ANTAGONIST ZERO – “No Tears” MCD Releases On August 14th, 2015, via Inverse Records

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music with tags antagonist zero, metal albums 2015, Metal News, metal odyssey on July 24, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

As the Finnish summer draws to an end, the once white nights grow darker and colder by the day. Antagonist Zero delivers a fitting soundtrack for the season, complementing the darkening skies with a blend of atmospheric melodies and aggressive melancholy. On August 14 the band’s latest offering, No Tears MCD, is released via Inverse Records. No Tears continues on the path set by Antagonist Zero’s previous releases, the critically acclaimed Doomed and Nighttime Harmony, blending together elements of doom, death and post shades of metal.

No Tears consists of five songs: three originals and two covers. The originals are a harbinger of an upcoming full-length album, demonstrating new elements in Antagonist Zero’s music – such as the title track’s this-will-get-stuck-in-your-head riffs, Profound Oblivion’s wrecking ball groove and Suru, which is sung completely in Finnish. The two cover songs are familiar to listeners from the band’s live shows: Doom:VS’s melodic doom suits the band like a glove in the form of The Lachrymal Sleep, while Missä muruseni on, by Finnish pop queen Jenni Vartiainen, has received a work over which has already charmed live audiences all over Europe, Russia and China.

The release of No Tears will be celebrated on August 15 at Dark River festival in Kotka, Finland, where Antagonist Zero will be playing with such bands as Ghost Brigade, Poisonblack and Stam1na. More tour dates will be announced soon.

Track Listing:

No Tears (9:12)

Profound Oblivion (7:22)

Suru (7:27)

Missä Muruseni On (4:37)

The Lachrymal Sleep (7:26)

Antagonist Zero is:

Ben Pakarinen – guitar and vocals

Juho Suokas – guitar

Jussi Ruokolainen – drums

Fredde Sjöblom – bass

A SOUND OF THUNDER – Debuts New Album, Exclusive Cover Art On Kickstarter; Based On Valiant’s SHADOWMAN Comic Book Series!

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, metal music, Music, rock music with tags a sound of thunder, metal albums 2015, Metal News, metal odyssey on July 23, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Washington D.C. area Metal band A SOUND OF THUNDER has announced their new album “Tales from the Deadside” with a Kickstarter campaign that reached full funding in under 24 hours. The new album is a full-length concept album based on Valiant Entertainment’s SHADOWMAN comic book series.

The album was recorded at Assembly Line Studios with RIAA-platinum awarded producer Kevin ‘131’ Gutierrez (Shinedown, While Heaven Wept, Raven). The new release “Tales from the Deadside” is set for release on September 25th and will be available on CD, limited colored vinyl, and in a number of exclusive pre-order packages only on Kickstarter. The standard CD edition of “Tales from the Deadside” will feature all-new Shadowman cover artwork, while select backers of the Kickstarter campaign can obtain an exclusive cover featuring Shadowman’s arch-nemesis Master Darque. (see below):

“The story of Shadowman, his alter-ego Jack Boniface, and the many characters in his world inspired us to create what we believe is our best album to date,” said A Sound Of Thunder guitarist Josh Schwartz. “We let the story lead us to places our music has never been before, combining all the elements of supernatural horror, drama, action and adventure found in the comics. Of course everything has gone through our own unique Thunderous filter, and all the familiar ASOT elements will be there, Shadowman’s harrowing journey demanded no less!”

A Sound of Thunder was formed in Washington, DC in 2009. Their most recent album “The Lesser Key of Solomon” was released on September 9th, 2014 via Mad Neptune Records and debuted at #43 on the Billboard Heatseeker’s Albums chart.

A Sound Of Thunder:

Nina Osegueda – vocals

Josh Schwartz – guitars/ keyboards

Jesse Keen – guitars/ keyboards

Chris Haren – drums/ percussion

KING HEAVY – Offer Preview Of Forthcoming Self-Titled Release, With Promo Video For Album Track “La Gárgola”

Posted in doom metal, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, rock music with tags doom metal, king heavy, metal albums 2015, metal odyssey on July 19, 2015 by Metal Odyssey

Chilean / Belgian Epic Doom metallers KING HEAVY present La Gárgola, the first track off their upcoming self-titled, full-length debut album. “La Gárgola” (Spanish for “Gargoyle”) offers a good look at what’s to come when the album is released in early September. This is heavy and epic Doom Metal led by the multifaceted vocals of Luce Vee (Hooded Priest / Witchsmeller Pursuivant), melting into twisted and obscure melodies in the vein of Celtic Frost’s masterpiece Into the Pandemonium.

Check out the promo video for “La Gárgola” now at this location.

Cruz Del Sur Music will release the album September 4 (Europe) and September 19 (North America) on CD, digital and limited-edition vinyl. Soon after the album’s release, KING HEAVY will embark upon a tour that will bring the band to Europe for appearances at Malta Doom Fest and Dutch Doom Days Fest. Confirmed shows are as follows:

Chilean Dates:
OCT 2 Valparaíso, ELE Bar, w/ Inquisición, Metal Grave,
OCT 3 Olmué, KH HeadQuarters
OCT 8 Santiago, Mi Bar
OCT 9 Rancagua, Golden Ba, w/ Clair de Lune Morte
OCT 10 Osorno, w/ Ruined
OCT 11 Temuco, w/ Retrosatan

European Dates:
OCT 15 TBA
OCT 16 Leipzig, Germany
OCT 17 Wien, Austria
OCT 18 TBA
OCT 23 Malta Doom Fest
OCT 24 TBA
OCT 25 TBA
OCT 28 Birmingham, UK w/ Iron Void
OCT 29 London, UK w/ Iron Void
OCT 30 Lille, France w/ Iron Void
OCT 31 Vosselaar, Biebob, Belgium w/ Iron Void, Witchsmeller Pursuivant
NOV 01 Dutch Doom Days, Rotterdam, Baroeg, Netherlands

KING HEAVY is anything but the typical brand of mono-dimensional, superficial Doom Metal. KING HEAVY rocks! Aside from strong elements of CANDLEMASS and of the more traditional Doom Metal sound, KING HEAVY offers epic arrangements and a twisted touch that reminds of BLACK SABBATH’s Born Again, CELTIC FROST’s Into the Pandemonium and the early, darkest side of DANZIG. The album contains seven songs for a total running time of over 47 minutes and was engineered, mixed and mastered by Pablo Clares at DM6 Studio (Chile). Vocals were recorded by Peter Maene at Creative Factory (Belgium).

Legendary producer Billy Anderson has expertly harnessed the band’s smoke-belching locomotive style, while the songwriting is the most captivating of the quartet’s career. Guitarist Matt Price had this to say about the results:

“It’s a relatively dark album, which is probably fitting. A few of the riffs and ideas had pretty much coagulated right before Kevin’s accident, and most of the others were colored by it, so yeah it feels kinda heavy and dark to me. I hope I don’t sound like a high falootin’ artisté, but it felt personal for me and Chase, so it wound up being more than just stringing riffs together, ya know? That being said Cas and Jordan came in and kicked ass and brought their own stamp to the sound. So it’s a bit different, but I think it captures the essence what Behold! The Monolith is all about!”

Architects of the Void follows critically acclaimed 2012 release Defender, Redeemist and marks the debut of vocalist Jordan Nalley who took the reigns following the tragic 2013 death of Kevin McDade in a car accident. The album will also be the first for new bassist Jason “Cas” Casanova (SASQUATCH). The album artwork was created by Dusty Peterson (Bloodbath, Six Feet Under, Oceano).

The band has posted a video of its March 18th performance at Los Globos in L.A. Check it out at this location.
