Band Leaving Static Tension One Month After Signing

_____________________________

Britain’s Kaine have announced that Saxon Davids will be joining the band on guitar permanently. Saxon recently filled in for Anthony Murch on the band’s tour across Britain and Ireland with Mordred.

The band will now move forward as a 5 piece with Rage Sadler on rhythm guitars and vocals, Dan Mailer on bass and vocals, Anthony Murch on lead guitar, Saxon Davids on rhythm & lead guitars and Chris MacKinnon on drums.

Band founder Rage Sadler said: “We are very happy to welcome Saxon to the Kaine family. Saxon did a great job with us on tour; he showed absolute professionalism in learning and performing the songs live in such a short space of time. Personality wise he was a perfect fit for the band and after the reviews we had from our London show we thought why not?”

Saxon commented: “I’m very happy to become a full-time member of Kaine and I am looking forward to what the future holds for the band as a 5 piece Metal machine! Rage approached me pretty much straight after the Islington O2 Academy gig and discussed with me the possibility of this happening. That tour was one of the best experiences of my life from a personal and musical perspective, so to be asked to join the guys permanently is a great pleasure.”

Kaine has also departed its American record label Static Tension less than a month after signing with them. This was due to the label being reluctant to print physical releases for the band as it didn’t believe it had the ability to sell copies. The band believes that remaining with the label is pointless as a result. This is the second record label the band have left this year.

Rage stated: “Unfortunately Static Tension were unable to commit to creating physical materials. If a label doesn’t have the confidence in its own ability to market and sell a band just weeks after signing it, then there is really no point in continuing.”

Kaine will not be looking for another label in the near future and will continue along the DIY route unless an offer of significance comes the bands way.

The nine-song release, featuring singles “I am Nothing” and “SadioWitch,” is also one of the band’s most critically acclaimed to date with Mojo Magazine declaring the album “the most uncompromising album of the year” and Pitchfork saying the album “deserves every accolade thrown its way” and going on to say “they’ve surpassed expectations and proved that they’re still as vital as they ever were.”

Produced by Oborn, the album was recorded at Toe Rag Studios in East London, with analog gear used exclusively throughout, with finishing touches done at Skyhammer Studio in “deepest, darkest” Cheshire by Chris Fielding.

ELECTRIC WIZARD SIGNING

Electric Wizard visit Fopp to celebrate the release of their new album, ‘Time to Die’.

When & Where?

Thursday, 23rd October – 5:30pm – Fopp Manchester, UK

What?

Doom Metal legends Electric Wizard visit Fopp to sign copies of their eighth studio album ‘Time to Die’. Limited edition ‘SadioWitch’ 7-inch singles will be available in store.

Electric Wizard release the eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2010’s ‘Black Masses’. ‘Time to Die’ saw the temporary return of original drummer Mark Greening, along with the addition of new bassist, Clayton Burgess. Latest single ‘SadioWitch’ is accompanied by the band’s first music video, created by the mysterious and alluring Shazzula Vultura.

The short film’s content is concisely summarised by frontman Jus Oborn, who describes it as ‘clandestinely filmed scenes of Luciferian depravity.’ The Guardian refer to the album’s tracks as ‘the mutant children of Black Sabbath’s revered blueprint’, while Pitchfork suggest that the track ‘Funeral of Your Mind’ is ‘the garage-rock-tinged psychedelic rocker… that Birmingham’s finest could’ve written if they had stuck with the drugs and off the telly’.

Formed in Wimborne, Dorset, the band bonded over a mutual fascination with Black Sabbath, the occult, horror movies, vintage recording equipment and the 1970s. For over 20 years, Electric Wizard have recorded a series of landmark Metal albums, which amalgamate elements of Sludge, Stoner Metal, Black Metal and Doom. The band have recently performed a series of festival dates across Europe, including ‘Sonisphere’ UK, Portugal’s ‘Reverence Festival Valada’, ‘Hellfest’ in France and ‘Roskilde’ in Denmark.

The Electric Wizard creative core of Jus Oborn & Liz Buckingham will visit Fopp ahead of their gig at The Ritz, Manchester.
