About AGGRESSION:
Formed in 1985 under the original moniker “Asylum” to be later changed to AGGRESSION, the speed metallers unleashed their 1986 demo “Forgotten Skeleton”, (which saw an album release in 2005) and their debut full length “The Full Treatment” in 1987, which lead them to become one of the most popular bands to rise out of the Quebec and Canadian metal scene. With their manager at the time (Johnny Hart), AGGRESSION quickly became a household name with their concerts sold out everywhere and a fan base that grew from hundreds to thousands in no time.
Other bands such as Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, Hallow’s Eve, Destruction and others all wanted to see the beast for themselves during tour stops in Montreal. Playing numerous concerts with bands such as Anvil, Celtic Frost, Voïvod, Nuclear Assault, Agnostic Front, D.R.I., Possessed, Dark Angel, Crumbsuckers, Sacrifice and others, AGGRESSION decided to call it quits in 1989 due to external influences.

PSYCHOMANCER have released their new studio album, Inject The Worms, back on April 7th, 2015, via Orchestrated Misery Recordings. Proving that the Midwest is and (hopefully) forever will be a nurturing habitat for underground Death Metal, Psychomancer have unleashed 6 songs of terror that I have embraced, within my Metal world, like a long-lost and cuddly goat. I don’t know where my dependency to Death Metal came from; perhaps it is due to my lifetime infatuation with monsters Or maybe due to my 8 years of Parochial schooling back during the 70’s? All the same, I am a content fan of Death Metal, due to the overwhelming choices of bands and albums that are out in the world today.
Inject The Worms is my first introduction to Psychomancer; this band originally formed around 1998. What always catches my eye first, when shopping around for Death Metal are the album cover’s artwork. The more grotesque the Death Metal cover art doesn’t always equate to the best music heard within, in my Metal opinion. The cover art for Inject The Worms (see above) is both old-school and morbidly fun for my taste; it’s not insanely gut spilling nor repulsive. The less is more mantra for cover art kicks right in here, folks. Thus, I really dig this album cover art.
The 2015 band lineup for Psychomancer are: founding member Duston Bullard on bass and vocal duties, with new members Corey Blackstad on drums and guitarist Curt Hutchison on rhythm and lead guitars. Every delicious sonic nuance in which die-hard Death Metal fans look for is readily heard on Inject The Worms. Quaking bass, blast beats, earth shattering double bass and sadistic growling vocals; with plenty of psycho speed-driven guitar and rhythmic magic. Doom infested riffing and sludgy bass chugging is featured on this album as well. The acoustic guitar intro and haunting chants on Abhorrent Wings Of Decay are both a surprise and successful musical elements; too often Death Metal bands can become too predictable. I love it when a Death Metal band can add that something extra to an album.
I honestly believe every fan of Six Feet Under, Obituary, Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse will be licking their chops while listening to this Psychomancer album. Hell, I sure did. What does licking your chops mean anyways? Onward we go. There are melodic Death Metal moments to hear on this album too, with the intro to the title track being a very good candidate to point out. Inject The Worms has proven to be a winner for my Death Metal tastes and it’s all about these 6 songs not sounding alike. I can not say enough about the hell-raising vocals of Duston Bullard and with the overall musicianship from Psychomancer. Inject The Worms is an album I very highly recommend to all my Death Metal brethren. Metal be thy name. – Stone
On February 15th, 2015, Poland’s DEIVOS released their fourth studio album of Death Metal savagery, via Selfmadegod Records. The album is Theodicy and it’s 6 songs that are damn decent to listen to. Guttural vocals, heavy-duty grooves and melodic guitars (yes, melodic) are showcased in a very big way by DEIVOS; with also an impressive nod to some splendid Speed Metal on the axes too.
The drumming and percussions are so good to listen to that it’s downright supernatural. I have the drummer’s name as Wizun and he is a sonic blast of fireworks behind the kit! This is drumming that sets DEIVOS apart from many other Death Metal bands, with fills aplenty and entertaining as hell. Please note, I’m not talking about copious noise and drumming that is so fast you cannot follow the beats.
Vocalist Hubert is a monster treat to listen to and an obvious student of old-school Death Metal. Each song has its own identity; no song on this album falls victim to its own chaos or redundancy, there is songwriting of substance here on Theodicy, my Metal brethren! Originating back in 1997, with lineup changes along the way, DEIVOS has impressively planted themselves within the tier of Death Metal bands that are to be taken serious; for both perseverance and talent, in my Metal opinion. In other Metal words, DEIVOS is no overnight sensation of a Death Metal band.
Overall, this is a very, very strong release from DEIVOS, from beginning to end. DEIVOS truly has kicked my Death Metal loving ass with this album. The album cover artwork is a work of Metal beauty; this is the stuff I want to visually take in. Death Metal and Black Metal fans should be on the lookout for this DEIVOS album. Support DEIVOS and buy Theodicy. Metal be thy name. – Stone

Legendary metal frontman and Housecore Records founder, Philip H. Anselmo, is bringing his horror-themed film and metal festival back for a third year. After a great ride in Austin, the festival will kick off in San Antonio, Texas at the Aztec Theater on November 13th – 15th, 2015.
The decision to return was driven by the desire to honor his friend and festival co-founder, Corey Mitchell, who tragically passed away last October. Mitchell was the driving creative force behind the festival’s success and Anselmo believes there is no better way to pay tribute to his friend than to carry on for a third year.
“I’ve got a great team in place to help make this what Corey and I wanted it to be,” he says. “There are a lot of mixed emotions here because no one can replace him. But, we know he would want this to continue and so that’s what we’re going to do. We miss him and think about him every day.”
Bands already confirmed to play are Suffocation, Autopsy, Cripple Bastards, Nails, SYk & DalilaKayros, YOB, Eyehategod, Child Bite, Warbeast and many more to be announced soon. Maryland Deathfest co-founder Ryan Taylor will be booking bands this year and will help Anselmo craft a musical lineup that would make Mitchell proud.
In addition to showcasing the best in extreme metal, the festival will screen film gems from the personal vaults of both Anselmo and Mitchell. Horror filmmakers are encouraged to submit their films and winners will be selected in various categories and given the coveted Rot-Scar Award. “When Corey and I started this thing, it was important to us that we help independent filmmakers get their incredible work discovered,” Anselmo continues. “Nothing has changed, in that respect.”
Tickets to go on sale soon! Stay tuned for additional announcements.

REVOCATION has spent the last eight years converting fans to their cause with four full-length albums, an EP with Scion AV, and a charismatic live show led by guitarist/vocalist Dave Davidson. The Boston-based band also features the staggeringly talented lineup of Dan Gargiulo on guitar, and Brett Bamberger on bass.
REVOCATION has firmly been established as one of the genre’s finest and continue their campaign as part of the Metal Blade Records roster. The band’s latest full-length, Deathless, was recorded with acclaimed producer Zeuss at Planet Z Studios in Massachusetts.
Deathless debuted on the Billboard Charts beating their previous album by more than 30 spots to land at #124 on the Top 200 Chart. Deathless also debuted at #10 on the Billboard Hard Music Albums Chart (Current), #114 on the Billboard Top Current Albums Chart and #1 on the Billboard New Artist Chart. This is REVOCATION‘s second straight debut on the Top 200 Chart.
During the recording process, the band shot a series of videos documenting their work. All three episodes, along with the music video for the title track, can be seen now at metalblade.com/revocation.
Is it fair to state that as metalheads we spend a lot of our time checking out new records? Hunting out the next big thing that we can introduce our friends to, something new, and something that evokes the feelings we once got on an almost daily basis back in the day when first discovering metal.
However, on occasion we’re brought back to the classics, the old Metallica records, early Annihilator and so forth; the exact records we discovered on the voyage of metal discovery. Yet sometimes those old classics just don’t quite hit the spot… And that’s exactly what makes bands such as Prowler a breath of fresh fucking air. Everything we’ve heard before is there, it’s familiar, but it’s new and that’s the fundamental difference.
Formed in 2010, Prowler went on to release four EP’s and a box set before signing to Slaney Records to release their debut album After You in 2013, and The New Blood EP later that same year. The thrash titans hailing from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina are now on the verge of unleashing yet another beast of a record, their second full length entitled From The Shadows. Overseen by Roger Lian, the same man who was responsible for Slayer’s South Of Heaven and countless others including Overkill, Pantera and Damageplan; you can be assured a great production.
The world won’t go on fire, journalists won’t be scrambling over each other to make up new genre terms (thank god) but that is exactly the point! What you will find is a sterling record in the vein of old school thrash, heavy, destructive and as brazen as the first waves of the genre and unleashed by a troupe of young fiery musicians with the same raw energy captured back in the day on the likes of Ride The Lightning.
Artwork (as seen above) was completed by Spanish artist Noël Puente.
From The Shadows – Track List:
1. R.O.T.L.D
2. Out Of The Fog
3. I Am Wolf
4. The Thing Not Seen
5. Pet Sematary (The Ramones Cover)

PAUL DI’ANNO
Paul Di’Anno was born on May 17th, 1959, in England. Happy Birthday, Paul Di’Anno! Hell and whoa! The legendary Paul Di’Anno is world-famous as a Heavy Metal singer and songwriter. He was the first recording vocalist with the iconic Iron Maiden; being featured on their first two studio albums: Iron Maiden (1980) and Killers (1981). Pictured above is Paul Di’Anno’s live album from 2014: The Beast Arises.

During his post Iron Maiden years, Paul Di’Anno had enjoyed musical success with his bands Di’Anno, Battlezone and Killers, while giving it an impressive try with supergroup Gogmagog. There have been numerous guest appearances by Paul Di’Anno on other artists albums, along with being featured on many tribute albums. Paul Di’Anno’s solo career continues to this day.

Boston – Don’t Look Back (1978/Epic Records)
Anyone that doesn’t own this second studio album from Boston needs to put down their prune juice and take a course in Rock History.
IRON MAIDEN – Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son (1988)
Yes, there are a few UFO’s hovering around (a half of an) Eddie, on this album cover. This was another cover art masterpiece from the great Derek Riggs. Whoa!
ASIA – Aqua (1992)
The above UFO could also be considered a USO (Unidentified Submerged Object), if the imagery on this album cover is under water. Confused? So am I. By the way, this ASIA CD is out-of-print and costs just under $40 (U.S.) on Amazon.com. Whoa.
RUSH – Clockwork Angels Tour (2013)
I cannot identify that large and strange-looking aircraft above that concert stage while RUSH is performing; therefore it is a creepy UFO. ‘Nuff said.

CRUZ DEL SUR MUSIC is proud to announce the vinyl LP release of DARK QUARTERER‘s new album Ithaca. The target date for release is September 19th. The album was released on April 25th on CD by Metal on Metal Records, to much acclaim.
Mastered specifically for vinyl format, the release will include two exclusive 2010, live bonus tracks that were specifically chosen by the band for their quality and uniqueness. The first is a version of band’s own classic “War Tears.” This version of the track is sung in Italian, making the interpretation of singer Gianni Nepi particularly passionate. The second is the long, touching piece “Deep Wake,” another song that shows Dark Quarterer’s incredible skills. In addition to over 70 minutes of stellar, progressive metal music, this deluxe DOUBLE LP GATEFOLD EDITION will also include a 4-page booklet with lyrics and a download card.
Ithaca is a concept album inspired by the 1911’s poem of the same title by a Greek poet, Konstantinos P. Kavafis (Constantine P. Cavafy), who used Odysseus’s travel from the Trojan Wars back to his home-island as a metaphor for the journey of life; the goal is not important, but the journey itself. Stylistically, it’s a mix of ’80s epic heavy metal with ’70s progressive rock, and some elements of doom.

2. Night Song
3. Mind Torture
4. Escape
5. Nostalgia
6. Rage of Gods
