Bloodstone & Diamonds was once again produced by Robb Flynn himself and Juan Urteaga (TESTAMENT, VILE), and like the last 7 out of 8 albums, was masterfully mixed by Colin Richardson (CARCASS, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, SLIPKNOT, BEHEMOTH). Additional tracking, editing, and mixing was done with heavy metal legend Andy Sneap (EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY, MEGADETH) who also launched his career co-mixing Machine Head’s 2nd album “The More Things Change” and Steve Lagudi.

“I cannot even begin to tell you how proud we are of this album,” comments frontman Robb Flynn. “It’s been a heck of a ride, but man, this album is a milestone for us. You’re going to love it Head Cases.”

“Without getting too philosophical on ya, Bloodstone & Diamonds represent two of the hardest materials on earth, it is also a lyric from the opening track of the album ‘Now We Die’. In many cultures the bloodstone has been used as an amulet to protect against evil and is the symbol of justice. Diamonds are the hardest natural material on earth (which is how we feel about our music) and it also represents the diamond logo I drew 22 years ago (in my wife’s apartment on Dover St. in Oakland) that has become the symbol for the band.”

Cemetery Filth - Screams From The Catacombs - promo cassette cover art pic

Unspeakable Axe Records has released Screams from the Catacombs, the debut EP from CEMETERY FILTH, on limited-edition cassette.

Hailing from the mountainous eastern region of Tennessee, CEMETERY FILTH  sound as if they’d be more at home in an unholy netherworld poised somewhere between Finland and Sweden. This is old school Death Metal in a mainly European vein: morbid, twisted, and abstaining from technicality while injecting just the right-sized dose of melody and eerie lead guitar.

Unspeakable Axe Records is now offering the EP, which was self-recorded by the band earlier this year, on cassette. This release is limited to 200 copies. Check out the title track from Screams from the Catacombs below:

In San Diego “to jam and massacre some legendary songs” at the after-party for Kirk Von Hammet’s Fear FestEvil, Exodus took the time to discuss lineup changes, moving forward and their upcoming Blood in Blood Out.

Torch-carrying guitarist Gary Holt, drummer and co-founder Tom Hunting (now on his third stint with the band) and recently returned vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza (also on third trip) sit in on this discussion. As to how they came to the lineup they’ve assembled for Blood In Blood Out, Hunting says, “We were at an impasse, and this album is number 10, so it had to be special.”

Primordial - Where Greater Men Have Fallen - promo cover pic

Dublin’s finest Metal exports, PRIMORDIAL, will release their long-anticipated new studio album, Where Greater Men Have Fallen, later this Fall via Metal Blade Records.

Commended by Pitchfork for their meticulously composed “folk and black metal-inflected classic metal that spirals and extends and somehow, keeps getting bigger,” and crowned the, “most vital heavy metal band on the planet,” by Last Rites, Where Greater Men Have Fallen serves as the followup to PRIMORDIAL‘s critically adored, 2011-released Redemption At The Puritan’s Hand full-length and boasts some of the band’s deepest, most meticulously composed compositions to date. The eight-track, fifty-eight minute epic was tracked at Grouse Lodge in Dublin with Jaime Gomez (Cathedral, Angelwitch, Grave Miasma).

Singer A.A. Nemtheanga elaborates: “Some time at the end of 2013 we sat and began to plot a course for album number eight. We moved camp to a new rehearsal room and the ideas began to take shape. We felt it was time to try a new studio and engineer, so we went to Grouse Lodge deep in the middle of Ireland and employed Gomez to come over and work on the new album.” The band’s idea was, of course, to keep the PRIMORDIAL trademarks intact while incorporating a broader, heavier more organic sound. “We feel revitalized, the hunger never left and we are ready for another chapter to be written in our history!

Sample the dark, victorious cadence of title track “Where Greater Men Have Fallen,” with the official new lyric video now playing at THIS LOCATION.

Where Greater Men Have Fallen Track Listing:

  1. Where Greater Men Have Fallen
  2. Babel’s Tower
  3. Come The Flood
  4. The Seed Of Tyrants
  5. Ghosts Of The Charnel House
  6. The Alchemist’s Head
  7. Born To Night
  8. Wield Lightning To Split The Sun

Where Greater Men Have Fallen will be released in North America on November 25th, 2014 via Metal Blade Records. Point your browser to http://www.metalblade.com/primordial for a host of preorder options.

The record will come available as a standard jewel case CD and on vinyl in various color variants. Where Greater Men Have Fallen will also be released as a limited European deluxe edition wood box set which includes a CD+DVD digibook, an exclusive 7″, a leather wristband, a poster and a certificate of authenticity.

PRIMORDIAL:

A.A. Nemtheanga – Vocals

Ciaran MacUiliam – Guitar

Michael O’Floinn – Guitar

Paul MacAmlaigh – Bass

Simon O’Laoghaire – Drums
