You may already know of INFERION’s The Desolate, the Black Metal whirlwind from Mr. Everything Nick Reyes. But in 2003 Reyes’ recorded an EP of blast-beaten, aggressive Melodic Death Metal called Aborted by the Sun that was recorded under the name Farewell My Angel. The original plan to release the EP was halted after the hard drive with the original mixes/master was damaged in a fire. A recent discovery of those original files led Iraq War veteran Reyes to re-record much of the EP when time permitted during Army Special Forces and Selection Training at Fort Bragg, GA. The EP has now been released under the INFERION banner.

Aborted By The Sun – Track Listing:

Kill the Angel

Aborted by the Sun

Burn Away the Memory

Imagine Me Geometry

The God Machine

My Hydrogen Bomb

The Story Of “Aborted By The Sun” As Told By Nick Reyes:

Aborted by the Sun was originally recorded in 2003 under the band name Farewell my Angel. At the time INFERION had put out the album Firewar that was getting some attention, and since this release was more Death Metal, I was going to release it next, but I was never able to do so because the original mixes and masters were damaged on a hard drive that caught fire. Last year, I was going through my storage unit looking for Army gear to pack for SFAS and I came upon some old CDs and DVDs in the same tough box and among them was a DVD simply titled “ABTSMBU.” I put it in the computer and found all the original mixes and masters for the album.

I re-recorded the bass, drums, and some vocals while I was trying out for the Special Forces, so this album is about determination, and the aggressive pursuit of goals. Since this album was semi structured, I just had to redo it in the way that I had envisioned it in my head during the selection course. So I based it around the guitars that were already there and tracked everything as soon as I got home a month later.

XIBALBA – New LP Streaming At Brooklyn Vegan; Tour Begins This Week

Posted in doom metal, hardcore, hardcore metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on August 8, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

As Hasta La Muerte, the second LP from Southern Cali breakdown warriors XIBABLA, nears release, the North American street date now just one week away. In anticipation of the album’s disbursement, and as the unit prepare to embark on tour in support of the mammoth LP later this week, today Brooklyn Vegan is streaming all of Hasta La Muerte. Test the durability of your office furniture by busting out a wicked statgedive in the workplace to the record’s eleven devastating tales.

Taking their down-tuned assault to iniquitous new dimensions, XIBALBA’s breakdowns hit with the force of tsunamis and their riffs like mires of quicksand on Hasta La Muerte, the band’s intense style infusing some of the most Doom-ridden tones one will experience within the Hardcore genre with unstoppable force. Recorded by Taylor Young (of labelmates Nails), and sought out renowned Death Metal artist Dan Seagrave (Dismember, Entombed, Morbid Angel, Suffocation, etc.) to craft the foreboding cover art.

Hasta La Muerte will hit the streets via Southern Lord Records on August 14th in North America, just four days into their month-long North American tour with Alpha & Omega as well as labelmates Power Trip for most of the trek. The action begins at The Power Of The Riff West in Los Angeles this Saturday, August 11th and includes another performance at the first installment of The Power Of The Riff East in Brooklyn on September 1st.
