Blow The Scene - Paws Benefit Show - July 10 - 2015 - Philly - promo flyer

Next week, Philadelphia-based underground music, arts and activism webzine, Blow The Scene, will host its annual benefit show for PAWS – the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society – with a wide array of artists set to perform and a wealth of other activities confirmed.

Blow The Scene Presents A Night of Music / Art & Animal Love, set to take place next Friday, July 10th at The Pharmacy in South Philly. Sponsored by, Earsplit PR and Sit & Spin Records, the show will be used to collect donations to aid PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society), and will include live performances from Mother Brain (Long Island grindcore champs), Gut Feeling (North Carolina hardcore act with members of Catharsis, Undying and more), Grin And Bear It (Cleveland powerhouse PV/punk), Dying (Philly XVX hardcore), Die Choking (Philly hyper grinders) and Drones For Queens (Philly shredders).

Additionally, an art show is part of the benefit, where many artists from all over the world are donating art prints that will be on display and for sale at this cash and carry event curated by Ryann Casey. Attendees will be able purchase rad art pieces for very reasonable prices. All monies collected from the art sales in addition to the $10 admittance fee will ALL be donated to PAWS!

Those not in the area can also take part in the benefit; people everywhere can donate and get awesome rewards from BlowTheScene including band pictures of your choice printed on METAL!

Check it all out and please support the fundraiser RIGHT HERE.

Also see the official event page HERE, an article on the bands performing at the show HERE.

Those attending please do not bring your pets to the event; as much as we’d love to see them, loud shows are not a healthy environment for animals with sensitive hearing.

Artists can also donate their works to the event. Donated art can be any work on paper (old or new) and should be unframed (all work will be hung with wire and/or T-pins). We are also asking that all pieces be no larger than 20×24 so we can plan space accordingly and should be priced reasonably (the max price is $50 since this is a cash and carry event). Because of the quantity of work going into this show, we are asking that everything be either dropped off or received by no later than Sunday July 5th.

VISION OF DISORDER Brooklyn Headlining Show Now A RED CROSS BENEFIT For Hurricane Sandy Victims

Posted in charities, charity events, hardcore, hardcore metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on November 13, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Today VISION OF DISORDER confirms that all the proceeds from their upcoming headlining concert in Brooklyn later this month will be donated to the Red Cross, in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

What was simply a headlining show for the band has now been dubbed “Picking Up Change: Hardcore For Hurricane Relief.” VISION OF DISORDER initiated this act of support to their community after witnessing the catastrophic demolition across the New York metropolitan area and beyond as Sandy surged through our region on October 29th. VOD, as well as the other bands performing at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on November 24th, will contribute donations to the Red Cross to help aid the decimated areas and many displaced local residents throughout the Northeast as the season grows colder.

In a collective statement the members of VOD had this to say: “Our hearts go out to those severely affected by this tragic incident. Being from Long Island, Hurricane Sandy has (quite literally) hit home for us. The music scene in Long Island, The New York metro area and New Jersey have been so supportive to VOD over the years that we felt donating the proceeds from the Brooklyn show was a no-brainer. We are proud to announce that the opening acts (Primitive Weapons, Yuppicide, Swarm of Arrows) have also agreed to donate their proceeds. We hope that this small gesture can add to the ongoing efforts and help rebuild these traumatized areas. We look forward to seeing you all on Nov 24th to support this cause.”

In addition to the funds generated by VISION OF DISORDER, Yuppicide, Primitive Weapons and Swarm of Arrows at “Picking Up Change: Hardcore For Hurricane Relief” going directly to the Red Cross, show attendees are invited to bring supplies – canned/non-perishable food, batteries, toilet paper, etc. – for area shelters and food banks, as donation bins will be posted outside of the venue. Supplies to aid pets and animals displaced by the storm are also acceptable and will be donated to Last Resort Animal Rescue in New Jersey.

The members of VISION OF DISORDER, in an alliance with Candlelight Records, Earsplit PR, Metal Insider, the Music Hall of Williamsburg and all parties involved with this event, are reaching out to all area hardcore and metal fans to join them on November 24th, not only to take part in what is sure to be a high-action live show, but more importantly to help contribute to this imperative objective of getting the displaced families and businesses back on their feet. Doors open at 7:30pm.

Full ticket info for this event can be found RIGHT HERE.

NYC-based icons VISION OF DISORDER released The Cursed Remain Cursed – their first album in over a decade –via Candlelight Records in September. Inarguably one of the most dynamic and cleverly destructive releases in VOD‘s twenty year history, the critically acclaimed album surges with over forty minutes of brand new material, produced by Will Putney (Shadows Fall, Suicide Silence) and mixed by Cameron Webb (Motörhead, Social Distortion).

March 1st, 2012 – Dan Spitz, founder and former guitar player for Anthrax and current creator of Red Lamb, and his wife Candi as well as their twin four-year-old boys are raising awareness of the life-changing effects of Autism by participating in this Sunday’s Walk Now for Autism Speaks at City Commons in West Palm Beach, Fla.

“Autism is what makes our children special, we do not see it as a disability. They are beautiful, intelligent, silly and we love that they see the world differently,” explains Candi Spitz, who is also on the committee for Autism Speaks. The couple’s four-year-old twin songs Autism diagnosis has given the Spitz family a mission to do all they can for not only their children but the 1 in 110 U.S. children currently diagnosed with the disease.

The entire Spitz family will be walking at the Mar. 4 Walk Now For Autism Speaks event and will film portions of a documentary on their sons at the event. The currently untitled documentary is being produced by, a prominent parenting website that won both a 2010 and 2011 OMMA Award for Excellence.

Dan Spitz formed Red Lamb in 2010 and recently released a self-titled debut album co-produced with Dave Mustaine (Megadeth). Spitz and Mustaine also co-wrote the song “Puzzle Box” for the release; a video for the track is in the works with footage from Sunday’s event being included. Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson) oversaw all programming for the album. Vrenna and Spitz are also working on a side project with more details to be announced shortly.  The first video from Red Lamb is for the song “The Cage,” which can be seen here: .
