana with symphonic hard rock. I can’t wait to share it.”

JOAN’s musical venture began in childhood with classical training. Having become frustrated by the limitations of classical music and drawn to the artistic freedom of rock and metal music, she fused the two elements into her self-titled rock act.

Dies Irae will release on the 10th of December 2021 via Red Masque Records.

Track List:

  1. Cirque Fernando
  2. Better Broken
  3. Courtesan

KINGS AND LIARS – Sign with Salt Of The Earth Records

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , , , on September 21, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

SALT OF THE EARTH RECORDS is proud to announce the signing of Connecticut based hard rock juggernaut, KINGS AND LIARS.

Comprised of brothers, Charlie (vocals/guitars) and Nick Bellmore (drums/vocals) as well as Christopher Tayler Beaudette (vocals/bass) This album sees a more streamlined band returning to the spotlight as a three piece, hell bent on delivering some heavy as all hell, well crafted, catchy songs.

The members of KINGS AND LIARS share international notoriety as members of some severely ass kicking bands… Kingdom Of Sorrow, The Dee Snider Band, Jasta, Entierro, and Toxic Holocaust to name a few.

KINGS AND LIARS drummer, Nick, is an uber producer who has been at the helm of many many kick ass releases. When great artists want to up the heavy, they call these guys.

“When we started KINGS and LIARS we had a few goals – write serious riffs, have amazing choruses, focus on great harmonies, and be able to do it all live,” said KINGS AND LIARS bassist/vocalist Christopher Taylor Beaudette. “With this album we have definitely reached our goals sound wise, and we really can’t wait to bring this album on the road, and bring our performances to new levels.”

Guitarist/vocalist Charlie Bellmore comments on singing with Salt Of The Earth Records: “It feels like We’ve found a kindred spirit in Salt Of The Earth Records. And we have absolute trust that our new friends at the label will be the hardest workers in the room. They are going to bust ass to get our music into the ears and hands of heavy riff lovers everywhere. That’s what KINGS AND LIARS is all about. We want to get our music to everyone who has ever wanted to hear it.”

Salt Of The Earth Records founder Scott Harrington had this to say about his newest acquisition, “To say I am amped about having KINGS AND LIARS on Salt Of The Earth Records is an enormous understatement. When I heard these songs I damn near dropped. Seriously, Charlie writes epic riffs, and this band floors me. Just wait till you hear this!”

KINGS AND LIARS will release their first album on Salt Of The Earth Records this winter. In July, the band released a single titled “We Are Alive.” Stream the song at this location.

FAITH NO MORE – STATEMENT ON TOUR CANCELATION

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , , on September 14, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

Sept. 14, 2021 – Faith No More have issued a statement regarding the band’s tour cancelation:

“To say that we feel shattered by these cancellations would be a complete understatement. It has been a real challenge to return to this music after a 5 year absence, but we have been working hard for a few months now, and these last few rehearsals left no doubt that we were back to top form, which makes this statement very difficult to write.

Coming on almost two years of pandemic and lack of work, it has been heartbreaking to give our crew the news. We consider our crew like family. And then, equally importantly, we are aware of what this means to our fans, who have been patiently supporting us– hoping, as we have, for a break in this frustrating situation. Many folks have taken isolation quite hard, and patiently waited as shows have been postponed time and time again. This will be tough for them.

And yet in spite of all this, we have a family member who needs help. We believe that forging ahead with these dates would have had a profoundly destructive effect on Mike, whose value to us as a brother means more to us than his job as singer. He can count on our 100% support to do what he needs to do to get things right. Just as we also ask for your support right now.

Thank you for continuing to believe in us.”

– Bill, Jon, Mike B. & Roddy”

SCATTERED HAMLET – TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , on August 19, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

SCATTERED HAMLET are pleased to announce that they will release their album Stereo Overthrow on November 12 2021. The album is the follow up to their 2016 full-length Swamp Rebel Machine which landed at number 10 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Front man Adam Joad commented: “Stereo Overthrow is basically a middle finger in the air to the entire last year, the music industry trying to mold us into a specific format, and basically anything trying to hold you back…”

SCATTERED HAMLET was formed in 2010 by lead vocalist Adam Joad and has relentlessly toured all over the states with widespread appeal from their down to earth accessibility, blue collar work ethic and outlaw vibe. Making an impact from the outset, the title track opens with a burst of energy, distorted guitars, and dynamic vocals. Launching riff after riff the distorted guitars are a fierce force across their tracks, SCATTERED HAMLET creates a compelling sound with intricate guitar leads and mighty rhythms. From the aggressive mood of “Death or Dishonor” befitting a barroom brawl, through to the bluesy rocking “Low Class Blues”, Stereo Overthrow isn’t afraid to explore a variety of styles.

SCATTERED HAMLET has produced a dynamic album that brings bucket loads of attitude, epic riffs and a thriving rock spirit. Not holding back and ploughing through any obstacles that get in their way, Stereo Overthrow is a thrilling road trip not to be missed.

DUST PROPHET – Stream New Single

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , , , on August 18, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

Manchester, New Hampshire’s DUST PROPHET are streaming their new single “The High Capital” via The Ripple Effect. The song is inspired by John Milton’s Paradise Lost and will be released on their upcoming album which is set to come out in spring of 2022.

Listen: https://ripplemusic.blogspot.com/2021/08/dust-prophet-premieres-video-for-new.html

Drawing inspiration from humanity’s fragile existence, as well as genre-defining bands like BLACK SABBATH, KYUSS, ELECTRIC WIZARD, TOOL and CLUTCH, DUST PROPHET is poised to take the stoner & doom metal world by storm.

Guitarist/Vocalist Otto Kinzel commented:

I have always loved apocalyptic literature and the vivid imagery that comes from it. Paradise Lost is a legendary piece of literature that has inspired countless artists, and I’m no exception. I wanted to write lyrics that explored the regret of our decisions, and that “oh I really screwed up“ realization that comes with self-reflection and hindsight. You can see how Lucifer goes through this process before finally accepting his fate, which is a fate he brought upon himself.  Even though it’s a work of fiction, I relate to that feeling, as I’m sure many of us do. So lyrically The High Capital is about the story of the Fallen Angel, but it’s also about my own personal regrets and having to accept that I have made my own fate.”

THE BLOODSHOTS – To Release New Single ‘Bad Moon Rising‘

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , , on August 13, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

Canadian rockers THE BLOODSHOTS are back to follow up the success of their smash single ‘No Way Out’ with a modern, dirtied up version of the classic Credence Clearwater Revival tune, ‘Bad Moon Rising’ and BOY does it rip!

Recorded during the pandemic, you can hear the anguish come out as The Bloodshot boys tear through this classic, with vocals that cut through like a hot shower for cold bones. ‘Bad Moon Rising’ will be released digitally via Golden Robot Records on the 31st of August.

“We wanted to stay in the theme of the pandemic with police brutality, riots and so on. It’s funny how this song can be as relevant today as it was when originally released. ‘Bad Moon Rising’ has kicked around our set for a good few years and it always gets the party going – so we figured, why not release it as a single?” – The Bloodshots front man, CJ Loane

ABOUT THE BLOODSHOTS

The Bloodshots are a rock band from Western Canada. These boys can be seen performing alongside rock music’s greats, including Finger Eleven, Buckcherry, Danko Jones, Moist, Econoline Crush, One Bad Son, Three Days Grace, Monster Truck, Steel Panther, SLASH, The Lazys, Jet Set Satellite, Hawthorne Heights, Senses Fail and many more.

From small town dives to casino stages and concert halls, these blue-collar boys have proven that they have what it takes to grab the next rung of the ladder. With the support of Canadian FM Rock and Indigenous stations, The Bloodshots have been expanding their listener base aggressively. Growing traction on streaming platforms has proven to bolster their already rapidly expanding base of fans, through repeat listeners and playlist placement. Online might be your best shot at hearing the band on recording since they can’t quite seem to keep any physical copies on hand: that’s how quickly they’re selling them out, but it doesn’t stop there…

The momentum built by working with past producers Dale Penner, John Paul Peters, Sean Dealy and Steve Rizun is propelling this freight train right through the station.

HARDCORE SUPERSTAR TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘CATCH ME IF YOU CAN’

Posted in Heavy Metal with tags , , , on August 6, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

‘Catch Me If You Can’ is the explosive new single from Sweden’s finest export of street metal, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, and is scheduled to be released on all digital platforms on August 20th.

‘Catch Me If You Can’ picks up the pace and builds on the momentum created by the band’s highly successful 2018 release ‘You Can’t Kill My Rock N’ Roll’. This saw the band travel across the globe from America to Australia, playing to some of the largest audiences of their career and including an unforgettable night; where they broke an attendance record for a headline act on the opening night of the world famous Sweden Rock Festival.

Loud, aggressive and totally unrelenting, ‘Catch Me If You Can’ bursts out the speakers with an onslaught of attitude, combined with a pounding backbeat and a chorus that hits like a freight train. This single sets the tone perfectly for the band’s upcoming album Abrakadabra, which is scheduled for release in March 2022.

Recorded at both Osterlycken and Bombastik in Musikhens Hus in Gothenburg, the band returned to their roots to work with acclaimed producer Johan Reiven, who they previously collaborated with on their 2005 Black Album. The result is an intense and hard-hitting collection of songs that drummer Adde Moon describes as a “natural follow up to the Black album” and definitely “an album for the fans that is best shared with good friends, cold beer and very loud speakers.”

Since that time, singer Jizzy Pearl has kept the band alive with his own version – JIZZY PEARL’S LOVE/HATE! At the same time, Jizzy played, recorded and toured with platinum artists  such as RATT, L.A. Guns, Steven Adler and currently Quiet Riot. Jizzy Pearl has released five solo records, including 2018’s Frontiers record ALL YOU NEED IS SOUL. 2020 was the 30th anniversary of BLACKOUT IN THE RED ROOM, and to celebrate, JIZZY PEARL’S LOVE/HATE played the entire album in full!

AUTOGRAPH – ‘Turn Up The Radio’ 45rpm Treasure Find

Posted in Metal with tags , , , on June 11, 2021 by Metal Odyssey

A couple of years ago I found this 45rpm of AutographsTurn Up The Radio, at a thrift store. It cost a mere 50 cents. Yes, 50 cents! I was lucky to find this; usually 80s Heavy Metal is nowhere to be found at a thrift store. Collectors tend to hoard the good stuff like this.

I was fortunate to see Autograph open for the fabulous Heart in the latter half of the 80s. Those were the glorious Arena days. I’ve been their fan ever since. Turn Up The Radio is from Autographs’ 1984 debut album: Sign In Please.

Below are more pics of this 45rpm. It’s in excellent playable condition too, with no scratches or scuffs.

LONG LIVE AUTOGRAPH.
