URSAWRATH was founded by vocalist and bassist Adam Schaefer in September 2023 after relocating to Seattle to pursue music and form a new band. To recruit members, Schaefer recorded a four-song demo featuring early versions of “Thawed by Hell’s Flames,” “In the Abyss,” “Echo Chamber,” and “Sentenced to Life.” Shortly after, guitarists DJ and Lucas Robertson joined the fold, and the trio began rehearsing and refining material. Drummer Maximilian Onsager completed the lineup in spring 2024.
With the full band in place, URSAWRATH began writing new material and reworking the demo tracks, adding guitar solos, updated arrangements, and new drum parts. They started performing live around Seattle in May 2024 to establish themselves in the local scene.
By October, the band entered the studio to self-record their debut album Emergence, which features reimagined versions of the original demo songs alongside new tracks written collaboratively. With Emergence complete, URSAWRATH returned to the stage, continuing to build momentum as one of the most exciting new voices in progressive thrash.
The Brazilian extreme progressive metal group ABSTRACTED – whose sound blends blistering technicality with melodic and atmospheric moments – usher in their comeback with a slamming new single for “Languish,” the first taste of the band’s next album.
“We are very excited to present new music with our single ‘Languish.’ This song is a chaotic trip that catches up with everything Abstracted has been doing so far, with a modern twist. Sharp riffs, and plenty of odd time signatures for all the Prog lovers out there, and last, but not least, the guest vocals of one of the most powerful voices in Modern Metal – Chaney Crabb from Entheos. Our new phase is about to begin, and we will drop tons of crazy stuff for you in the upcoming months. Stay tuned!“
“Languish” is the first sample of the group’s next album, Hiraeth, coming early 2026 on M-Theory Audio. It will be almost 4 years since their last release, the band’s album Atma Conflux.
Since the band’s core trio – vocalist Rosano Pedro Matiusi, bassist Riverton Alves and keyboardist Carol Lynn – have been joined by 3 new members – guitarists Leonardo Brito and José Consani along with drummer Fernando Pollon. The revamped lineup have been writing during the downtime and drawing in influences old and new to create something pleasurable and challenging
“Hiraeth is ABSTRACTED’s third release. After Atma Conflux we faced lots of lineup changes and that evidently reflected in our way of making music. Hiraeth, in some ways, is more grounded, musical and nuanced,” continues singer Rosano. “Atmosphere is the thing we pursued the most on this record. We are very proud of what we built, keeping the fast paced music, but reinventing what we are already known for.”
ABSTRACTED is a six-piece Extreme Progressive Metal band from Brazil that draws influences from the most prominent modern metal acts like Opeth, Vildhjarta and Between the Buried and Me. Their music goes from total utter chaos to jazz fusion influenced passages. On their upcoming release Hiraeth ABSTRACTED draw strength from the past and project their 11 year experience into a blend of feelings, heaviness and complexity. Watch for pre-orders soon.

The album news arrived alongside the release of “Things We Tell Ourselves In The Dark” and its accompanying video, which explores the 3D-modeled hotel that is The Blue Nowhere.
Discussing the direction of The Blue Nowhere, vocalist Tommy Rogers explains: “It’s more of a feeling, those moments when you feel alone in the world and you’re reflecting, and in that process you’re finding out new things about yourself and your place in the world. Existing in a space where nobody can find you, as you’re hidden from all forms of reality. That’s The Blue Nowhere.”

It felt like the culmination of not just TesseracT’s ambition, but also Radar Festival’s vision. Drawing from not only War Of Being, but also our entire back catalogue, we had such a great time exploring and expanding upon these songs, aided by the phenomenal Choir Noir. Their involvement allowed us to bring an extra dimension to the show unlike anything we have ever experienced before.
To then have our longtime collaborator Richard Oakes from Dark Fable Media there to film and produce the resulting movie was perfect.
So we are once again privileged to bring this film to a cinema for the North American premiere, for our friends in the US to enjoy along with us. Radar is a step up for TesseracT, and a small hint at the journey that lies before us.”

Montreal/Stockholm Progressive Metal Quartet, Voidchaser, have releasd their new EP Trust! Serving as an epilogue to critically acclaimed 2024 release Solace, the new EP completes the narrative and brings closure to the conceptual journey begun with their debut album.
Coinciding with the EP’s release, the band has also released a music video for opening track, “Time,” featuring Québec City’s Universe Effects (Gabriel Antoine Vallée, Francis Grégoire, and Gabriel Cyr). “Time” embarks on a reflective journey through loss and the fleeting nature of life. Emotionally charged and deeply introspective, the song continues the narrative arc that concluded Solace, resonating with the raw emotion of abandonment.
Following the impact of “Trust” (featuring Jim Grey of Caligula’s Horse) and the epic “Dogma” (with a guest appearance by The Anchoret), “Time” weaves a heartfelt exploration of impermanence and memory, brought to life through poignant lyrics and evocative melodies. This final chapter not only completes the EP’s narrative journey, but also reinforces Voidchaser‘s reputation for merging profound emotional storytelling with dynamic musical composition.
Trust solidifies Voidchaser’sreputation for heavy yet emotionally resonant progressive metal. The band is also gearing up for an international tour in 2025, with more details to be announced soon.
Line-Up:
Chad Bernatchez – Vocals, Back Vocals, Rhythm Guitar Jici LG – Bass Jimmy Montbriand – Lead Guitar Colin MacAndrew – Drums Mathieu Fiset – Keyboards
“Trust picks up directly after the events of Solace. Our protagonist is drifting across the vast emptiness of space, as the reserve oxygen tanks from the suit keeps him alive and scenes from his life pass them by. The first song, Time, depicts our protagonist having to say goodbye to someone who he was very close to. The second song, Dogma, depicts our protagonist having to make an impossible decision, resulting in leaving behind someone else he was very close to. Finally, the title track depicts our protagonist unapologetically committing his entire life to someone only to have his trust broken and their sense of self be lost in the process.
We collaborated with musicians from all around the world on this EP and it’s very cool to have had the opportunity to do that. We have a lot of love for the musicians that accepted to be on it and feel incredibly honored that we made something they wanted to be a part of.
This EP is very special to us because it marks the end of a chapter for Voidchaser. We are very proud of how far we have come since the band has started, and there is nothing we would have done differently. Everything has led to where we are today and we have learned a lot from the past two years and we are very grateful for everything that happened and everyone who was with us along the way.”
FFO: Devin Townsend, Haken, Dream Theater, Between the Buried and Me, Opeth, Caligula’s Horse.

Mastord is a Finnish progressively rocking project that has released two albums Trail Of Consequence (2019) and To Whom Bow Even The Trees (2021). Third album, Lemmon Lintu, is released today on February 14, 2025, exactly six years after the debut album.
A lot has changed since the last release. The singing language has changed from English to Finnish, the soundscape has become lighter and new people have brought their strong expertise to the music.
Guitarist and songwriterKari Syveläbackgrounds the new album: “When all is lost and life slowly dwindles away, a journey begins from which there is no return. “Raven” takes the listener to the depths of the soul, where loneliness, the longing for abandonment are the only companions and comfort. In this story, man steps into the enchanting shadow of the black bird and walks towards the edge of death, but not only towards the end, but towards a new way of being.
The journey is not just about letting go, it is also a journey of self-discovery – no longer in the human, but in a much larger and freer sense. Going ever deeper, grief and despair turn into understanding, and finally, somewhere in the darkest night, death is no longer an end but a transformation.
Lemmon Lintu is not only an album about death, but also about life after death. In this story, a man who has lost himself finds a new life – no longer as a man, but as a raven, doing his work as an altruistic, humble and most respectful escort to the afterlife. In the end, the raven’s song is no longer just a call to death, but the soothing sound of life and death merging together, telling us that even when we lose everything, we can still find something in ourselves that will never die.”
Markku Pihlaja – vocals and lyrics Jenni Roslakka – backing vocals Jarmo Pikka – drums Antti Huopainen – pianos, electric pianos and Hammonds Pasi Hakuli – bass frequencies Kari Syvelä – guitars and synthesizers
Montréal (CA) – Prepare for ProgStorm, Canada’s first progressive metal festival! Into Eternity, one of the most respected names in progressive metal, will headline the inaugural ProgStorm Festival in Montréal on August 9, 2025. This marks the band’s highly anticipated return to the city, where they haven’t performed in several years. Fans will be able to experience their unique fusion of progressive, death, and power metal, as Into Eternity closes the first day of this one-of-a-kind event at Le Ministère.
Into Eternity has a rich history with Montréal, having shared the stage with some of the biggest names in metal at the Bell Centre. In 2006, they performed during Gigantour alongside Megadeth, Opeth, Lamb of God, and Arch Enemy, leaving an unforgettable mark on the Montréal metal scene. They returned in 2007 to perform again at the Bell Centre with Dream Theater and Redemption, further solidifying their place in the legacy of progressive metal.
Now, their long-awaited return to Montréal for ProgStorm Festival is set to captivate fans in a more intimate setting, making this a truly special moment for the band and their loyal followers. Stu Block, the band’s lead vocalist, also known for his work with Iced Earth, adds to the excitement, making this performance a must-see for fans of both progressive and traditional metal. A few words from founding member and lead guitarist, Tim Roth:
“Into Eternity is pleased to announce we are finally coming back to the great Heavy Metal city of Montreal! We will be headlining the ProgStorm Festival in August 2025. It is going to be incredible to finally come back to the Heavy Metal Capital of Canada Montreal Quebec! Rehearsals will be starting shortly and we are planning a great new Into Eternity setlist. We have fond memories of playing the Bell Centre in Montreal on our Tour with Megadeth and then again when we toured with Dream Theater. Montreal has always been a favourite city of ours to play from clubs to arenas. Thanks to the ProgStorm Festival team for inviting us to perform. Hopefully we will see some of our old friends at the show. See you all this August!”
The ProgStorm Festival, presented by The Progspace and organized by Metal Shed Productions and collaborators, will be Canada’s first-ever festival dedicated entirely to the progressive metal genre. Scheduled for August 9th and 10th, 2025, this festival is set to showcase a diverse range of progressive metal sub-genres, from the classic sounds to the most experimental and extreme.
Stay tuned for more updates as the full lineup for ProgStorm Festival is being unveiled!

With their third single release, SACROSANCT convince with another captivating hymn, full of melancholy and beautiful emotions. Join the ride end enjoy this growing anthem, now streaming on all digital services at:
SACROSANCT, established in 1988, are a well respected name in the metal scene, most known for their three classic albums during the early 1990s: Truth is – what is, Recesses for the depraved and Tragic intense. The band’s signature sound gradually progressed from sophisticated thrash metal to a more edgy, melodic and atmospheric aural landscape.
SACROSANCT: Max Morton – Vocals, Bass Randy Meinhard – Guitar Gerrit Knol – Guitar Jonas Schütz – Drums
The brainchild of founding member and lead guitar player Randy Meinhard (ex-Pestilence) returned in 2018, after a 25-year hiatus, with their fourth album “Necropolis”, which was highly acclaimed and bears all of the hallmarks and intricacies that defines SACROSANCT, with a strong emphasis on melancholic melodies and harmony guitar parts, as well as a focus on thought-provoking lyrics.
Six years later, SACROSANCT return with the even more powerful, still complex and catchy Kidron introducing their new singer Max Morton, who outshines the album with his clear, dynamic and unique voice. “The album combines all our trademarks, has a unique atmosphere due to all the circumstances we had to go through and is accessible and complex at the same time”, Randy Meinhard recently said.
The special thing about SACROSANCT is, that every album sounds different. As the four-piece recently revealed: “We always write and play songs in our own way. We can’t and won’t deny our roots. Of course, our first albums were more thrash-heavy, but there was a lot more going on in the songs. You just can’t reduce us to that. I personally love metal from Maiden to Priest to Fates Warning, VoiVod or Slayer. When writing songs, I try to find out how heavy or commercial a song can be in our own way. But we always want to touch people with the music and if, for example, a blastbeat can be combined with the classic Sacrosanct riff trademarks, then we have arrived at KIDRON.”
Kidron – track listing: 01 – Marching Days 02 – Avenging Angel 03 – Prince Of Clowns 04 – Coming Of The Scorpion 05 – Gethsemane 06 – Doorway Of Dreams 07 – Still Open Sore 08 – Before It Ends 09 – The Pain Still Lasts

HERTA, the latest addition to the Lifeforce Records roster have released their debut single “Eyes of Sorrow”, from the forthcoming album Crossing The Illusion, out May 2nd.
HERTA is a progressive groove metal band, formed in 2022, located in Athens, Greece. Heavily inspired by the great bands of the genre and influenced by the atmosphere of fantasy novels, they departed on a journey to articulate their ideas in the best possible way and explore new sounds and riffs.
Crossing The Illusion is their first album and Lifeforce Records debut, created after three years of hard work, dedication and sacrifices. The main theme is an esoteric and agnostic voyage with the purpose of exploring ones’ self. Heavy riffs, epic choruses, sick grooves, mind-bending poly-rhythms and bottomless atmospheres, in combination with dark poetic lyrics and aggressive vocals, define the album’s identity.
Shout out to the these fine people for visualizing “Eyes of Sorrow” as breathtaking as you can see now, without you it wouldn’t have been possible: Manou Karapetsis (Brosky media), EUS DEUX, Emilia Romo, Hugo Prost, Sylvain Lugrin (Altamont Production), John Nikolopoulos and Maurene Linares
The forthcoming album Crossing The Illusion was produced and mixed by Fotis Benardo at Devasoundz Studios, mastered by Johann Meyer at Silver Cord Studios. Crossing The Illusion is set to be released May 2nd, stay tuned for preorder to be announced soon.
HERTA will be out on the road in February for some Eastern European dates with Oathswan, Hiraeth and This Burning Day.

Speaking on the upcoming shows, TesseracT bassist Amos Williams said “What a wonderful and weird scenario to be in. Our first North American tour was before One was released and was supporting Devin all the way back in 2010. Finnish progressive metallers Damnation Plan have released their third single ‘Dreamdead’ off their new upcoming album ‘The New Horizon’. The new single represents a more straightforward metal side of the new album than the previously released 8 minute progressive epics ‘The New Horizon’ and ‘Under The Veil Of Sea’.
Guitarist / songwriter Kalle Niininen comments: “Dreamdead was one of the first new songs we came up for the new album. It got its form by us exploring a little bit lower tunings than usual for this album. The song got its final heavier feel after we introduced the theme riff with its slower drum beat. The chorus is classic Damnation Plan.”
Single / lyricist Asim Searah comments: “When a soul goes deep into oblivion with sadness and despair, one gets into a state of mind which is hard to fathom. It’s like a constant battle of belief in hope if you keep failing. Dreamdead resolves around such theme and reflects on constant failures in life that make one become hopeless and miserable.”
Witherfall continue their march towards album number 4 with a select appearance opening for the iconic bands Cynic and Atheist! Get your tickets for June 17th at the Teragram ballroom in Los Angeles now before they sell out! Its an early show with Doors open at 6:00 Witherfall on at 6:30 with Cynic closing the night at 8:30.
