Candlelight Records today confirms November 11th as the North American release date for Obsideo, the new album from Dutch metal extremists PESTILENCE. Produced by vocalist/guitarist Patrick Mameli, the album is the band’s inaugural recording for the label and first new material from the four-piece since 2011.

“We have gone beyond our human limits to achieve the highest form of brutal music,” reveals Mameli when discussing the album’s creation. “The musicianship is such high quality; it is really ten of the most demanding songs written in death metal.”

Together with long-time guitarist Patrick Uterwijk, Mameli, bassist George Maier and drummer Dave Haley deliver a blistering and genre-lifting effort. “I am chuffed to have Dave in the lineup,” confirmed Mameli earlier this year while discussing the band’s updated cast. “He is one of the best extreme drummers in the world and his talent bring PESTILENCE to new levels. George is a young and talented bass player that will turn some heads. Both are really down to earth and real easy-going guys. Patrick, of course, is my most respected and long-going friend and musician.”

Obsideo boasts Mameli and his innovative guitar work. Utilizing eight-string guitars for the album’s recording, the celebrated musician expands his already massive arsenal of riffs. “The eight string guitar opens a lot of doors,” notes Mameli. “It gives lots of new musical options and allows us to make the music sound more brutal than before.  It also forces me to sing in a higher pitch because I don’t want my vocals in the way of the low-tuned guitar parts.  My vocals sound more intense and manic than before.”

Formed in 1986, PESTILENCE took influence from early American and German thrash metal to cultivate its now signature death metal sound. Recording four albums before disbanding in 1994, the band helped to usher the rise in popularity for the genre. Fourteen years later the band reformed; releasing two albums and exciting fans with live performances around the globe. “Mameli and company chose to steer efforts down paths previously unexplored whilst maintaining their vintage essence,” noted Chronicles of Chaos on the band’s 2009 album, Resurrection Macabre (Mascot).

PESTILENCE plans to begin touring in support of Obsideo in the early months of 2014; North America to be included in their worldwide takeover. The band’s last stateside performance was as a featured artist on the second annual 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise that left Miami shores on January 23, 2012.

Drugs Of Faith - Architectural Failures - promo cover pic

Northern Virginia-based trio DRUGS OF FAITH have completed the final stages of their upcoming new EP, as they prepare it for release late this Autumn.

The first new recordings to emerge since their 2011 Corroded album, DRUGS OF FAITH let loose with four brand new tracks on the freshly finished Architectural Failures EP. The band’s patented rocked-out grindcore approach here shows some brutally awesome dissonant tones and more expansive dimensions with a crushing metallic production courtesy of the sessions at Developing Nations with Kevin Bernsten (Full Of Hell, Inter Arma, Ilsa, Coke Bust) and final mastering by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed). Architectural Failures will see release in late November as a one-sided 12″ limited to 300 copies with a digital download via Malokul, the DIY label started by D.C. act Disciples of Christ.

Coming from co-founder Richard Johnson (Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Enemy Soil), DRUGS OF FAITH has endured since 2003, with a plethora of releases out via Poland’s Selfmadegod Records amidst several demos and compilation spots including Relapse Records’ This Comp Kills Fascists Vol.2. And simply put, they fucking shred. Following recent live actions including this year’s MACROCK conference in Virginia followed by a spot on the Philadelphia date of this year’s Decibel Magazine Tour with Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death and Immolation, DRUGS OF FAITH will again take to the streets with updates to be announced in the weeks ahead.

Architectural Failures Track Listing:

1. The Incumbent

2. Insanity

3. Paper Trails

4. Placing Bets

Pop Rock Band Leads with Singles “Stuck in This” and “You’ll Just Have to Wait”

____________________________________________

Los Angeles, CA – Fresh off the success of their 3-song EP in 2012, the pop/rock ensemble, Wise Girl is transcending with their debut full length album, You’ll Just Have to Wait. Complete with rock and roll beats, spunky pop melodies and Weitz’s classic bold voice, You’ll Just Have to Wait has something for everyone. Last month, the band teased their album by releasing the first single “Stuck in This” via social networking properties, receiving an overwhelming response and praise from fans. “Stuck in This” was merely the tip of the iceberg for this emerging band, as they unleash their best work to date with the release of You’ll Just Have to Wait, now available on iTunes.

After the unexpected admiration of their first EP, Wise Girl was determined to return to the studio to build upon their feat and in-turn have created 10-original tracks that encompass their blood, sweat and tears. Lead singer Abby Weitz calls the album “a big step towards Wise Girl’s future. We put a lot of time and effort into this album and the three of us are really proud of what we have achieved. It brought us a lot closer as a band and we all admire and respect each other’s musicianship even more so than before”.

Below, crank up, listen to and watch So Broken. Whoa!!

“Stuck in This,” the lead single features Weitz’s virtuous vocals, which are complemented by the fiery guitar riffs of Chris Fasulo and vigorous drums from Harry Keithline. The infectious title track “You’ll Just Have to Wait” highlights Weitz’s signature and unparalleled melodies with her witty lyrics. Digging deep, Weitz penned a snapshot of her life, from love lost and friendships soiled to internal conflict, leaving a piece of her heart in each track. Weitz tells fans that the album comes from “something so heart wrenching, turned into something positive. All of the pain that I went through was worth it because of the outcome; some of my favorite songs that I’ve ever written.”

The debut album from the pop/rock band was produced by guitarist Chris Fasulo and written by singer/guitarist Abby Weitz. Authentic lyrics, wit and unexpected tonalities color this band’s uniquely intricate songs. The idea of performing music for a living has been the dream of each member since childhood. Abby and Chris both picked up the guitar at age thirteen, while Harry picked up the sticks at age eight. Abby originally started the band and looked to Chris for help in producing her tracks; the musical chemistry between them was evident from day one. The earnest lyrics and harmonic sounds of the band are in large part contributing factors to the Wise Girl success.

Anxious to share their latest work with their devout Wise Girl fans, You’ll Just Have to Wait is finally available on iTunes. Be sure to share your love with Wise Girl and follow the band at www.WiseGirlMusic.com or www.facebook.com/wisegirlmusic.
