SAVIOURS – California Metal Behemoths Confirm North American Tour With CORROSION OF CONFORMITY; “Palace Of Vision” Full-Length To See Release Via Listenable Records Next Month

California Metal behemoths, SAVIOURS, will embark upon a North American Fall tour supporting Corrosion Of Conformity and Brant Bjork And The Low Desert Punk Band. The trek will commence on November 16th and run through December 10th with additional support provided by Mothership. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 18th at all local ticket outlets.

The tour follows SAVIOURS‘ impending performance at the Day Of The Shred Festival in Santa Ana, California and comes in conjunction with their long-awaited new full-length, Palace Of Vision, set to detonate via Listenable Records next month. Captured at Type Foundry in Portland, Oregon with the inimitable Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth, Eyehategod, Taurus, Ommadon etc.), Palace Of Vision thrusts forth nine tracks of SAVIOURS‘ signature brand of towering riffs, colossal rhythms, infectious guitar harmonies and an obsession with the end of times, the occult, psychedelics and the arcane.

Canadian Experimental Death Metal Band VHOD To Release Debut Album!

After a few months in his home studio in Armstrong, BC, Chris Shaver has produced the debut full-length VHOD album, ‘Dreamcleaver’. Chris mans the helm alone, performing all the instruments and vocals and this album showcases snippets of unused material spanning many years as well as brand new material. The release is a fair representation of VHOD’s Experimental Death Metal angle and will cement a milestone for Chris in his quarter-of-a-century musical journey thus far.

VHOD was conceived in January 2014 and is a merger of Godcursed (2004-2014), Morbid Darkness (1989-2014) and Worms Of The Birth (2011-2014), which were all active projects of sole member Chris Shaver at the time. Early VHOD releases exhibited sporadic styles and were mostly instrumental pieces used as a basis for finding a more focussed signature sound. Said releases consist of 3 singles, ‘The Scornful Winter’, ‘One Fallen’ & ‘Cimmeria’ and an EP, ‘Dreams Of 11.14′, respectively, all released independently.

In December of 2014, work began on the ‘Tor’ Series, which consists of 4 parts: ‘Behind The Shroud Of Mist’, ‘Wrap Three Times’, ‘Portal’ and ‘The Desolates’, respectively. In these independent releases an evident foundation was made with which future VHOD recordings will branch out from. Dreamcleaver is set for release November 13th 2015 on Finnish label INVERSE RECORDS.

On September 16th, 2015 – The newly released SLAYER studio album, Repentless, is ranked #1, on the iTunes Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums Chart. Whoa!

Titled, New World Order, the seven track concept album and follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed Tales Between Reality And Madness long player was captured by bassist Riccardo Pasini (Ephel Duath, The Secret) at Studio73 in Ravenna, Italy and mastered by Collin Jordan (Eyehategod, Indian, Wovenhand, Voivod etc.) at The Boiler Room in Chicago, Illinois.

“New World Order represents to us a new culmination of our sound,” issues of the band of their latest compositions. “Now more than ever you can call it visionary, sludgy and progressive. It’s an occult, esoteric and wicked metaphor to the modern society as we consider it: with no positive expectations of the future of this world. REX SHACHATH – Announce New Record ‘Revocation Of The Blood Elect’

Having laid low since the end of 2014, Northern Irish Death Metallers Rex Shachath have suddenly announced their return and are back for blood with a brand new record which will be out November 20th via Great Dane Records.

Entitled Revocation Of The Blood Elect, this new EP might not be what people are expecting if they’re familiar with the band’s debut offering Sepulchral Torment. Since that release, the band have had time to coalesce and where Sepulchral Torment had more of a ‘old school’ sound, Revocation Of The Blood Elect is an entirely new animal. Tackling social issues such as the state of modern society and man’s exorbitant desire for wealth at the expense of our natural world, the band have harnessed a sound more befitting to such issues on their forthcoming record.

Old school ideals kneaded with modern Death Metal notions on a much more up to date and punchier production is what we have here. Revocation Of The Blood Elect carries a sound as big, if not bigger, than its message.

Vocalist and lyricist Dave Connolly sums the record up with a quote from French philosopher Denis Diderot, “Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.”

Artwork (as seen above), was completed by UK artist Godmachine famed for his work with bands such as Suicide Silence, Bring Me The Horizon, Cannibal Corpse and Job For A Cowboy to name a few. The EP was recorded, mixed and mastered by Joe Thompson at Sonic Forge Studio, Cardiff, Wales.

VASTUM – Cult San Francisco Death Metal Horde To Release Third LP, “Hole Below”, Via 20 Buck Spin This Fall

Through the verbose horror of their first two LPs (2011’s Carnal Law and 2013’s Patricidal Lust) San Francisco’s VASTUM sadistically carved a jagged dripping wound into an increasingly reductive American Death Metal scene. One of the most lyrically unique, creative and disturbing bands in underground Metal, now arising for their third full length album, VASTUM plumbs the depths of internalized agony and degradation farther than ever on Hole Below.

Characterized by a deeply cavernous trudge through gut churning heaviness, Hole Below both bluntly crushes and rigorously shreds to conceive fully formed grotesqueries of debased brutality. Guitarist Leila Abdul-Rauf wields her axe with the experienced slice of a masked executioner, quartering savage riffs and twisting leads alongside the thunder of guitarist Shelby Lermo. The abhorrent vocal (and lyrical) morbidity traded by imposing frontman Daniel Butler and Abdul-Rauf continues to be the most formidable combination in Death Metal. The intimidating rhythm section of bassist Luca Indrio and drummer Adam Perry steer the war machine through the pooled blood and skull fragments scattered amidst the debauched iniquity of this peculiar hell.

Three albums in, VASTUM has honed their disturbed masochism into a sound manifestly their own and true to the core of the purest darkest Death Metal. Crushingly recordead at Earhammer Studios in Oakland and mastered at Audiosiege by Brad Boatright, the art for Hole Below was created by vocalist Daniel Butler. 20 Buck Spin (also responsible for the release of the band’s prior two albums) presents Hole Below as one of the finest and best executed examples of the genre this year.

Hole Below will emerge on CD and digital formats on November 6th, with the LP to follow in December. Fans of Bolt Thrower, Grave, Death, Asphyx, Shroud Of The Heretic, Cruciamentum and the like are hereby on notice.

VASTUM will strike with new tour dates in support of Hole Below, including the band’s debut East Coast performances which are being slabbed for early November. Stand by for tour specifics in the coming days.

Hi friends, kc here. My longtime friend and collaborator Gary Richrath passed away earlier today. I feel so sad. Gary was both a unique guitarist and songwriter, and the embodiment of the tough guy with a heart of gold. I learned most of what I know about being in a rock band from Gary Richrath. The entire REO Family mourns his death and shares in the grief of his family, friends, and fans. These words do not come close to expressing the depth of emotions I am feeling at this time…kc

HYPERMASS – Shines Through “Clouded Visions” On Début EP

Not all stones are stationary: Hypermass may recall images of huge monoliths, but these structures have speed! From the far-flung climes of Trondheim, Norway, Hypermass are a genre-melding Extreme Metal band whose goal is to draw upon the melody of death, black and thrash metal, and occasionally throw in some prog and jazz influences too. Clouded Visions is the result of intense jamming in these genres.

Sindre Dagestad, guitarist, commented on the recording process: “Since we didn’t have a producer there to tell us how much we sucked, we really went hard on ourselves to get the best result possible. It was a great experience, and all that hard work quickly paid off when we heard the amazing mixing/mastering job done by Stamos Koliousis, as he really breathed new life into the music.”

BAND BIO:

Hypermass is a Melodic Death Metal band hailing from Trondheim, Norway. Formed in 2012, the quintet first garnered attention from the local scene by fusing all kinds of different subgenres together, with elements of Black, Death, and Thrash Metal all while heavily relying on melody. Since releasing their first demo Into Oblivion in late 2013, the band have refined and focused their sound to a tight and extreme style of Metal, without forsaking the all-important melody.

In the summer of 2014, the band attended music high school and started writing their debut EP. Their bassist Martin Nordvik departed into the military, where he still serves. They got the interest of other bass players and quickly settled on the skilled Marius Grindflek. Their debut EP Clouded Visions was recorded in February 2015 by the band at the school (Trøndertun Folkehøgskole).

The band contacted several mixing/mastering engineers, before agreeing that Stamos Koliousis was the right choice, mostly for his incredible work with his own band Mencea. Now that the EP has been released and available worldwide, the band is currently in the early stages of writing their debut full-length.

Re-Armed have been around since 2001, when five guys from Kerava, Finland decided to start playing similar music likened to so-called “Gothenburg metal.” Their musical style has evolved along with many critically acclaimed demo tapes, gigs, lineup changes and a well-received debut album Worldwide Hypnotize, which was released internationally on January 2012 via Massacre Records. After releasing their debut, the band supported names such as Chimaira, Suffocation, Origin, Cattle Decapitation and Cryptopsy for the tours in Europe. In this year Re-Armed also made their first big outdoor festival appearance at Bloodstock Open Air at Catton Hall in the UK.

The second album Rottendam was released on January 2014 via Eternal Sound Records, but major lineup changes froze the band almost for a year. Former guitarist/songwriter Tommi Helkalahti decided to leave the band, leaving vocalist Jouni Matilainen as the only current former member in the band.

CRETUS – Releases “Dux Mea Lux” On Pavement Music; New Music Video Streaming

CRETUS’ music is hard-hitting thrash metal at its core; mathematically precise riffs, dive-bombing guitar solos, and thundering drums pummel the listener and their compelling melodies and bizarre pop sensibility make each song from Dux Mea Lux subtly addictive.

Rock vet Pepper Keenan (DOWN, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY) has been singing the mysterious group’s praises, stating: “CRETUS is a killer band with ripping guitar work and clear vocal hooks. For sure a future global outfit. They wear masks and slaughter virgins on stage. Need I say more?”

While it is unknown exactly when or where CRETUS formed, they began publicly spreading their message through music in 2014, with the group rapidly gaining strong support after their first show opening for legendary metal band DOWN in New Orleans. Devout followers of CRETUS pack into shows wearing the group’s signature black masks and cloaks, bobbing their heads in support as hypnotic lights pulse and dense fog surrounds them, becoming a raving heavy metal congregation unable and unwilling to escape the dark energy emanating from the speakers.

Multi-sensory performance rituals such as sacrificial demonstrations and strange pagan rites add an even more ominous tone to the already frightening spectacle of the four masked figures destroying the stage. Heavily symbolic imagery, esoteric subject matter, and poetic lyrics give listeners something deeper to latch onto with CRETUS, and Pavement Records is proud to have released their debut EP.

Led by surviving member George Anthony, the band has three furious brand new songs that kick ass just as effectively as their classics. BATTALION OF SAINTS was a major catalyst in accelerating the transition from the already upbeat, adrenaline-charged punk of the early 1980s in to feral, snarling hardcore punk of the highest quality and intensity. Pounding distorted pace, live shows dripping with sweat and threat, and a gnarly attitude – BATTALION OF SAINTS stands tall among bands from the era including the Dead Kennedys, Crucifix, Minor Threat and Discharge as well as Southern Lord’s Poison Idea, The Offenders and Excel, remaining a crucial part of an immortal and ongoing legacy.

Founding vocalist George Anthony leads the charge in 2015, joined by a no-nonsense lineup of hardcore convicts; drummer Mike Vega plays in legendary cult thrashers Hirax, while Matt Vicknair has spent time on bass in equally eminent USHC hardcore royalty Angry Samoans and the band now sees guitarist Nate Javier, also of Angry Samoans and others, joining the lineup.

An Illustrated Tribute To Celtic Frost, a mega 155-page comic with illustrations and illustrated anecdotes from a varied bunch of metal musicians/authors. Dark Descent Records To Release GRAVE RITUAL’s “Morbid Throne”

Five years removed from their acclaimed debut album, the maniacs of Grave Ritual have re-emerged from the crypt with Morbid Throne. The band’s newest burnt offering delivers nine tracks of blasphemous, old-school Death Metal in the vein of Incantation, Death and Autopsy. Dark Descent Records will release Morbid Throne October 30 on CD, LP and digital formats. Cover art for the album was done by Daniel Desecrator.

Formed from the ashes of Alabama bred duo Meathole Infection in 2009, Grave Ritual’s sole purpose is to create dark and primitive Death Metal. The band’s self-titled demo was released in 2009. A year later, Dark Descent Records released Grave Ritual’s first full-length album, Euphoric Hymns from the Altar of Death. Since the release of their debut album, Grave Ritual has focused on perfecting their devastating live assaults, sharing the stage with such bands as Proclamation, Revenge, Black Witchery, and Inquisition. They have played Rites of Darkness II and III, as well as several appearances at Destroying Texas Fest. The band is now stationed in New Orleans. Grave Ritual’s highly anticipated second full-length album, Morbid Throne, is set for release in late 2015 on Dark Descent records.
