UK Sludge Metal band VICTORIAN WHORE DOGS are pleased to announce that they have finished work on their debut full-length Afternoonified. The band have previously released two EPs to vast critical acclaim in their native UK and will release the new album on April 1st 2016. They will also embark on a tour of the UK the same week. Confirmed tour dates are below, more information and dates will be released in the next few weeks.

Frontman Danny Page commented on the album: “Afternoonified is a sludge-doom cacophony of debauched madness and sexual expression. It is not so much art, but a rejection of self, a journey into the confines of our own repressive nature to come full circle and truly understand that life itself is a rose-tinted cumstain left on the sidewalk. We are exploring ourselves, within ourselves, outside ourselves, on our shelves. It’s fuzzy, doomy, riffy, and angry.”

He further stated about the upcoming tour: “To coincide with this musical expression, we shall be embarking on several long weekend tours throughout the United Kingdom over April, three with Morass Of Molasses, and one with our friends Greenhorn and Tides Of Sulfur. It will be a circus without the tent, a gynecological examination with no glove. This is real, heavy, filthy, sludgy, real.

Band Bio:

Victorian Whore Dogs are a Sludge/Post-Hardcore band from Guildford, combining the influences of bands such as Will Haven, Neurosis, Vision Of Disorder and Iron Monkey to make a disgusting Sludge fest of pounding riffs, slow tempos and abrasive vocals.

The four piece’s unique brand of psychotic sludge has earned them a stature in the British doom underground with their uncompromising heaviness laced with abnormal humour and debauched stage show.

VWD have been gigging relentlessly throughout the United Kingdom including a North UK tour with Lord Misery and Burden of the Noose as well as playing with the likes of Conan, Ortega and We are Knuckle Dragger, broadcasting their brand of “Sexy Hobo Tramp core” to anyone willing (or unwilling) to hear it.

More recently VWD succeeded in winning the Reading Bloodstock Metal 2 the Masses 2015, earning them a performance slot at Bloodstock festival 2015 playing the New Blood Stage.

AMON AMARTH Announces North American Headlining Tour With Entombed A.D. And Exmortus + Los Angeles And New York City Appearances By Johan Hegg

Amon Amarth - Entombed AD - Exmortus - April - May - 2016 - Tour Promo Flyer - 2016 - #MOILMFD3399

Swedish Metal kings, AMON AMARTH, today confirm the details of their North American headlining tour this Spring. Set to run from April 7th through May 21st, the lengthy trek will find the band joined by fellow Swedes Entombed A.D and young USA Metal upstarts Exmortus! Presale tickets are available now at AmonAmarth.com. Tickets go on sale on Friday, January 29th at 10AM local time at AmonAmarth.com.

The tour will follow the release of AMON AMARTH‘s tenth studio album, Jomsviking, set for unveiling in North America via Metal Blade Records on March 25th. Jomsviking – the band’s first concept record in their storied career – tells a tragic tale of love and revenge, backed by the Swedes’ trademark melodic, anthemic Metal, which was produced and mixed once again by Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Testament, Accept) and also features special guest session drummer Tobias Gustafsson (Vomitory). The epic original story is set in the world of the Jomsvikings, the legendary order of mercenary Vikings.

By far their most ambitious project to date, Jomsviking is available for preorder in various formats now at AmonAmarth.com where fans can also view the video for the album’s first single, First Kill. Produced by Grupa 13 and directed by Darek Szermanowicz (Behemoth), First Kill was filmed in Gohrweide, Germany and Warsaw, Poland and features a cinematic depiction of the violent, brutal lyrics, along with powerful live footage of the band performing with their full dragon head and pyro stage-set.

Johan Hegg will be spinning First Kill and his own playlist at two public appearances in New York City and Los Angeles: the NYC event will be held at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn on February 2nd at 9:00PM, while the LA event will be held at Grill ‘Em All in Alhambra on February 9th at 5:00PM.

About:

Conceived within the womb of Execration, Helleborus is the latest emanation of Jerred & Wyatt Houseman. Like the enigmatic and deadly winter flower from which the project takes its name, Helleborus pushes the exploration of traditional black metal into the uncharted territory of sensual duality and mysticism. Building on their professional experience with Execration and personal experiences through Akhenaten, the Houseman brothers sought a deeper expression of their experiential-driven musical style that audiences can connect with through a union of opposites.

“We’ve always had a vision for the type of Black Metal project Helleborus would be. We wanted to explore and deliver a darker and yet more romantic side of Black Metal. There is an unknown side of Metal that is masculine and powerful, yet sensual and respectful; controlled chaos.” Comments vocalist Wyatt Houseman.

Album Band Line Up features: Wyatt (vocals, lyrics) & Jerred Houseman (producer, all instruments)

Live Band Line Up features: Brent Boutte’ – Drums, Jerred Houseman – Guitar & leads, Wyatt Houseman – Voice, Ian Horenman – guitar & rhythms, Michael Hylands – Bass

FEAR OF DOMINATION – Unleashes A New Wicked Album

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, news, rock music with tags , , , , on January 21, 2016 by Metal Odyssey

FEAR OF DOMINATION - Atlas - promo album cover pic - 2016 - #MO33ILMFDSP8CIL

The fourth studio album of Fear of Domination is titled Atlas and it will be released on March 11. It is the darkest and heaviest masterpiece FoD has ever done.

The Finnish shock Industrial Metal band Fear of Domination will give a totally new definition to “spring break” by unleashing its fourth studio album Atlas,on March 11. The vocalist and the lyricist of the band Saku Solin describes Atlas as the darkest and the heaviest album the band has ever done.

Solin describes, that Atlas is about the moment, when all the light in the world has faded, and a human being is left to wander with his crushing burden.

“The question is, is the burden self-created, imagined or concrete. We’ve all had a bit of an emotion-filled year. I think we have efficiently packed primitive rage, desperation and misery here. It wasn’t a conscious decision. This is how we felt, and fuck, we did what had to be done.”

The string instruments are crunching lower than before and the composer and keyboardist of the band Lasse Raelahti has created a harmony of chaos and beauty with his synthesizer. Fans were given the first taste of blood, when the band released the music video single El Toro in the autumn.

The lyrics of the album are also more straight and brutal than before. The vocal producer Helena Haaparanta whipped everything out of the singer. Solin reveals from the album, that the rasp and growl vocals can change quickly to “freakishly annoyingly poppish” singing.

“We have always loved to create some contrast. Even though the lyrics are about the collapse of the mind and the world, suddenly there can be an opera-kind-of part or then it could be from E-Types disco song.”

The drums and the basses were recorded in D-studio, the guitars in the apartment of the lead guitarist and composer Johannes Niemi and the vocals in another studio in city of Kerava. The producers Alex Azzali and Nicholas Barker mixed and mastered the album in Italy. The cover art is created by Timo Kokko.

Fear of Domination is ready for the live-shows of the spring and is more insane than ever. The band is famous for their theatrical and half-crazy shows filled with energy. The year 2016 started with sold out MeriRock in January and will continue with three-day tour of MetalOrgy.

”We are looking forward to the gigs! We are able to use some new ideas and of course, to play the new songs. There are a couple of new ones, that I am sure will rock the hell out of the crowd”, Solin smiles.

Fear of Domination was found in 2006. The third album Distorted Delusions was published in 2014.

BURY TOMORROW AT HMV

WHEN & WHERE?

Friday, January 29 – 6pm – hmv 363 Oxford Street, London – Tickets available at hmv.com/hmvlive/bury-tomorrow

One of the UK’s premier purveyors of Metalcore, Bury Tomorrow visit hmv to perform live and sign copies of their new album ‘Earthbound’.

Bury Tomorrow release their eagerly anticipated new album ‘Earthbound’, the follow up to 2014’s UK rock chart number 1 record ‘Runes’. Frontman Dani Winter-Bates says of ‘Earthbound’, “To me, it feels like the distillation of everything we’ve ever wanted this band to be about. We wanted pace, we wanted heaviness, and for me, personally, I wanted to write a record which was the sonic embodiment of a circle pit. I think we’ve done that.” But while fans of the heavy stuff will find plenty to grasp onto here, it’s the now trademark interplay between Dani and guitarist/singer Jason Cameron which sets ‘Earthbound’ apart. “We’ve always wanted to be like one vocalist in two parts and I think we’ve achieved that here.” Says Dani.

Bury Tomorrow’s ethos has always been a threefold focus on unswerving passion, unrelenting hard work and remorselessly driving, slash ‘n’ burn riffola. They’ve come far from small to 1,000+ capacity venues, but their values remain the same. Dani explains: “To me nothing has changed. I still want to meet every kid who is there, get a picture if they want one and sign something if they want it signed. That’s just the kind of people we are – that’s just the kind of band we are.”

On behalf of Swedish Grindcore stalwarts GADGET, Relapse Records is excited to announce that The Great Destroyer, the band’s first full-length in a decade, will see worldwide release this March 4th, 2016.

With the announcement, Noisey has premiered two new tracks from the album; stream “Violent Hours (For A Veiled Awakening)” and the title track “The Great Destroyer” now at THIS LOCATION.

Gadget - The Great Destroyer - promo album banner - 2016 - #MOILMFD33099

Though the band has largely flown under the radar in the general metal consciousness, Gavle, Sweden’s GADGET has roots that trace back to 1997. The band has always included influences from every other extreme genre that they’ve been fond of, like doom, sludge, hardcore punk, death metal, black metal and more, never letting genre boundaries stand in the way of their path of destruction. At the time of the band’s formation, GADGET existed as the grinding alter-ego of a Metalcore band whose members, including founder William Blackmon, simply switched instruments. Rikard Olsson and William teamed up in the winter of 1999/2000, and wrote the first GADGET demo as a duo.

GADGET then joined forces with Emil Englund to record a second demo, which was strong enough to grab the attention of Relapse Records, who signed the band for the release of their debut full-length Remote (2004), now featuring Fredrik NygrenRemote was extensively well-received, as was its 2006 follow-up The Funeral March. After touring Europe twice and performing at dozens of festivals worldwide, including at Maryland Deathfest and Auditory Assault in the US, GADGET has proven itself to be a relentless Grindcore force live as well as on record.

Gadget - The Great Destroyer - promo album cover pic - 2016 - #MOILMFD933999

Album cover artwork by Randy Ortiz.

A blistering high-speed assault of relentless grind, GADGET’s new album The Great Destroyer is a cohesive exercise in extremity that blends hints of Doom, Sludge and Death Metal with unadulterated, old-school Grindcore. The result is an album that is as memorable and infectious as it is pummeling and explosive. With The Great DestroyerGADGET has released their most accomplished material to date!

The Great Destroyer will see release on CD, LP and Digital formats. Physical preorders are available now via Relapse HERE; digital pre-orders can be found at GADGET‘s Bandcamp page HERE.

Lemmy Kilmister Of Motörhead – Rest In Peace, Our Metal Icon

Posted in classic rock, Metal with tags , , , , on December 28, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Lemmy Kilmister - publicity - cooking promo

As reported on the Official Motörhead Facebook:

There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.

We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.

We will say more in the coming days, but for now, please…play Motörhead loud, play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.
Have a drink or few.

Share stories.

Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.

HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT.

Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister

1945 -2015

Born to lose, lived to win.

Please feel free to post your condolences, well wishes and memories here:

Stone Says: Tremendously sad news. Goodbye, Lemmy. Thank you for the Rock ‘N Roll. I will forever spread the word of Motörhead. The Metal and Rock ‘N Roll world will truly never be the same without Lemmy.

Motorhead - The Best Of - promo album cover pic - #MO33MDFNLSSMS3939

I’ll never forget seeing Motörhead for the first time live, it was one of my most magical Metal moments I’ve experienced, back in the mid 80’s. I saw concert fans tussle and struggle to take ownership of Lemmy’s cigarette butt; one in which he flicked into the crowd. I watched Lemmy play bass and sing Killed By Death, Jailbait and Ace Of Spades, only 20 or so feet away from me, in an overcrowded West Hartford Ballroom, in West Hartford, Connecticut. Slayer later headlined. With a couple of minor bruises, I stunk of cigarette smoke, sweat and beer after leaving that show. It doesn’t get any better than that.

About:

Power Thrash champions SANKTUARY hail from the harsh and blisteringly cold of the deep far North of Canada’s Yukon Territory, situating themselves in the city of Whitehorse (pretty far north, like the Siberia of Canada eh!). They have been trekking across the country for the past 6 years to bring their fierce and dynamic high-speed riffs, catchy hooks and belted out lyrics to the Metal crowds.

A collective vision that began in high school with a group of like-minded teens fed up with the constraints of mainstream music who wanted to emulate the lifestyles of their favourite bands. Their straight-forward, no-bullshit attitudes shape their signature brand of Heavy Metal, which has led them to release the full length, 2013’s ‘Something Fierce’ that reached #19 on the national college radio loud charts, 2011’s ‘Tundrastruck’ split with Nova Scotia’s Black Moor and Montreal’s Metallian, plus two EPs – 2010’s ‘Black Magic’ and 2009’s self-titled.

Members of the band write harmoniously, basing each song off of a key riff from either Alan Binger (vocals and guitar), Glen Emond (guitar), or Cole Hume (bass) and then Anders Grasholm (drums) works his magic on the rhythm of each tune.

2016 see the band’s return with their sophomore album ‘Winter’s Doom’ set for release on January 22nd, 2016. The album features seven killer high-speed, breakneck Thrash Metal tracks inspired by the Yukon’s far North they call home, along with other issues such as politics, technology, etc..

“In the title track and album cover we portray ourselves as Heavy Metal warriors thriving in a habitat where most would perish instantaneously. That’s our homeland, the Yukon.” comments the band.

Stay tuned for what Sanktuary has to offer for fans! Visit their Facebook page for more details at: www.facebook.com/sanktuarymetal.

Cradle Of Filth - Hammer Of The Witches - promo album cover pic - 2015 - #0607COFDFMO

CRADLE OF FILTH‘s latest album, Hammer Of The Witches, was brought to fruition in Britain’s Witch County, in darkest rural Suffolk at the reputedly haunted Grindstone Studios. The album’s title is named after the “Malleus Maleficarum,” a medieval document of guidelines regarding the persecution and torture of witches – only CRADLE OF FILTH‘s title version is more retributory: It’s the Hammer Of The Witches; the hammer is in the witches’ hands and it’s payback time.

CRADLE OF FILTH have cast a commanding and macabre shadow across the metal scene for nearly a quarter of a century. Armed with their trademark, cross-pollinated assault that taps into myriad strands of sonic extremity and morbid opulence, they have steadily conquered the entire world, unleashing a malevolent slew of classic albums along the way. From the raw and rambunctious savagery of their 1994 debut The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh to the wickedly monstrous, technicolor bombast of 2012’s The Manticore & Other Horrors, the CRADLE ethos and aesthetic have had a huge impact on the evolution of Metal, the band’s insatiable appetite for performing live and frontman Dani Filth‘s unerring charisma and sense of occasion ensuring that they have established a powerful and enduring connection with Hell-bound acolytes everywhere.

VENOM INC. features original Venom members guitarist Jeff “Mantas” Dunn and drummer Anthony “Abaddon” Bray with former Venom bassist/vocalist Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan. Necrophagia will be touring in support of their latest full-length WhiteWorm Cathedral out now via Season Of Mist. Formed in 1983, Necrophagia was one of the very first Death Metal bands in the United States. Often considered pioneers in the “Horror Metal” genre, the band gained notoriety after cutting their teeth in the underground by staging ambitious live shows, chock full of blood, guts and gore.

Necrophagia went on to receive world-wide acclaim for 1998’s genre-defining Holocausto de la Morte full-length featuring Pantera frontman Philip H. Anselmo. Following this landmark album, the band went on to release several well-received full lengths and EPs, most of them still available at the Season of Mist shop.
