MAGISTER TEMPLI – To Release ‘Into Duat’ On Cruz Del Sur Music In August

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, rock music with tags , , , on July 1, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Magister Templi - promo band photo - 2015 - #4408NIL

After having deeply explored the different aspects of Crowley’s philosophy on their previous releases Iao Sabao and Lucifer Leviathan Logos, Norwegian occult Heavy Metal band MAGISTER TEMPLI returns with its second full length, Into Duat, in which they focus thematically on some of the central myths and gods of Egyptian Mythology (“Duat” is the realm of the God Osiris).

Into Duat is targeted for release at the end of August, followed by an active live campaign, which will bring the band to play at the No Sleep Til Dublin Festival 2015 and afterwards on an European tour with Christian Mistress. Into Duat was recorded in Oslo between Evil Octopus and Sorcerer studios, with former band member Simon Aarset as technician.

As in their vinyl 7” release Nyarlathotep (2014), the band had moved even further away from their doom-inspired beginnings, towards a more open-minded musical experience strongly based on filthy traditional Heavy Metal. Heavy guitars, intense drumming and commanding vocals are key ingredients.

Track List:

  1. Creation
  2. The Lord of the Morning
  3. Osiris
  4. Horus the Avenger
  5. Anubis
  6. Sobek
  7. Slaying Apophis
  8. Destruction

BROTHERS OF THE SONIC CLOTH – Seattle Doom Merchants To Kick Off North American Live Incursion With Neurosis Next Month

Posted in Metal, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , on June 30, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth - promo band photo - 2015 - #0615ILNVM

Debut Listed Among NPR Music’s 25 Favorite Albums Of 2015 (So Far)

Seattle doom merchants, BROTHERS OF THE SONIC CLOTH, will bring their lumbering odes to stages throughout North America next month supporting Neurosis. Slated to embark on July 31st in Lawrence, Kansas, the trek will coil its way through sixteen cities, including one headlining performance, coming to a close on August 16th in Houston, Texas. Additional support will be provided by The Body, Sumac, Iron Tongue and Pinkish Black on select dates.

Comments legendary guitarist/vocalist Tad Doyle of the journey, “Being a huge fan of what Neurosis does for so long, we are really excited that we have the honor and privilege of being support for them on this tour. It is a gift for us to be able to do this.”

BROTHERS OF THE SONIC CLOTH features Doyle, formerly of Tad and Hog Molly, bassist Peggy Doyle and drummer Dave French (The Anunnaki). The trio undraped their lead-footed, self-titled debut last February via Neurot Recordings. Captured at Robert Lang Studios and Doyle’s own Witch Ape Studio and mixed by Billy Anderson (Sleep, High On Fire, Eyehategod, Taurus, Ommadon et al), Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth splices thick, jagged riffs through chilling post-punk drumming and hulking compositions that blow soulfully hot and desolately cold, sometimes within the confines of one track and serves as Doyle’s first recorded release in nearly fifteen years.

Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth - promo album cover pic - 2015 - #0631MOILGSFM

BROTHERS OF THE SONIC CLOTH is the sound of earthly decomposition and planetary ruin; a slow, suffocating, spellbinding dance towards a looming apocalypse. Having already earned hails from fans and media globally, NPR Music recently listed the band’s debut among its 25 Favorite Albums Of 2015 (So Far) noting, “Seattle’s Tad Doyle has been at this heavy game coming on three decades now. With bands like Tad and Hog Molly, he could take a bummer riff and make it boil and hum in ways others just couldn’t. Years in the making, BROTHERS OF THE SONIC CLOTH‘s debut is a thoroughly satisfying doom metal LP that is fully awake and teeming with power.”

BROTHERS OF THE SONIC CLOTH:
7/31/2015 Liberty Hall – Lawrence, KS w/ Neurosis, The Body
8/01/2015 Mill City – Minneapolis, MN w/ Neurosis, The Body
8/02/2015 The Majestic – Madison, WI w/ Neurosis, The Body

8/06/2015 Opera House – Toronto, ON w/ Neurosis, The Body
8/07/2015 Bug Jar – Rochester, NY * BOTSC headlining show
8/08/2015 Paradise – Boston, MA w/ Neurosis, Sumac, The Body
8/09/2015 Warsaw – Brooklyn, NY w/ Neurosis, Sumac
8/11/2015 Union Transfer – Philadelphia, PA w/ Neurosis, Sumac
8/12/2015 Broadberry – Richmond, VA w/ Neurosis, Sumac
8/13/2015 Cat’s Cradle – Carrboro, NC w/ Neurosis, Sumac
8/14/2015 Masquerade – Atlanta, GA w/ Neurosis, Sumac
8/15/2015 House Of Blues – New Orleans, LA w/ Neurosis, Iron Tongue
8/16/2015 Warehouse Live – Houston, TX w/ Neurosis, Pinkish Black

Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth is currently available on CD or LP at THIS LOCATION.

“The Bros.’ debut lurches to life with a lumbering, grunge-influenced tune, ‘Lava’… From here, things slow down to funeral doom pace for much of the next six tracks/35 minutes. However, the doom and darkness is shaded with some interesting melodic textures and moments of lightness that come at unexpected times and add a dynamic gravity to the material.” – Decibel

BLOW THE SCENE Hosts PAWS Benefit Show July 10th: Mother Brain, Gut Feeling, Grin And Bear It, Die Choking, Drones For Queens To Perform

Blow The Scene - Paws Benefit Show - July 10 - 2015 - Philly - promo flyer

Next week, Philadelphia-based underground music, arts and activism webzine, Blow The Scene, will host its annual benefit show for PAWS – the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society – with a wide array of artists set to perform and a wealth of other activities confirmed.

Blow The Scene Presents A Night of Music / Art & Animal Love, set to take place next Friday, July 10th at The Pharmacy in South Philly. Sponsored by Psychics.com, Earsplit PR and Sit & Spin Records, the show will be used to collect donations to aid PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society), and will include live performances from Mother Brain (Long Island grindcore champs), Gut Feeling (North Carolina hardcore act with members of Catharsis, Undying and more), Grin And Bear It (Cleveland powerhouse PV/punk), Dying (Philly XVX hardcore), Die Choking (Philly hyper grinders) and Drones For Queens (Philly shredders).

Additionally, an art show is part of the benefit, where many artists from all over the world are donating art prints that will be on display and for sale at this cash and carry event curated by Ryann Casey. Attendees will be able purchase rad art pieces for very reasonable prices. All monies collected from the art sales in addition to the $10 admittance fee will ALL be donated to PAWS!

Those not in the area can also take part in the benefit; people everywhere can donate and get awesome rewards from BlowTheScene including band pictures of your choice printed on METAL!

Check it all out and please support the fundraiser RIGHT HERE.

Also see the official event page HERE, an article on the bands performing at the show HERE.

Those attending please do not bring your pets to the event; as much as we’d love to see them, loud shows are not a healthy environment for animals with sensitive hearing.

Artists can also donate their works to the event. Donated art can be any work on paper (old or new) and should be unframed (all work will be hung with wire and/or T-pins). We are also asking that all pieces be no larger than 20×24 so we can plan space accordingly and should be priced reasonably (the max price is $50 since this is a cash and carry event). Because of the quantity of work going into this show, we are asking that everything be either dropped off or received by no later than Sunday July 5th.

DESOLATE PATHWAY – Announce Two-Track Single For Later This Year

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, rock music with tags , , , on June 28, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Desolate Pathway - promo live band pic - 2015 - #062815MOGNLSLBVM

Traditional Doom merchants Desolate Pathway have unveiled plans for new material which explores a different direction to their début album Valley Of The King – a two-track single, titled: Into The Realms. Guitarist Vince Hempstead has called it “a foot into our journey of Greek mythology.”

The A-side, entitled “Into The Realms Of Poseidon”, features acclaimed Sorrows Path guitarist Kostas Salomidis for a dose of Greek authenticity. On the B-side is a five-minute instrumental titled “Tales Of Glaucus”, a prophetic sea-god who came to the rescue of sailors and fishermen.

Along with the usual digital formats, there will be a limited amount of CDs available at the Fest Of Hades performance in Wakefield, UK. The band have stated on their Facebook page that they may look into a small vinyl run, depending on costs. In addition, their second album is on the horizon, with a tentative deadline of early 2016.

“Into The Realms” has a release date of October 31st, 2015 to tie in with the Fest Of Hades performance that day. Facebook event is here:

https://www.facebook.com/events/633317746795099/

The band is also due to hit the road several times this year. Dates are as follows:

Aug 30th: The Carlisle, Hastings, w/ Lord Volture & Toledo Steel

“Into The Realms” has a release date of 31st October 2015 to tie in with the Fest Of Hades performance that day.

Bio:
Having formed in April 2014, Desolate Pathway bring together their love of traditional and retro doom bands such as Candlemass, Cirith Ungol and Solitude Aeternus, as well as ideas drawn from epic fantasy such as Lord Of The Rings, A Song Of Ice And Fire and the Vikings TV series. Channeling these into their début album Valley Of The King, the band has been met with great success and praise. Among the high-scoring reviews and top-notch gig offers, one of the standout unique moments is an appearance on iFood.tv’s Brutally Delicious program, a heavy metal cooking show hosted by Bruce Moore.

Aerosmith - Classic Band Logo - B&W - #11077

On June 27th, 1994 – The super-duper Aerosmith became the huge name band to release a song on the internet as a free download. Head First was the song that was available on CompuServe for one week; unfortunately fans had to endure an hour’s worth (or much more) of download time to hear the song. Those were the days. Head First was an unused song from Aerosmith’s Get A Grip sessions.

Kiss - Coffeehouse - publicity photo - #00856MO33

On June 27th, 2006The KISS Coffeehouse opened for business, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. For this happy grand opening, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley made their appearance. Unfortunately, the KISS Coffeehouse closed in late September of 2013, due to a lack of growth in sales. A clearance sale of all KISS novelty items took place during the closing days of this establishment as well. Goodness gracious.

BAT – Speed Metal Miscreants Added To Mammoth Gwar B-Q Lineup; Additional Live Abrasions Confirmed + New Living Fast Episode Available

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, rock music with tags , , , on June 26, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Bat - large logo - B&W - #1

BAT, the unholy supergroup featuring Municipal Waste guitarist Ryan Waste on bass/vocals, former DRI drummer Felix Griffin and Volture guitarist Nick Poulos, is very pleased to announce their recent addition to this year’s Gwar B-Q in Richmond, Virginia alongside the likes of The Descendents, Cro-Mags, Ghoul, Ringworm, Child Bite and more! The band’s Gwar B-Q appearance follows a headlining performance in Raleigh and serves as a precursor to a rare run of live abrasions through Richmond, Cleveland, Chicago and Pittsburgh in September.

Comments Waste of the oncoming onstage demolitions, “After finishing up our debut full length album on Hells Headbangers this summer, we in BAT are gearing up for a short run around some rad US festivals. The first being the Gwar B-Q in our hometown of Richmond, which is always wet and wild. Come September, we hit the road again to play in Cleveland at the Hell’s Headbash. We’re thrilled to play with our pals in High Spirits and Midnight on the opening night. Beforehand, we’re cramming in another hometown gig and hitting Chicago and Pittsburgh to round out the Labor Day weekend. Come rage with us and always beware of the BAT!”

BAT:

8/14/2015 Southland Ballroom – Raleigh, NC

8/15/2015 Gwar B-Q @ Hadad’s Lake – Richmond, VA

9/03/2015 Strange Matter – Richmond, VA
9/04/2015 Hell’s Headbash (Agora) – Cleveland, OH

9/05/2015 El Rey Ballroom – Chicago, IL
9/06/2015 Smiling Moose – Pittsburgh, PA

Bat - large logo - B&W - #1

The Virginia/Texas meta punk marauders in BAT released their Primitive Age EP last year on cassette via Tankcrimes and on 12″ vinyl via Hells Headbangers. Channeling the spirits of Venom, Hellhammer, Motörhead and Discharge, the EP features five filthy numbers of confrontational Kill ‘Em All angst and enough vocal venom to level a nation. Said Last Rites of the offering, “This nasty little beast is a crust-a-licious demo-nic hybrid of ugly gutter thrash with a vicious punk spirit and a dose of injected blackness. Jump back thirty years to an uncomfortable-yet-awesome three-way between Cronos, Lemmy, and Tom Warrior (or, whatever, Satanic Slaughter) – then BOOM, BAT! A close 21st-century equivalent would be Midnight, only with less sleazy Satanic debauchery and more of an all-encompassing generalized rebelliousness.”

The Primitive Age EP is available digitally at the official BAT BandCamp page HERE and on cassette via Tankcrimes HERE (where you’ll also find additional merch). You can also nab a copy of BAT‘s recently issued “Cruel Discipline” seven-inch out on Hells Headbangers HERE as well as the 12″ version of Primitive Age.

In related news, Living Fast, the heavy metal talk show created by Waste continues to reap views from the headbanging public. The first episode featured John Gallagher of Raven while the second episode, divided into two parts, takes place during the Caulture Shock Tour with Cauldron and Waste’s heavy metal band, Volture, where Waste visits with Michael Denner (Mercyful Fate) at Beat Bop Records, his second-hand vinyl shop located in the heart of Copenhagen. Recently unleashed, Canadian edition third episode features Dave Carlo and Mike Campagnolo of Razor and number one Anvil fan, Colin “Maddog” Brown. Get viewing at THIS LOCATION.

Eddie Vedder Joins Band Onstage at Last Show … for Now

_________________________________

Eddie Spaghetti, front man for Seattle’s ass-kicking saviors of rock and roll, the Supersuckers, has been diagnosed with Stage 3 oropharynx cancer.

In order for Eddie to undergo immediate surgery and radiation treatment, the band has cancelled its upcoming European tour and also postponed work on the follow-up to last year’s Get the Hell.

Within hours of learning this news, friends of the Supersuckers responded in the ass-kickin’, never-say-die manner you’d expect from fans of “the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World,” by raising more than $20,000 in the first 24 hours of the campaign to Support Eddie Spaghetti’s Cancer Fight.

“I have been blown away by the incredible generosity of friends and strangers,” says Eddie. “It shows you that even the darkest times can offer some light, some hope. Thanks everyone.”

The Supersuckers played its last show (for now) on Thursday, June 18 to a packed house at Seattle’s Tractor Tavern. Among the evening’s highlights was a performance of the Ramones’ “I Believe in Miracles,” featuring surprise guests Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam and Blind Marky Felchtone from Zeke.

“Now apparently the battle begins,” adds Eddie. “Friday I went in for my pre-op physical (I’m pretty sure I got a D+) and then surgery is slated for this week … It’s weird because I feel fine right now, but I know that I’m not fine and need to go through all this crap to get better.”

Donate to Support Eddie Spaghetti’s Cancer Fight.

Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider Featured On New CD By Dual Female Fronted Power Trio TANG

Tang - Blood & Sand - promo album cover pic - 2015 - #062515MOHPTSLN

“TANG Rocks!” – Dee Snider

NYC – One of the hottest releases of 2015 is undoubtedly the new album by dual female fronted alternative metal power trio TANG featuring a guest appearance by legendary Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider! Titled “Blood & Sand”, TANG’s new CD features a duet with Dee Snider on the track “Reign of Blood”!

Says guitarist Denny Colt, “Bonnie knew Dee from back in the day when they both did the club circuit…I hooked up with Dee when I was in Van Helsing’s Curse with him..so we have quite the connection. He’s a really nice guy & did such a great job on the duet with Bonnie on ‘Reign of Blood.’”

Hailing from New York, TANG features Bonnie Parker on Vox & Bass and Denny Colt on Vox, Lead Guitar & Keyboards, and have been trading phrases back and forth in their own ripping style since 1999. Mark Edwards, formerly of Criss Angel & Burning Star, now brings skull-splitting drum beats and a monster attitude. TANG has toured Europe, Canada and the US opening shows for such artists as Crucified Barbara, Girlschool, W.A.S.P., Dokken, Hammerfall, Helloween, Dee Snider, Symphony X and many, many other cool bands.

Denny played guitar, toured & recorded in Dee Snider’s “Van Helsing’s Curse”, the gothic rock orchestra. Bonnie & Denny have currently played, toured & recorded, with Corky Laing from Mountain in his new band “Corky Laing & The Memory Thieves”. They are also working with Corky in Finland, writing, recording & performing on a rock opera called “Playing God” which was presented in Helsinki in 2014. The opera was presented in the US in April 2015 at Yale University & Hunter College.

I love the total rock vibe of the new TANG CD! It’s real, it’s vital – it’s brilliant.” – Corky Laing

TANG is featured in the new Fred Carpenter film, “Charlie Mantle”, performing their song “Crashing”. The film debuted summer of 2014 and stars Armand Assante, Sean Young and Robert Funaro. Says Bonnie, “TANG was in the film performing the song in a Russian mob club as the lead character, Robert Funaro (of The Soprano’s), is at the end of his dirty cop career & everything is ‘crashing’ down around him. Great concept by director Fred Carpenter!”

Now much to the excitement of their fans worldwide, on September 1, 2015, TANG is releasing their new CD “Blood & Sand”!

Says Denny, “TANG is currently promoting the release of ‘Blood & Sand’ doing shows in the tri-state area. We are talking with promoters in Europe, Scandinavia & the US about setting up a tour. Our first CD, ‘Mental Pollution’ was on a Swedish label, Raw Power UK and we toured Scandinavia to support it. The tours were very successful culminating with TANG performing at the Sweden Rock Fest.”

TANG:

Denny Colt – Guitar, keys & vocals

Bonnie Parker – Bass & vocals

Mark Edwards – Drums
