“Of Stones And Stars” – Released On August 30th!

Chrigel of ELUVEITIE quotes for “Of Stones And Stars”, the new full-length of CALADMOR:

“I’m really excited about the upcoming album of my Swiss friends CALADMOR! Not only because of the indisputable improvement compared to their debut, “Midwinter” but also because “Of Stones and Stars” is in my opinion, simply a very originally arranged Epic Folk Metal-Opus, with clean (mainly female) vocals, coming along with harsh vocals.

Sounding very simple so far, there is much more about “Of Stones and Stars”! For I think CALADMOR’s true strength lies within their skills in creating a sound with stunning diversity still preserving the typical CALADMOR-Style within all their songs. On “Of Stones and Stars” CALADMOR coquette with every imaginable genre.

There are for example, tracks in true Amon Amarth manner, fine melodies reminding of good old AMORPHIS ’, Tales From The Thousand Lakes’, songs in pure Epicness like those of MOONSORROW, as well as Songs in typical Central Europe Pagan Metal tradition of the band EQULIBRIUM & Co.; CALADMOR succeeds in bringing all those styles in without being self-denying or forgetting about the typical CALADMOR trademarks. Really an interesting album!”

CALADMOR Facts:

Their first album “Midwinter”, released in 2010 by the German label Twilight Zone Records, was already convincing the audience. With their second album “Of Stones And Stars”, the taken course will be continued.

On their brand new release, the band received great support by nobody else than Chrigel Glanzmann of ELUVEITIE (already the first album “Midwinter” was supported by ELUVEITIE’s bagpiper Päde Kistler) as well as virtuoso Joel Gilardini (The Land of the Snow, Lunatic Fringe und Mulo Muto).

CALADMOR is born from the band Pale which was founded in 2001.
The meaning of the name – “dark light” – is a significant paradox marking the music of CALADMOR:
Epic tunes creating epic wideness, thundering guitar riffs and stirring melodies meet the vocals of Babs and drummer Maede,
leading the listener on a philosophical path through the land of myths from exhilarating heights down to the edge of an abyss.

Not only towards linguistic concerns (lyrics in English, German, Middle High German and Old Norse) but also in matters of style, the music of CALADMOR shows great diversity and contrasts; thus giving breath to the distinctive and typical, Caladmorian Epic Folk Metal.”

Michael Kiske Returns To PLACE VENDOME

Place Vendome - Thunder In The Distance - promo cover pic

Michael Kiske Returns To PLACE VENDOME With Another Melodic Rock Masterpiece: “Thunder In The Distance” – Due For Release In November, On Frontiers Records.

_______________________________________________

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of the much-anticipated third album from PLACE VENDOME entitled “Thunder in the Distance” on November 1st in Europe and November 5th in North America.

PLACE VENDOME is the Melodic Rock project featuring UNISONIC and former HELLOWEEN singer Michael Kiske on all lead vocals and production from Dennis Ward (PINK CREAM 69).

PLACE VENDOME started in 2004 when Kiske, following a self-imposed exile from the rock and metal scene which lasted a few years after his departure from HELLOWEEN and solo career, accepted in 2004 to be part of a Melodic Rock oriented concept put together by Frontiers Records’ President Serafino Perugino.

The resulting PLACE VENDOME debut album brought Kiske back to a more straight ahead and Rock sound, still very accessible and melodic and far from the Heavy Metal stereotypes of blood, violence and hate which Kiske never had anything to do with. He collaborated for the first time with PINK CREAM 69’s Dennis Ward, Kosta Zafiriou and Uwe Reitenauer with Gunther Werno (VANDEN PLAS) on keyboards. In a quite ironic twist of fate Michael found himself to work with members of PINK CREAM 69, when the band’s original singer Andy Deris took his place in HELLOWEEN when he left.

______________________________________

The very favorable acceptance of the first PLACE VENDOME album planted the seeds for a second recording entitled “Streets of Fire”, which was produced during 2008. The concept was slightly changed, with some outside writers such as Robert Säll (Work of Art), Ronny Milianowicz (Saint Deamon) and Torsti Spoof (Leverage) handling the bulk of the songwriting, with Dennis Ward still handling the recording and production sessions.

Following his stint with the band UNISONIC, Kiske decided to go back once again to the PLACE VENDOME concept with more melodic rock oriented songs which – once again – have been selected by Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino from outside writers including: Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear), Timo Tolkki (ex-Stratovarius), Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline), Roberto Tiranti and Andrea Cantarelli (Labyrinth, A Perfect Day), Tommy Denander (Radioactive), Sören Kronqvist (Sunstorm, Issa), and Brett Jones.

“I am having a very open mind in terms of music anyway, and the Place Vendome vibe is a pretty different approach than Unisonic” says Kiske. “I like many tracks off the Place Vendome albums, but especially Guardian Angel, Streets Of Fire, I Will Be Waiting, Set Me Free from the previous albums or now Maybe Tomorrow. For me the vocals are the most important part of a song of course”.

Dennis Ward once again produced and mixed the whole affair with such musicians as Dirk Bruineberg (Consortium Project), Gunter Werno (Vandenplas) and Uwe Reitenauer (Pink Cream 69) completing the lineup. Another total masterpiece from Kiske and Place Vendome is about to hit the market. A true must for all Melodic Rock fans !

Track Listing includes: Talk To Me; Power of Music; Broken Wings; Lost in Paradise; It Can’t Rain Forever; Fragile Ground; Hold Your Love; Never Too Late; Heaven Lost; My Heart is Dying; Breakout; Maybe Tomorrow; Thunder in the Distance.

Samples of some of the album songs can be listened to below:

FISTULA – Cleveland Sludge Kingpins To Kick Off Shows With Nightstick This Week; New Tracks Posted

Fistula - promo tour flyer

Long-running Cleveland ministers of sludge, FISTULA, are preparing to spread their aural disease along the East Coast with a short stretch of live assaults. Scheduled to commence on Monday September 2, the Rock ‘N’ Roll Vermin Tour 2013 will filthify its way through Allston, Providence, Brooklyn, Philadelphia and Allentown. FISTULA will be joined by their diseased brethren, Nightstick. Hearing will be damaged. Feelings will be hurt.

FISTULA – Rock ‘N’ Roll Vermin Tour 2013

w/ Nightstick

9/02/2013 Obrien’s – Allston, MA

9/04/2013 Dusk – Providence, RI

9/05/2013 Acheron – Brooklyn, NY

9/06/2013 The Mill Creek Tavern – Philadelphia, PA

9/07/2013 Sportsman’s Café – Allentown PA

 _______________________________________

In other FISTULA activities, the band has a host of resonated new offerings on the rise including the brand new Vermin Prolificus LP set to detonate via To Live A Lie early next year. FISTULA will be crash-test driving the tunes “Smoke Cat Hair and Toe Nails,” “Pig Funeral” and “Goat Brothel” throughout next week’s live takeover. Additionally, FISTULA will appear on a split cassette with Radiation Sickness to be unleashed through Die Song this October as well as a split 12″ with Ravens Creed through Doomentia in 2014. Finally, the band will be featured on the forthcoming release from XXX-rated funk legend Blowfly. Dubbed Black in the Sack, the eight track offering marks Blowfly’s first studio album in seven years and includes a curious collaboration with team FISTULA, Dave Szulkin (Blood Farmers) and Tesco Vee (The Meatmen) on the track “Dick Stabbath.” Black in the Sack will see release via PATAC Records this Fall.

Sully your ears with “An Eighth of Meth Scabs” (from the Radiation Sickness split) and “Dick Stabbath” (from the Blowfly full-length), now playing at THIS LOCATION.

Stay tuned for further FISTULA dealings to be divulged in the coming weeks.

“Cleveland’s sludge-thrash royals FISTULA have strung together (strung out?) a catalog of violent, unapologetic releases oozing utter scorn for all things ridiculously mainstream and vanilla…. The plod balances the shred, and the fury lines every note with napalm. The tempo shifts may suggest a bi-polar, manic, borderline personality glitch, but anyone familiar with this band will hardly raise a red flag. That sleeping giant you poked with a stick never woke up. Instead, Fistula again showed up with no warning. Your skin is bubbling, your left eye is gone, and you’re drooling as you sift through the soil looking for loose teeth. Oh, stop it. You’re embarrassing yourself.” – Heavy Planet

Queensryche - album promo flyer - band pic - 2013 - #13

Queensrÿche – At year’s end, the ever legendary Queensrÿche are poised to have their new and self-titled album on Metal Odyssey’s Best Of 2013 lists and for legit reasons: Queensrÿche has been rejuvenated with newfound (and very welcomed) passion and vibes of Heavy Rockin’ electricity, which I hear and feel within their new songs; and Fallout is just one fantastic example!

With new (and accomplished) lead vocalist Todd LaTorre, the energy and sound of Queensrÿche has been refueled on their newest release; while my Metal expectations for this new incarnation of Queensrÿche have been unbelievably satiated at least two-fold! A memorable Queensrÿche album it is, so I’ve been convinced. Metal be thy name!
