New Jersey’s COGNITIVE will be hitting Full Force Studio to record its second full length album Deformity.
The band will be working with ‘Smoking’ Joe Cincotta who has worked alongside bands such as SUFFOCATION, BODYCOUNT and INTERNAL BLEEDING. Artwork for the album will be created by renowned illustrator Par Olofsson (SPAWN OF POSSESSION, IMMOLATION, ABYSMAL DAWN, JOB FOR A COWBOY). The legendary Alan Douches will master the upcoming album at West West Side (SEPULTURA, CONVERGE, HATEBREED).
Following the addition of new members guitarist Harry Lannon and bassist Ian Bainbridge, COGNITIVE have forged new ground and are eager to unleash the bands new material which will present a more formidable sound and direction. The band is currently seeking a label and aiming to have the album released by March 2016.
Today Northern Irish Death Metallers Rex Shachath release their latest offering, Revocation Of The Blood Elect, via French label Great Dane Records, and to mark the occasion are streaming the EP in full right here!
Tackling social issues such as the state of modern society and man’s exorbitant desire for wealth at the expense of our natural world, the band have harnessed a sound more befitting to such issues in comparison to their debut release Sepulchral Torment. Old school ideals kneaded with modern Death Metal notions on a much more up to date and punchier production is what we have here.
Artwork (as seen above), was completed by UK artist Godmachine famed for his work with bands such as Suicide Silence, Bring Me The Horizon, Cannibal Corpse and Job For A Cowboy (to name a few). The EP was recorded, mixed and mastered by Joe Thompson at Sonic Forge Studio, Cardiff, Wales.

Rabid Armageddon from old school Swedish/Icelandic Death Metallers UNDER THE CHURCH (feat. former members of NIRVANA 2002), is out now on Pulverised Records.
Be forewarned, the vultures are circling around this grim chapel – the Swedish old guard UNDER THE CHURCH have unearthed the latest sepulture Rabid Armageddon. Once featured as FENRIZ’s Band of the Week, UNDER THE CHURCH have truly stepped it up a notch with remarkably catchy hooks and their already recognizable corpse-decaying Death Metal stench! Rabid Armageddon is proof once again that crass-ridden and obscene Swedish Death Metal is still a winning formula and shall eternally reign supreme. Artwork and layout by Mattias Frisk (Ghost, Vanhelgd, Entrapment, Vampire, etc).

Critical Praise:
“It’s so nice to find a band still early in their discography who consistently kill it with each new release, especially when their weapon of choice is raw, unrepentant, bestial death metal of the old school.” – No Clean Singing
“Putrid and ferocious death metal in the vein of old gods like Grave, Entombed, Unleashed, etc.”– Zombie Ritual Fanzine
BIOGRAPHY:
Under The Church… Death Metal… pure and simple.
Born of the base desire to create raw and pure Death Metal, Erik Qvick and Lars Henriksson formed the band during 2012, after the final rites were administered to the reanimated corpse that was Nirvana 2002. Inspired, a series of tunes were crafted, labored and recorded. After a vocalist search, UNDER THE CHURCH settled on Australian vocalist MiK Annetts, to give voice to the primal compositions that had been conjured. The end result was ‘Demo 2013’; a three song affair that created a surge of interest in the band and their raw, filthy and ugly approach to the essence of Death Metal. Following their seven-track self-titled debut EP on Pulverised, UNDER THE CHURCH are primed and have released a firestorm of raw and bestial Death Metal called Rabid Armageddon.
The self-titled debut from Denmark Death Dealers APPARATUS is out now on Lavadome Productions. Stream the album in its entirety at this location or below:
Lavadome Productions has one again unearthed a rare gem in the form of a full-length monument of twisted and grotesque Death Metal Art. Channeling the power of the Ancients and spreading its nefarious message with wanton disregard for listener safety.
APPARATUS’ self-titled album is a staggering piece of grotesque art on which the band employs primordial weaponry in the invasion of multiple musical territories. The result is an original, dense, and thoroughly devastating journey into audio horror. The incredibly crushing dynamics of the songs and the flow of the album result in a mind-bending, soul-scarring experience. The deeper one ventures into APPARATUS’ macabre realm, the more harrowing and sadistically satisfying the experience. The abyss calls, the mortal world is poisoned, and barbarous energies unleashed; leaving permanent scars, both physical and mental. Abandon all hope ye who enter here.

Critical Praise:
“This is one of the best albums of the year.” – Glacially Musical
“Apparatus may come from Denmark but sound like they studied at the Australian school of demonic metal: dissonant, oppressive and weird.” – Evil Warnings
“Rooted in blackened death metal, capturing the darkness and brutality of the genre, while also mixing in ritualistic, avant-garde and experimental elements to create a style of their own.” – Blackened Death Metal Zine
European Death Metal warriors, SINISTER, have released their new studio album of cover songs, Dark Memorials, this past Summer via Massacre Records. Man, this offering of Death Metal from SINISTER is a dandy! In all Metal honesty, I already have Dark Memorials reserved for a spot in Metal Odyssey’s Top Ten Metal Albums Of 2015 list. Dark Memorials destroys! There are tons of Thrash(ness) on this album to satisfy fans of the old-school style, while the raging Death Metal is nothing short of stunning. Seriously, my Metal brethren!
The cover of the Carcass classic Exhume To Consume is breathtaking, even with some flashy keyboards making a brief appearance. Yes, keyboards. From Bolt Thrower to Autopsy, with Kreator and Death in-between, this is a cover song album to hunger for! SINISTER have given these Metal classics all the Metal respect they so importantly deserve. Hell, there’s no better way to give thanks and praise to such legends of Metal, as SINISTER has done on Dark Memorials.
Adrie Kloosterwaard on vocals is a Death Metal monster! Shit, what more can be said. The entire band gets my seal of Death Metal approval for their ear blistering performance on this Dark Memorials album. I have listened to Dark Memorials constantly since September and I’m never gonna stop recommending this album. Dark Memorials is one of the best cover song albums I’ve ever enjoyed in my Metal life! My favorite song on this album? All. Okay, it’s the cover of Autopsy’s Ridden With Disease. Metal be thy name. – Stone

NERVOCHAOS released The Art of Vengeance last year on Greyhaze Records. The band’s most varied and devastating release to date, The Art of Vengeance blends elements of traditional death, bone crushing doom, punk and thrash for results that are both destructive and addicting. The official music video for album track “For Passion Not Fashion” is now playing at this location or below:
Fed-up with the entire trend flooding the scene, NERVOCHAOS was formed in mid-1996, with the idea of creating an aggressive and chaotic music shredding the barriers of Death Metal and Hardcore. The band gained cult status in the extreme music scene due to their hard work over the past years, offering a sonic extravaganza in their unique way. Their demo-tapes have become collector’s items in the underground, supporting their regular releases.
The band is not afraid of touring or performing live. They did many tours around Europe, South America; and shared the stage with several acts such as VENOM, POSSESSED, CANNIBAL CORPSE, KREATOR, BIOHAZARD, AGNOSTIC FRONT, CARCASS, NAPALM DEATH, DISMEMBER, D.R.I., MAYHEM, THE EXPLOITED and many more to list.
After 18 years of churning out some of the most furious and vehement metal the South American underground has experienced, NERVOCHAOS is back with The Art of Vengeance; the band’s sixth studio album.
Critical Praise:
“Old school death metal and thrash from Brazil, where you’ll still get your ass kicked sideways for being a poseur.” – Decibel
“Brazilian Death Metal Kings” 10/10 – Metal-Temple
“Music that will make you dive into the pit and headbang until you drop” – Two Guys Metal Review
“A bounty of varied influences that blend into their sound, moving from the thrashy bits towards some Floridian influences to some mid-tempo grooviness and even a hint of doom on occasion.” – Dead Rhetoric
Death/Black Metal heathens Kult Mogił (translation: Sepulchral Cult) are the newest band to dwell in the sounds of the netherworld. Their potential has led to their recognition and signing of a record deal with Poland’s legendary Pagan Records.
The band was established in October 2014 in Tarnów, Poland. In April 2015 they released Demo 2015, which will soon be released on tape via Gravplass Propaganda. The band is currently recording their debut full-length album entitled Anxiety Never Descending, which will be released under the banner of Pagan Records. More information regarding the release to follow soon.
Kult Mogił are the latest band you need to watch out for. Their sounds will appeal to fans of bands like Bölzer, Cruciamentum, Necros Christos, Doombringer or Cultes Des Ghoules. Listen to Kult Mogił’s Demo 2015 via Bandcamp. Check them out online on their official website.
After a few months in his home studio in Armstrong, BC, Chris Shaver has produced the debut full-length VHOD album, ‘Dreamcleaver’. Chris mans the helm alone, performing all the instruments and vocals and this album showcases snippets of unused material spanning many years as well as brand new material. The release is a fair representation of VHOD’s Experimental Death Metal angle and will cement a milestone for Chris in his quarter-of-a-century musical journey thus far.
VHOD was conceived in January 2014 and is a merger of Godcursed (2004-2014), Morbid Darkness (1989-2014) and Worms Of The Birth (2011-2014), which were all active projects of sole member Chris Shaver at the time. Early VHOD releases exhibited sporadic styles and were mostly instrumental pieces used as a basis for finding a more focussed signature sound. Said releases consist of 3 singles, ‘The Scornful Winter’, ‘One Fallen’ & ‘Cimmeria’ and an EP, ‘Dreams Of 11.14′, respectively, all released independently.
In December of 2014, work began on the ‘Tor’ Series, which consists of 4 parts: ‘Behind The Shroud Of Mist’, ‘Wrap Three Times’, ‘Portal’ and ‘The Desolates’, respectively. In these independent releases an evident foundation was made with which future VHOD recordings will branch out from. Dreamcleaver is set for release November 13th 2015 on Finnish label INVERSE RECORDS.
Unspeakable Axe Records has released a two-song split CD from CIST and SOLSTICE. Check out the promo trailer at this location or below. Pre-orders are being taken here.
Relative newcomers, CIST hail from Russia, and their Death/Pestilence-influenced style of Death Metal makes a natural pairing with underground legends SOLSTICE, whose early albums are classics of Death/Thrash metal. This is just a 2-song split to serve as an appetizer for things to come from both bands, and it’s priced accordingly at a measly $5!
2 Song Track List:
1. Synthetic Life [Cist]
2. Eyes Sewn Shut [Solstice]
Having laid low since the end of 2014, Northern Irish Death Metallers Rex Shachath have suddenly announced their return and are back for blood with a brand new record which will be out November 20th via Great Dane Records.
Entitled Revocation Of The Blood Elect, this new EP might not be what people are expecting if they’re familiar with the band’s debut offering Sepulchral Torment. Since that release, the band have had time to coalesce and where Sepulchral Torment had more of a ‘old school’ sound, Revocation Of The Blood Elect is an entirely new animal. Tackling social issues such as the state of modern society and man’s exorbitant desire for wealth at the expense of our natural world, the band have harnessed a sound more befitting to such issues on their forthcoming record.
Old school ideals kneaded with modern Death Metal notions on a much more up to date and punchier production is what we have here. Revocation Of The Blood Elect carries a sound as big, if not bigger, than its message.
Vocalist and lyricist Dave Connolly sums the record up with a quote from French philosopher Denis Diderot, “Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.”
Artwork (as seen above), was completed by UK artist Godmachine famed for his work with bands such as Suicide Silence, Bring Me The Horizon, Cannibal Corpse and Job For A Cowboy to name a few. The EP was recorded, mixed and mastered by Joe Thompson at Sonic Forge Studio, Cardiff, Wales.
Track Listing:
1. Atonement Through Atrocity
2. Impious Axiom
3. Revocation Of The Blood Elect
4. Within The Temple Of Disgust (Featuring Ben McCrow)
5. Colossus Rise
Through the verbose horror of their first two LPs (2011’s Carnal Law and 2013’s Patricidal Lust) San Francisco’s VASTUM sadistically carved a jagged dripping wound into an increasingly reductive American Death Metal scene. One of the most lyrically unique, creative and disturbing bands in underground Metal, now arising for their third full length album, VASTUM plumbs the depths of internalized agony and degradation farther than ever on Hole Below.
Characterized by a deeply cavernous trudge through gut churning heaviness, Hole Below both bluntly crushes and rigorously shreds to conceive fully formed grotesqueries of debased brutality. Guitarist Leila Abdul-Rauf wields her axe with the experienced slice of a masked executioner, quartering savage riffs and twisting leads alongside the thunder of guitarist Shelby Lermo. The abhorrent vocal (and lyrical) morbidity traded by imposing frontman Daniel Butler and Abdul-Rauf continues to be the most formidable combination in Death Metal. The intimidating rhythm section of bassist Luca Indrio and drummer Adam Perry steer the war machine through the pooled blood and skull fragments scattered amidst the debauched iniquity of this peculiar hell.
Three albums in, VASTUM has honed their disturbed masochism into a sound manifestly their own and true to the core of the purest darkest Death Metal. Crushingly recordead at Earhammer Studios in Oakland and mastered at Audiosiege by Brad Boatright, the art for Hole Below was created by vocalist Daniel Butler. 20 Buck Spin (also responsible for the release of the band’s prior two albums) presents Hole Below as one of the finest and best executed examples of the genre this year.
Hole Below will emerge on CD and digital formats on November 6th, with the LP to follow in December. Fans of Bolt Thrower, Grave, Death, Asphyx, Shroud Of The Heretic, Cruciamentum and the like are hereby on notice.
VASTUM will strike with new tour dates in support of Hole Below, including the band’s debut East Coast performances which are being slabbed for early November. Stand by for tour specifics in the coming days.

1. Sodomitic Malevolence
2. Amniosis
3. In Sickness And In Death

New EP Total Lack of Communicationis out now and can be purchased at this location. The band has released the Official Music Video for the title track, which can be viewed below or here.
Death/Thrash Metal with groovy rhythms and a dash of Grind, the self-released EP follows 2014 sophomore album Rottendam (Eternal Sound Records). Total Lack of Communication is designed to keep the fires burning and blood flowing while the band works on new material for a new full-length album.
Total Lack of Communication Meant to be Broken Unhuman
Re-Armed have been around since 2001, when five guys from Kerava, Finland decided to start playing similar music likened to so-called “Gothenburg metal.” Their musical style has evolved along with many critically acclaimed demo tapes, gigs, lineup changes and a well-received debut album Worldwide Hypnotize, which was released internationally on January 2012 via Massacre Records. After releasing their debut, the band supported names such as Chimaira, Suffocation, Origin, Cattle Decapitation and Cryptopsy for the tours in Europe. In this year Re-Armed also made their first big outdoor festival appearance at Bloodstock Open Air at Catton Hall in the UK.
The second album Rottendam was released on January 2014 via Eternal Sound Records, but major lineup changes froze the band almost for a year. Former guitarist/songwriter Tommi Helkalahti decided to leave the band, leaving vocalist Jouni Matilainen as the only current former member in the band.
Five years removed from their acclaimed debut album, the maniacs of Grave Ritual have re-emerged from the crypt with Morbid Throne. The band’s newest burnt offering delivers nine tracks of blasphemous, old-school Death Metal in the vein of Incantation, Death and Autopsy. Dark Descent Records will release Morbid Throne October 30 on CD, LP and digital formats. Cover art for the album was done by Daniel Desecrator.
Formed from the ashes of Alabama bred duo Meathole Infection in 2009, Grave Ritual’s sole purpose is to create dark and primitive Death Metal. The band’s self-titled demo was released in 2009. A year later, Dark Descent Records released Grave Ritual’s first full-length album, Euphoric Hymns from the Altar of Death. Since the release of their debut album, Grave Ritual has focused on perfecting their devastating live assaults, sharing the stage with such bands as Proclamation, Revenge, Black Witchery, and Inquisition. They have played Rites of Darkness II and III, as well as several appearances at Destroying Texas Fest. The band is now stationed in New Orleans. Grave Ritual’s highly anticipated second full-length album, Morbid Throne, is set for release in late 2015 on Dark Descent records.
Morbid Throne – Track Listing:
1. Baleful Aversion
2. Autonomous Death
3. Adversary Crown
4. Invoker of Heathen Gnosis
5. Tyrant’s Hammer
6. Masters and Slaves
7. Lewd Perversities
8. Behind the Reigns of Gods

French Death Metallers Antropofago have just released a brand new digital single for Helter Skelter, taken from the band’s latest full-length Æra Dementiæ. The single includes a bonus cover version of Sepultura’s classic Arise, which has been part of the Antropofago’s live set for quite some time now.
“Helter Skelter” is available for FREE download at the link below:
Four years after their debut full-length, Beyond Phobia, Antropofago further explore the depths of human psychosis with Æra Dementiæ, a dementia-based concept album that continues the chilling look into phobia that was its predecessor. The album sees Antropofago reach new levels of technical prowess, production and artistic maturity.
Still as diverse in its approach of technical Death Metal, the new material is marked with well-placed doses of brutality and addictive choruses to make Æra Dementiæ the breakthrough album for Antropofago! Featuring a special guest solo by Nicolas Alberny (Gorod) and guest vocals by label-mates Laurent Chambe (Nephren-Ka), Aara (ex-Savage Annihilation), Benoit Jean (ex-Insain) and other surprise contributors, the album is full of hidden little gems and the over-the-top musicianship.
With the first pressing limited to 500 copies, Kaotoxin Records released the album on August 14th as a deluxe DigiSleeve double CD featuring an expanded version of the band’s 2012 Between Fear and Madness EP. Further physical and digital editions will be released on the same day as two separate releases, with Æra Dementiæ and Between Fear and Madness [Redux] sold individually.
Bay Area Tech Death/Thrash Metallers INSANITY are set to release their first full-length album since 1994. Visions of Apocalypse will be released on CD November 13th, on Unspeakable Axe Records. A vinyl LP version on Dark Descent Records is also in the works, tentatively set for a late year release.
Innovators of the blast beat and influencers of the likes of genre godfathers Napalm Death, INSANITY have survived repeated tragedies and setbacks since forming in the mid-80s. The Bay Area Metal masters should need no introduction, only somehow after 30 years they are still one of the most unsung bands in the underground. In 2015 they are finally returning to sand-blast the ears of loyalists and unbelievers alike.
The long-in-the-works album Visions of Apocalypse was begun years ago, with original drummer Bud Mills involved, until his untimely passing from cancer in 2007. Through this loss and subsequent lineup changes, the band persevered, led by original guitarist and longtime vocalist Dave Gorsuch, with Juan Casarez stepping behind the kit. In mid-2015, the final tracks were laid down and at last the album was completed.
1. Sacrefixion
2. When
3. Sociopath
4. Mortification
5. Disillusioned
6. Dread the Dawn
7. Tired
8. Blind
9. Visions of Apocalypse

If you seek salvation, you’ll not find it here. Only everlasting damnation awaits. The EP also includes a blistering Internal Suffering cover track. Prepare for an afterlife of scorching misery as you burn upon the Visceral Throne!
Comatose Music will release Those Who Have Fallen Beyond the Grace of God on October 30. For a sampling of Visceral Throne’s devastating brand of brutal death, check out the promo video for “The True Sin” at this location or below:

The legendary German band PROFANITY, going on since 1993, have braved many trends and style-drifts and have remained more or less true to their art but have also updated their sound to remain relevant – that’s the way it should be. Evolve or die. Originally sounding comparable to say Barnes-era CANNIBAL CORPSE or the powerful style of death metal propagated by the German overlords OBSCENITY in the ’90s, PROFANITY have since wonderfully evolved, turning more technical, flashy and coining their own style.
Every song on this EP is raging with intensity, booming with power but there’s an element of surprise where the band just takes off into a different uncharted territory and having your jaw drop to the floor. Their latest EP ‘Hatred Hell Within’ can be called old school death metal, technical death metal, brutal death metal, whichever sub-style you prefer, and you’ll still be right. PROFANITY are taking a serious effort to get noticed and are refusing to be outmoded.
They’re bringing their inherent old school might with them and knocking over the weak-sounding gimmick-ridden bands of today out of contention. A band with so many tricks under their sleeve deserve to be heard and all this while remaining true to their roots. Immensely powerful, chock-a-block with colorful variations, and still remaining more brutal and active than your local band, PROFANITY are here to stay. And conquer.
