Progressive deathcore behemoths WITHIN THE RUINS today present the instrumental edition of their critically adored Phenomena II full-length.

Bassist Paolo Galang comments, “Instrumental versions were initially included with our Phenomena II vinyl releases. We’re stoked to finally share these versions to everyone else who couldn’t pick up a copy. We know WITHIN THE RUINS fans love a good instrumental! WITHIN THE RUINS has booked a short run of live dates surrounding their performance at Michigan Metal Fest 2025. The journey begins August 20th in Albany, New York and runs through August 24th in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Support will be provided by Ov Sulfur. See all confirmed shows below.

The Western Massachusetts quartet of Joe Cocchi (guitar), Kevin McGuill (drums), Paolo Galang (bass, clean vocals), and Steve Tinnon (lead vocals), razes convention with a sonic sensory onslaught anchored by polyrhythmic bludgeoning, head-nodding grooves, viscerally evocative vocals, and vivid storytelling. 

Their controlled chaos has resulted in tens of millions of streams (a rarity for acts this uncompromisingly heavy), packed houses on tour, and widespread acclaim courtesy of Alternative Press, American Songwriter, Loudwire, Metal Injection, Phoenix New Times, and many more.

2024’s Phenomena II serves as the sequel to the WITHIN THE RUINS’ lauded Phenomena full-length. “We had written a handful of songs, and we were searching for inspiration,” recalls guitarist Joe Cocchi. “We wanted to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Phenomena, because it was a pinnacle point of our career. I wrote a demo that reminded [vocalist] Steve [Tinnon] of Phenomena. So, it was his idea to create Phenomena II. The styles really aligned in terms of the unique guitar effects and the themes where each track tells a story from a comic book character’s point-of-view.”

WITHIN THE RUINS To Kick Off US Headlining Dates + Additional Shows Announced | Phenomena II Full-Length Out Now On MNRK Heavy

Progressive deathcore giants WITHIN THE RUINS will kick off a short run of Southwestern headlining shows next week with support provided by Gore. Later this month, the band will head East for another round of shows in the US and Canada. Support will be provided by Dreamwake. In December, the band will join Shadows Fall for their 20th anniversary celebration of The War Within at the historic Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Forced To Miss First Two Shows On Current Tour

As reported on the Within the Ruins Facebook page:

(New York, NY) – Massachusetts Metal act WITHIN THE RUINS flipped their van and trailer off an interstate in Pennsylvania yesterday afternoon. While no one was hurt, their van, trailer and gear were completely destroyed. “We rolled about three times from what I can remember and landed on the median. Our van and trailer are totaled.” says guitarist Joe Cocchi.

The band had set sail from their hometown in MA on their way to California to begin a month-long tour with SUICIDE SILENCE alongside label-mates FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY. Despite the near death experience and loss of gear, the band will push on and make the third show scheduled at El Corazon on Friday, February 20th in Seattle.

Cocchi continues, “All I can say is that we’re happy to be alive. I don’t know how, but none of us were injured. We’re on the road touring because this is all we know and love, and we want to continue. Help us get back on our feet by picking up a shirt. Thank you all for the continued support.”
