On December 27th, 1969 – Led Zeppelin II hits #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart in the United States for the first of seven weeks; it will eventually reach #1 in the UK in February of 1970.
On this day in 1975 – A Night at the Opera by the legendary Queen is at #1 on the UK album charts. This album features the timeless Rock Operetta: Bohemian Rhapsody. The hit single, You’re My Best Friend is also featured on this classic Queen album.
On December 27th, 1977 – The great Aerosmith performed at the New Haven Coliseum, in New Haven, Connecticut. Aerosmith were touring in support of their 5th studio album, released in December of 1977: Draw The Line. The late Albert Hirschfeld was the caricature illustration artist for this album cover.
MICK JONES
On December 27th, 1944, Mick Jones was born in England. Happy Rockin’ birthday, Mick! Holy Mackerel! Mick Jones is world-famously known as the co-founder, guitarist and songwriter for the amazing Hard Rock band: Foreigner. Shown above is the Kerrang! Since 1977, Foreigner have released nine studio albums and Mick Jones is the only band member to play on all of them. Foreigner have sold tens of millions of albums world-wide. Consistently touring to this day, Foreigner have just released on December 16th, a new live greatest hits album of 12 songs, via Sony: The Best Of Foreigner 4 & More.
Mick Jones had a rhythm guitar appearance on Peter Frampton’s first solo studio album from 1972: Wind Of Change. Mick Jones also had an acoustic guitar appearance on George Harrison’s 1974 solo studio album: Dark Horse. Mick Jones also gave a lending hand in producing Van Halen’s 1986 studio album: 5150.
The lone Mick Jones solo album (above) was released back in 1989, via Atlantic Records. A self-titled album, this solo release features 10 songs. Music legends Carly Simon and Billy Joel appear as guest singers on this Mick Jones album, along with the outstanding Joe Lynn Turner. Long live the legendary Mick Jones! Metal be thy name. – Stone
