Stream / Share DEATH VANISH’s “Solipsism And Antichrist” At THIS LOCATION

Connecticut black metal unit DEATH VANISH will unleash the traumatic, four-song Cold Hammer Of Melancholy EP via Eternal Death next month.

The solo project of One Master guitarist/vocalist Valder, DEATH VANISH is unabashedly influenced by the primitive sounds of Beherit and Profanatica. Playing select live shows with a full lineup, the song writing and all instruments on the recorded material is performed solely by Valder. DEATH VANISH‘s Cold Hammer Of Melancholy EP follows last year’s split with Misanthropos and will be released on cassette via Eternal Death on November 16th.

In advance of its release, opening psalm “Solipsism And Antichrist” is currently streaming at the DEATH VANISH Bandcamp page.

Offers Valder of the track, “The opening track ‘Solipsism And Antichrist’ is primarily inspired by the mid-tempo, pummeling moments on Beherit’s Drawing Down The Moon, with the bass guitar playing a more prominent role than the songs on our earlier release.”

For Hammer Of Melancholy preorders and to hear “Solipsism And Antichrist,” go to THIS LOCATION.

Hammer Of Melancholy – Track Listing:

  1. Solipsism And Antichrist
  2. Cold Hammer Of Melancholy
  3. Saturnian Realms Return
  4. Bloodless Fog (Of My Mind)

“Death Vanish” refers to the instinct to isolate oneself – to “die” and “vanish” from the external world into one’s own. On both a micro level (i.e. leaving a particular social or life situation) and macro level (i.e. leaving the bounds of the material world), the ideology of this project is to understand and harness the power of this inward looking instinct.

Australia’s ROAD WARRIOR “Sweating Out the Poison” In New Lyric Video

Road Warrior - Power - promo album cover pic - 2018 - #33MO277ILMGN

Australian True Metal brigade ROAD WARRIOR have released a lyric video for “Sweating Out the Poison,” a track from forthcoming Gates of Hell Records debut album Power. Get to sweating at youtu.be/6pDDxuAcREQ

ROAD WARRIOR will release their debut full-length album, Power, on October 12 via Gates Of Hell Records. Featuring eight tracks of “diverse, fist-clenching, manly and classic metal,” Powerwas recorded at Against The Grain Studiosin Adelaide, South Australia with Andy Kite at the helm.

Pre-order Power on CD and Vinyl at: http://tinyurl.com/ycp8hjec

Stream “Don’t Fight Fate” below:

roadwarrior-metal.bandcamp.com/track/dont-fight-fate

Comments bassist/vocalist Denimal Blake: “It is a statement of our intent: To inject ‘Power’ back into a heavy metal scene that has been somewhat bereft of it. Whether if it truly is an objective case or not, that is our summary and the crux of the band. When heavy metal first gained a foothold it was the personification of musical power, a very special time that is finally coming back to strength, regardless of trends, due to its dominance.”

ROAD WARRIOR (who are rounded out by guitarist Overdryve and drummer Villon) are said to have recorded Power with “gusto, the gnashing teeth and thrusting of loins,” meaning, the album’s cuts are leaning heavily on the band’s ’80s influences as well as the proto-metal scene from the latter part of the ’70s. Says Blake: “Our influences are in a blender this time, laced with the flavor of ROAD WARRIOR, METAL CHURCHBLACKKOUT, early IRON MAIDENSAVATAGEJUDAS PRIESTLOUDNESSRIOTTWISTED SISTER and HEXX.”

Accordingly, Blake says the album’s lyrical themes are quite varied: “Sex, sex and more sex, along with a bit of historical conspiracy, power, pre-diluvial civilization and hotter sex.” Tongue-and-cheek aside, Blake and his ROAD WARRIOR bandmates remain steadfast in their conviction to true heavy metal.

“We have an acute awareness of the NWOTHM [NEW WAVE OF TRADITIONAL HEAVY METAL] and know that we stand out in many ways, whether it’s due to influence, locality or pedigree. Either way, I cannot speak for the ears of others, but we are supremely confident the album will live up to the album cover and title and help usher in a new age of classic rock and metal as the trends dissolve.”

“This song is based on the urban legend of the North of Russia. It is about the freight train number 1702, which travels through the deep forests of Northern Europe. According to legend, during the journey, the crew meets an alien object that first surrounds the train, and then picks up the train and moves it with a giant speed. The song describes what is happening and the emotional feeling of the crew, including visual and sound design tools (the average tempo of the composition, like the train, guitar parts emphasize what the song is about, there are original sounds of the train). Band Bio:

Second To Sun is a metal band from Saint Petersburg, Russia, founded in 2012 by its guitarist Vladimir Lehtinen. Second To Sun concentrate on the musical and creative aspect more and use visual elements on every song (artwork, lyrics, behind the song infos etc.) to give more depth and back story to the music. The band’s music contains a blend of metal genres: on the one hand, it has the many rhythmic elements of groove metal; on the other hand, it continues the legacy of such classic Scandinavian black metal bands as Emperor, Mayhem, and Dakthrone.

Such diverse musical roots of the band protrude from Vladimir Lehtinen’s songwriting, Gleb Sysoev‘s soul-crushing vocals and Fedor Borovsky‘s groovy drum lines. The band releases two versions of each album – the vocal and the instrumental one. Each individual instrumental composition is accompanied by unique artwork and a hefty description of the story the composition tells, which provides a deeper insight into the music, as well as the band’s inspiration and creative process. German Metal Force HAMMER KING Are “At The Mercy Of The Waves” In New Video

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, news, rock music, world news with tags , , , , , , on October 6, 2018 by Metal Odyssey

Hammer King - Poseidon Will Carry Us Home - promo cover pic - 2018 - #33MO733ILMGD

German True Metal ensemble HAMMER KING have released a music video for At The Mercy of the Waves, a song from forthcoming album Poseidon Will Carry Us Home. Check it out at: youtu.be/HN1Zj2CdLLA or below:

HAMMER KING will release their third full-length, Poseidon Will Carry Us Home, on October 5 via Cruz Del Sur Music. Recorded at Studio Greywolf with POWERWOLF bassist Charles Greywolf at the helm, Poseidon Will Carry Us Home is an unabashed bow to classic, anthemic, hook-laden metal, proving HAMMER KING was more than up to the task of meeting the often-high expectations that come with a band’s third album.

The album will be available on CD, digital, and black (300 copies) and blue (200 copies) vinyl LP formats.

Pre-order Poseidon Will Carry Us Home: www.cruzdelsurmusic.com/store/

Variety abounds on Poseidon Will Carry Us Home, with HAMMER KING engaging in strident, call-to-arms jaunts like the opening title track and “Battle Of Wars”. Twin guitar harmonies and fierce gallops highlight “7 Days And 7 Kings” and “Where The Hammer Hangs”, while the true metal call is heeded on the mid-tempo “Warriors Of Angelhill” and “Glorious Nights Of Glory.” HAMMER KING‘s progression is best exemplified on album standout “We Sail Cape Horn,” an adventurous, sea-faring number that is equal nods to classic IRON MAIDEN and progressive rock.

An album stocked with future anthems at every corner, Poseidon Will Carry Us Home is representative of a band now hitting its creative stride – and fully realizing it.

GREYHAWK – To Release Debut EP: “Ride Out”

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, news, rock music, world news with tags , , , , , on October 5, 2018 by Metal Odyssey

CD400_out

Seattle-based classic heavy metal band GREYHAWK are gearing up for the release of their debut EP, Ride Out. Featuring six blazing tracks of trad metal in the vein of DIO, MANOWAR and BLIND GUARDIAN, GREYHAWK will self-release Ride Out on October 18th.

The EP’s first single, “The Abdication,” is streaming at this location and below:

Pre-order Ride Out at greyhawkmetal.bandcamp.com.

Ride Out was recorded, mixed and mastered by Cody J Brumlow at Hangar 12 Studios, Mountlake Terrace, Washington. Album artwork by Jesse White.

The story of GREYHAWK begins in late 2016, when Jesse Berlin, a neoclassical shredder from New York, and Darin Wall, a proud rock warrior from the northern wastelands of Canada, joined forces in Seattle, Washington. Together they scoured the city for fellow warriors who were true enough to join their cause. After over a year of searching, reinforcements finally arrived in the form of Enrico Mariuzzo, another rock and roll shred demon all the way from Italy, and the booming operatic voice of Revere Taylor, who while dazzling audiences at Seattle Opera also yearned for heavy metal glory. The four gathered on the regular, crafting songs and planning their attack, and then finally the last piece of the puzzle arrived from across the Cascade Mountains in the form of the powerhouse drummer Nate Butler.  After many hours of blood and sweat, GREYHAWK entered the studio, employing the expertise of audio wizard Cody J Brumlow to forge their debut EP, Ride Out.  Now they set out to bring their brand of heavy metal to the unsuspecting masses…

GREYHAWK:

Rev Taylor – Vocals

Jesse Berlin – Guitar

Enrico Mariuzzo – Guitar

Darin Wall – Bass Guitar

Nate Butler – Drums

Progressive Death Metal Vets ZEALOTRY To Release ‘At The Nexus Of All Stillborn Worlds’ On Unspeakable Axe in December

Posted in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, news, rock music, world news with tags , , , , , on September 29, 2018 by Metal Odyssey

Two years after their last full-length, ZEALOTRY are back with their newest offering (and first with Unspeakable Axe Records), titled At The Nexus Of All Stillborn Worlds. The album will be released on December 7th.

A promo video for the album’s title track is available at youtu.be/MB0AVpKcA4I or below:

This is progressive death metal at its most uncompromising; dense with intricate riffs, elaborate bass lines, mind-melting lead guitar work and more. Clean choral vocals add a Timeghoul-ish aspect to certain songs; in other places, bewildering effects occasionally will warp a track into an aural acid trip. Elaborate structures occasionally peel back to reveal a Chasm-inspired melodic development.

Featuring a member of Chthe’ilist and influenced by a broad palette of death metal explorers including At the Gates, Obliveon, Brutality, and Atheist, At The Nexus Of All Stillborn Worlds is a dizzying new peak in ZEALOTRY’s 13-year history. Experience eight tracks and nearly 43 minutes of some of the most dense and rewarding music death metal has to offer, on CD, cassette and digital platforms from Unspeakable Axe Records. Look for pre-orders to be available next week.

Track List:

  1. At The Nexus of All Stillborn Worlds
  2. Accursed
  3. Lethe’s Shroud
  4. Primus Venatoris
  5. The Hole
  6. Universal Deceit
  7. The Sky Bleeds Nightmares

PIAH MATER SIGN WITH CODE666

Posted in Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, news, rock music, world news with tags , , , , on August 29, 2018 by Metal Odyssey

Brazilian progressive death metal band PIAH MATER are pleased to announce that they have signed with legendary Italian label code666 to release their forthcoming album The Wandering Daughter on October 5th 2018.

Vocalist Luiz Felipe Netto commented: “Code666 has been the cradle of many great bands that went on to later become household names in their niche. We are very honored by this opportunity and looking forward to seize it in the best possible way.”

He further explains that “Although it’s not a concept album per se, “The Wandering Daughter” does have a common theme throughout its entirety, a thread that connects its 6 songs into a sensorial unity. On a musical level, we aimed for that feeling of being taken on a journey, with its many pitfalls and climaxes along the record’s 56 minutes of play. Lyric-wise, that thread would be the relationship between man/ woman and nature. I understand that, at a first glance, this is not exactly groundbreaking territory for a band to explore in their songs, plenty of artists have delved into this topic before. But I do believe that, when crafting lyrics, perspective is everything and that the way this subject is presented stems from a very genuine and intimate place. I hope that comes across to the listeners as well.”

More information will be available soon.

Russian Metal Trio SECOND TO SUN Release ‘The Black’ / Album Streaming

Second To Sun - The Black - album cover pic - 2018 - #33MO22ILMN3

Russian Metal trio SECOND TO SUN are proud to announce the release of The Black, a reissue of the Blackbound (2016) album, which was re-recorded to add vocals, among several other enhancements.

The Black was released on May 16. It can be purchased at this location and is streaming in its entirety on SECOND TO SUN’s  Bandcamp page and YouTube Channel. Guitarist, bassist, and mastermind of the project, Vladimir Lehtinen released the following statement concerning The Black:

“Being the child of my thoughts, this album is the true face of the band – a well-fused combination of melodic black metal and groove metal the way we see it. As always, the album includes a separate unique story behind each song.”

“Our ambitions were through the roof on this release – we re-recorded and improved the lines for all the instruments, including the drums, bass, and even addinig some extra guitars, while Gleb’s [Sysoev] vocals sound as massive and crushing as always. Honesty and a natural aggressive sound are the qualities that distinguish independent artists from purely commercial ones these days, and we are happy that we can create music for the sake of art and not for just raking in some cash. We hope that our sound, punchy and somewhat scary, like a gust of cold northern wind in a seemingly empty home in the middle of the night will let you get fully immersed in the atmosphere that we embedded in the music – nine different stories related to darkness. Darkness in temptations, actions, soul, socium, thoughts – darkness in anything and everything you can possibly imagine. Don’t forget that each song has annotations, as we try to create real musical works of art that frighten with their beauty. And beauty is enchanting.”

The Black is available on SpotifyiTunes, Bandcamp, and other digital retailers.

Gruesome - Twisted Prayers - promo album cover - 2018 - #233MO33ILMG

“While cribbing the raw sound and style of Death circa Leprosy and Scream Bloody Gore seems like a manageable task given the music’s proud primitivism, achieving Schuldiner’s progression as he distanced himself from mere mortals is a formidable leap. But Exhumed mainman Matt Harvey and collaborators including Gus Rios of Malevolent Creation somehow create an album that works as both tribute and original art…” — Decibel

Twisted Prayers, the newest full-length from death metal defenders of the old GRUESOME, is out NOW via Relapse Records.

Stream it in full below or at THIS LOCATION.

If you missed it, view the band’s NSFW video for “Fatal Illusions” as well as the Jeffrey Sisson-directed video for “Inhumane” and lyric video for “A Waste Of Life” HERE.

GRUESOME recently partnered with Decibel Magazine to share their cover of “Legion Of Doom” by Chuck Schuldiner’s pre-Death project Mantas. The recording was included the June 2018 issue as a special pictured flexi disc. Stream the exclusive track at THIS LOCATION.

GRUESOME – featuring current and former members of Exhumed, Possessed, Malevolent Creation, and more – returns with its second full-length, Twisted Prayers. The eight-track offering follows Death’s paradigm shift during the Spiritual Healing era, incorporating more cerebral, melodic instrumentation with elements of thrash and thought-provoking, socially conscious lyrics. Recorded at New Constellation Studios in Orlando, Florida with producer Jarrett Pritchard (Exhumed, 1349, Goatwhore, Wolvhammer) who has been instrumental in crafting the band’s sonic homage, Twisted Prayers features GRUESOME doing what they do best across over forty minutes of unholy hymns with lurid melodies and vulgar atmospheres. The band has once again teamed up with the legendary artist Ed Repka (Death, Atheist, Massacre) for the album’s blasphemous cover art in addition to legendary Death guitarist James Murphy (Death, Obituary, Testament) for a pair of special guest guitar solos. Bow your heads and worship at the altar of GRUESOME!

GRUESOME‘s Twisted Prayers is available on CD, LP, deluxe LP, cassette, and digital formats via Relapse Records. Physical packages are available via Relapse.com HERE and digital downloads/streaming services at THIS LOCATION. On The Endless Howling Abyss, DRAGHKAR have turned up the intensity and unleashed violence in its most lethal form. The forthcoming EP is a harrowing journey through 20 minutes of pure Hell, inspired still by the classic fires of ABHORRENCE and AMORPHIS, but now flavored by an increasing influence from the oldest days of the Greek Black and Death Metal scenes, as well as MOLESTED, MERCYFUL FATE, and more.

Track Listing:

1. Traversing the Abyss
2. Swallowed by the Dark
3. Eternal Disintegration (Of The Body And Of The Mind)
4. Fading into Emptiness

DRAGHKAR:

BW – Guitar, Vocals
Daniel Kelley – Bass
ES – Drums

BAND BIO:

Draghkar was formed in 2016 by BW as an outlet for his love of death metal. Originally a tribute to the elder days of the Finnish death metal scene, they put out their first demo on cassette with Witchhammer Productions from Thailand in 2017. It was re-released by Blood Harvest Records later that year. After a series of lineup changes, Draghkar released a split with Desekryptor in the earlier half of 2018 and have come back now with their most ambitious and original output to date, a four track EP entitled The Endless Howling Abyss.

SATAN – Signs With Metal Blade Records

From Metal Blade Records:

Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the signing of long-time running NWOBHM legends Satan (Band) to its roster.

The heavy metal quintet has signed a multiple album deal with Metal Blade and has just finished recordings for their tentative new album to be released during the second half of 2018!

Comments Satan: “Metal Blade is part of Satan’s past and we are super excited for it to be part of our future. It seems so fitting, it’s hard to imagine another label that could give us a better platform for our music today.”

While standard bearers of the NWOBHM movement and responsible for ’83’s seminal Court In the Act and ’87’s Suspended Sentence, with their tentative new album Satan make it abundantly clear that in 2018 they are not interested in simply capitalizing on past glories. Comprised of 10 tracks of searing metal, it is blatantly and profoundly the work of the Newcastle upon Tyne natives at their very best, infusing their signature sound with a more raw, wild and spontaneous vibe than they showcased on 2015’s mighty Atom By Atom, in the process displaying more passion and energy than slews of bands half their age.

Having reunited in 2012 and returned to touring duty, Satan – comprised of six-stringers Russ Tippins and Steve Ramsey, bassist Graeme English, drummer Sean Taylor and vocalist Brian Ross – once more proved their collective mettle with 2013’s Life Sentence and follow-up Atom By Atom; both records critically acclaimed and maintaining the high standards of their earlier releases. With such a powerful collection in their hands the band were unsurprisingly eager to take it on the road, and they once again had successful tours and festival runs in Europe, North America and South America, culminating with a slot opening for Pentagram in Helsinki, which Tippins counts as a true honor.

Satan will unleash their latest batch of classical Heavy Metal songs in the second half of 2018. Be prepared for one of the best Metal albums of the year and stay tuned for more information about it!

LIZZY BORDEN – Returns With His First Album In 11 years, ‘My Midnight Things’

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Metal, Music, music news, news, world news with tags , , , , on April 23, 2018 by Metal Odyssey

Lizzy Borden - My Midnight Things - album cover - 2018 - #333ILMG332

From the Lizzy Borden facebook:

For decades, Lizzy Borden has been one of theatrical rock’s top front-men. And on June 15th, Borden will issue his first album in 11 years, My Midnight Things, via Metal Blade Records. With the hard n’ heavy tracks of the album opening title cut “Obsessed With You” and “The Scar Across My Heart”, the extended layoff between albums has not dulled his desire to rock and shock.

“Although we have stayed busy touring all over the world, I missed being a recording artist. I look at the new album as a new beginning, I pushed the restart button on my career,” Borden comments.

The album can be pre-ordered (and the “My Midnight Things” lyric video can be viewed) via this link: metalblade.com/lizzyborden – where the record is available in the following formats:

–limited 1st edition Digipak-CD (includes bonus tracks)
–jewelcase-CD
–180g black vinyl
–clear pacific blue marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–clear burgundy marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
–olive/black marbled vinyl (US exclusive – limited to 300 copies)
–opaque cool gray marbled vinyl (US exclusive – limited to 200 copies)
* exclusive bundles with a shirt, plus digital options are also available!

Having signed a new contract with Metal Blade on the strength of three demo tracks, Borden opted to produce My Midnight Things himself, with Joey Scott as co-producer, who also handled all the drumming duties. “I knew what I was going for and had doubts that I could find a producer who would understand that,” Borden explains. “My approach is very different than what is happening in today’s current sound.”

The album was also mixed by Greg Fidelman (Metallica, Black Sabbath, Adele, U2) and mastered by Tom Baker (David Bowie, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Tom Petty).

Borden is planning on hitting the road shortly. “I’ve already started working on the ‘My Midnight Things‘ show, and I really can’t wait to play these songs live,” Borden adds. “There are so many talented players out there in the world, I know I will find the right musicians to be on stage with me in my touring band in the new show. And just based on what is being talked about so far, it will be the best show I’ve ever done. I really do feel a new excitement that I have not felt in years. The best is yet to come.”
