5 Out Of 5 METAL Fists!

Metal Fists 5 Metal Odyssey

SINISTER REALM – The greatest Metal band to ever call Allentown, Pennsylvania home is SINISTER REALM. There, I’ve said it. The greatest Metal band to ever call Pennsylvania home is SINISTER REALM. There, I’ve said that as well. Now… onto the Metal Odyssey album review for SINISTER REALM’s WORLD OF EVIL

There are many average, good and grand Metal albums that I’ve listened to thus far in 2013. Let’s just forget the bad Metal albums for they take up precious life moments, you know? What category does the 3rd studio album, World Of Evil, from SINISTER REALM fall into? Try: Fantastical. Anyone familiar with SINISTER REALM knows: this band of Metal Defenders will never deliver filler or artificial flavoring to an album with their name on it.

World Of Evil is 100% True Metal and boasts an Epic Metal atmosphere of invade and conquer. The vocals of Alex Kristof (alone) are epic! John Kantner and John Risko on guitars are epic! John Gaffney’s bass takes center stage; reminding me of how the legendary Steve Harris has always made his presence known with his iconic Iron Maiden. John’s bass is absolutely killer on World Of EvilChris Metzger on drums (once again) dazzles with his classic Metal style.

World Of Evil has 8 Metal glorious songs; with 4 songs surpassing the 6 minute mark. Each song on World of Evil bestows its prominent mystique and melodically heavy uniqueness. Bell Strikes Fear gives me super Metal powers. Well, that’s what I like to think anyways. The album’s title track, The Ghosts Of Nevermore and (album closer) Four Black Witches are high points, among an album of luminous songs that have raised the Metal bar for American True Metal bands everywhere.

You’ve now been briefed. You’ve been given the Metal invitation. The time has cometh for you to enter The Metal Realm, aka the Metal world of SINISTER REALM. Metal be thy name.

After two amazing classically styled heavy metal albums that were each greeted with widespread critical acclaim, Allentown, PA trad-metallers are back with World of Evil. The band’s third full-length album shows no sign of weakness where songwriting and energy are concerned. This is fist pumping heavy metal with big catchy choruses, doomy at times, and all around quality and memorable heavy metal album. Fans of Dio, Heaven and Hell, Candlemass, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden will absolutely love this album.

World of Evil will be available worldwide August 6th through Shadow Kingdom Records.

Channeling the spirit of early 80’s Metal icons like Dio, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden, with an added epic Doom Metal influence from Candlemass, Allentown, Pennsylvania-based Sinister Realm was formed in 2008 by John Gaffney (former Pale Divine) and Darin McCloskey (Pale Divine, Falcon). They quickly found vocalist Alex Kristof and recorded a four song demo that drew the attention of various independent labels. After signing with Shadow Kingdom Records a live band was assembled and a full-length album was released in August of 2009.

Pennsylvania Traditional Metallists Sinister Realm are scheduled to release their third album World of Evil via Shadow Kingdom Records early this summer. Album artwork and track listing can be viewed below.

Commenting on the album artwork, bass player and founding member John Gaffney had this to say:  “I wanted to do something different from our past album covers which used photos and I really wanted it to embody the feel and mood of the songs. I was lucky to get in touch with a great upcoming artist from Portugal named Augusto Peixoto at Iron Doom Design and he was able to bring my vision for the album cover to life.”

With influences ranging from Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Candlemass and Dio, World of Evil will find the band moving in an even darker and more epic direction.  Comments Gaffney, “Many of the songs on the album focus on the evil that man brings to this world, with wars, lies and the dark future that sometimes seems ahead of us.”  Plans are being assembled for the band to hit the road later this year in support of the album.

In other news: Sinister Realm contributed their version of the Anvil classic Forged in Fire to the album Strong as Steel – A Tribute to Anvil, set for release on April 19th on Skol Records, the song can be heard below. John Gaffney had this to say about covering the Anvil classic, “Anvil is the sound of Metal, plain and simple. The jackhammer riffs and Robb’s pounding drums, it doesn’t get much cooler than that! Being a fan of darker sounding riffs and songs with cool drum parts “Forged in Fire” has always been one of my favorite Anvil songs, I hope we do it some justice and maybe even add an extra sinister edge to it….long live heavy metal and long live Anvil!

Check Out Forged In Fire Below!

Formed in 2009 by former Pale Divine bass player John Gaffney and current Pale Divine and current Beelzefuzz drummer Darin McCloskey, Sinister Realm released their 2nd album The Crystal Eye in late 2011.
