“Lament Code”, the new video from Las Vegas based Traditional/Epic Doomsters DEMON LUNG can be seen below. The song comes off DEMON LUNG’s debut EP, Pareidolia, which was released March 20th.

The video was directed by Dustin Mills, the mastermind behind THE PUPPET MONSTER MASSACRE, the low-budget 80’s style horror comedy with an all puppet cast.

“Lament Code” By DEMON LUNG

“Pareidolia” is a 22-minute blend of traditional and epic Doom Metal, rife with horror imagery and lyrics and influenced by the likes of BLACK SABBATH, CANDLEMASS, and vocalist Shanda Fredrick’s worship of COVEN’s Jinx Dawson. Physical copies are available for purchase for $5 through the band’s website and digitally for $4 via Bandcamp. Hex Records will soon be issuing a limited cassette release of Pareidolia.

Pareidolia – Track Listing:

Lament Code

Sour Ground

Death Mask

Pareidolia

Forming only two short years ago, DEMON LUNG hit the ground running and demoed over 20 songs, choosing four of the best for inclusion on Pareidolia. Playing their first show in March 2011, DEMON LUNG quickly became the top doom act in the Las Vegas scene, sharing the stage with such doom heavyweights as High on Fire, Jucifer and Pentagram.

AGALLOCH – Faustian Echoes EP Streaming In Its Entirety; North American Tour Draws Near

Posted in dark metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on July 2, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

AGALLOCH have made their new EP, Faustian Echoes, available for streaming at their Bandcamp page HERE.

This EP will be available as a digital download at the Bandcamp site starting on July 11th when the band begins their Summer tour in Portland, Oregon [see complete routing below]. The LP and CD versions will be released through AGALLOCH’s own imprint, Dammerung Arts. Both the LP and CD versions will be initially only available during the band’s trek (July 11th – August 11th) and will then be made available to the world following the tour.

“Faustian Echoes” is a single, two-part song based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s epic masterpiece “Faust.”  Reaching over twenty minutes, “Faustian Echoes” is the longest song AGALLOCH have ever written. Recorded mostly live at Portland’s Jackpot Studio by Billy Anderson (Melvins, Sleep, Neurosis), mixed by Anderson and later mastered by Justin Weis (Ludicra, Hammers Of Misfortune, Worm Ouroboros) at Trakworx, “Faustian Echoes” continues and expands on AGALLOCH’s dark, brooding, and colossal sound.

Having formed in 1996, AGALLOCH have consistently produced existentially dark music stretching over four full length albums, a handful of EPs, and numerous single tracks and compilation appearances. AGALLOCH’s influence can be seen in many of the so-called “post-black metal” bands and they are often regarded as the first band to bridge the neofolk and black metal genres. The band has earned a reputation for explosive live shows and has sold out venues across Europe and the US.

SOPHICIDE – German Tech Death Metallers Announce Willowtip Debut “Perdition Of The Sublime”

Posted in Death Metal, extreme music, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on July 2, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

German Technical Death Metal sorcerers, SOPHICIDE, are pleased to announce the release of their debut, Perdition Of The Sublime. Set for North American release on August 14, 2012 via Willowtip Records, the 11-track long player was recorded, mixed and mastered by founder Adam Laszlo at his home studio and features the striking cover design by artist Steve Voigt.

Formed as a one-man-project in 2009 by Laszlo, then 19, SOPHICIDE fuses elaborate melodies with battering technical brutality into a sound that’s as malicious as it is memorable. Meaning “murder of wisdom,” SOPHICIDE describes the state of modern society and serves as the central theme of Perdition Of The Sublime. Notes Laszlo: “It’s another word for anti-intellectualism. People are stupid, ignorant and seem to be proud of it. This is a disturbing trend.”

“I’m really keen to release this album,” he continues of the release. “I’ve put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into it and I hope people can connect to it as I do. Basically the overall theme coincides with the meaning of ‘sophicide.’ Intellect and enlightenment seem to be displaced by religion and casting shows. There’s this overall apathy, people don’t seem to give a shit about anything as long as they get their cheap meat and TV shows. This is what POTS is basically about, although the focus is on religion, after all it’s the elephant in the room.”
