BEHEMOTH – To Kick Off North American Tour With Special Guests At The Gates And Wolves In The Throne Room This Weekend

Polish black/death overlords BEHEMOTH will return to North America this weekend for their long-anticipated headlining tour. ENSIFERUM – Announces 2019 Path To Glory North American Headlining Tour

After nearly four years of absence, ENSIFERUM has announced a full North American headlining tour. Set to begin January 5th and run through January 29th, support will be provided by Septicflesh as well as an additional opener still to be announced.

Comments bassist Sami Hinkka: “It’s been way too many years since we rocked with our North American warrior brothers and sisters. So early 2019 we will set sails and head to your shores and we are not coming alone. We will join forces with a brilliant and ass kicking band, Septicflesh, and a special guest. What a way to start a new year! This tour will leave its mark on the history of metal so get your ticket in advance and get ready to mosh with us like there is no tomorrow. You can’t talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of ENSIFERUM, and with their latest album, Two Paths, they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. “When we made One Man Army (2015), we wanted it to sound more like a live album than a traditional studio album. With Two Paths, we took that to the next level with analog recording, cutting down tracks and even recording songs without a click, and because of that there is a totally different kind of groove compared to most modern metal albums,” notes Hinkka. DUNGEÖNHAMMER – “Infernal Moon” Out Now

DUNGEÖNHAMMER was formed by two maniacs – one from The Netherlands, the other France – who met while studying in Milan, Italy. What started as a friendship born from a shared passion of ’80s thrash and speed metal bands soon became the repulsive, two-headed beast known as DUNGEÖNHAMMER.

With Infernal Moon, DUNGEÖNHAMMER delivers pure filth, hypnotic, convulsion-inducing rhythms and an uncontrollable urge to bang your head. DUNGEÖNHAMMER rounds out this mayhem with vocals reminiscent of Tom G. Warrior’s Hammer ov Hell days and a nod to early ’90s Scandinavian death metal.

IRON MAIDEN – Remastered Studio Album Discography In Digipak Begins Release On November 16th!

MAIDEN’S ACCLAIMED REMASTERS GET THE CD DIGIPAK TREATMENT

Parlophone Records (BMG in the US) will continue their reissues series of the IRON MAIDEN catalogue with The Studio Collection – Remastered, covering the band’s sixteen-strong studio albums across their career to date.

Following on from 2014/2017’s black vinyl releases and 2015’s Mastered for iTunes project, The Studio Collection – Remastered will be released on the Digipak CD format, with the track listing matching the original UK releases. The recordings are taken from the same remasters as the 2015 hi-res digital releases. The albums will be released chronologically in batches of four, across a nine month period superseding the previously available studio catalogue and all titles will also be made available on streaming platforms. As a bonus for collectors, one CD from each batch of releases will also be optionally available in a specially artworked box featuring a 1:24 scale figurine and exclusive patch. In the November 16th batch, this will be The Number Of The Beast.

Maiden founder member and bassist Steve Harris says, “We’ve wanted to revisit these for a long time and I was delighted with the remastering we did in 2015. I thought it was the best that our albums have ever sounded and it was only right that we made them available on CD now too.”

On October 11th, 1986 – IRON MAIDEN performed at The Apollo Theatre in Manchester, UK. This was the Somewhere On Tour; in support of the Somewhere In Time album.

On October 11th, 1990 – IRON MAIDEN played at the Assembly Rooms in Derby, UK. This was a stop on the No Prayer On The Road Tour, in support of their studio album: No Prayer For The Dying.

Comments bassist/vocalist Denimal Blake: “It is a statement of our intent: To inject ‘Power’ back into a heavy metal scene that has been somewhat bereft of it. Whether if it truly is an objective case or not, that is our summary and the crux of the band. When heavy metal first gained a foothold it was the personification of musical power, a very special time that is finally coming back to strength, regardless of trends, due to its dominance.”

ROAD WARRIOR (who are rounded out by guitarist Overdryve and drummer Villon) are said to have recorded Power with “gusto, the gnashing teeth and thrusting of loins,” meaning, the album’s cuts are leaning heavily on the band’s ’80s influences as well as the proto-metal scene from the latter part of the ’70s. Says Blake: “Our influences are in a blender this time, laced with the flavor of ROAD WARRIOR, METAL CHURCH, BLACKKOUT, early IRON MAIDEN, SAVATAGE, JUDAS PRIEST, LOUDNESS, RIOT, TWISTED SISTER and HEXX.”

Accordingly, Blake says the album’s lyrical themes are quite varied: “Sex, sex and more sex, along with a bit of historical conspiracy, power, pre-diluvial civilization and hotter sex.” Tongue-and-cheek aside, Blake and his ROAD WARRIOR bandmates remain steadfast in their conviction to true heavy metal.

“We have an acute awareness of the NWOTHM [NEW WAVE OF TRADITIONAL HEAVY METAL] and know that we stand out in many ways, whether it’s due to influence, locality or pedigree. Either way, I cannot speak for the ears of others, but we are supremely confident the album will live up to the album cover and title and help usher in a new age of classic rock and metal as the trends dissolve.”

“This song is based on the urban legend of the North of Russia. It is about the freight train number 1702, which travels through the deep forests of Northern Europe. The song describes what is happening and the emotional feeling of the crew, including visual and sound design tools (the average tempo of the composition, like the train, guitar parts emphasize what the song is about, there are original sounds of the train). Band Bio:

Second To Sun is a metal band from Saint Petersburg, Russia, founded in 2012 by its guitarist Vladimir Lehtinen. Second To Sun concentrate on the musical and creative aspect more and use visual elements on every song (artwork, lyrics, behind the song infos etc.) to give more depth and back story to the music. The band’s music contains a blend of metal genres: on the one hand, it has the many rhythmic elements of groove metal; on the other hand, it continues the legacy of such classic Scandinavian black metal bands as Emperor, Mayhem, and Dakthrone.

Seattle-based classic heavy metal band GREYHAWK are gearing up for the release of their debut EP, Ride Out. Featuring six blazing tracks of trad metal in the vein of DIO, MANOWAR and BLIND GUARDIAN, GREYHAWK will self-release Ride Out on October 18th.

The EP’s first single, “The Abdication,” is streaming at this location and below:

Ride Out was recorded, mixed and mastered by Cody J Brumlow at Hangar 12 Studios, Mountlake Terrace, Washington. Album artwork by Jesse White.

The story of GREYHAWK begins in late 2016, when Jesse Berlin, a neoclassical shredder from New York, and Darin Wall, a proud rock warrior from the northern wastelands of Canada, joined forces in Seattle, Washington. Together they scoured the city for fellow warriors who were true enough to join their cause. After over a year of searching, reinforcements finally arrived in the form of Enrico Mariuzzo, another rock and roll shred demon all the way from Italy, and the booming operatic voice of Revere Taylor, who while dazzling audiences at Seattle Opera also yearned for heavy metal glory. The four gathered on the regular, crafting songs and planning their attack, and then finally the last piece of the puzzle arrived from across the Cascade Mountains in the form of the powerhouse drummer Nate Butler.  After many hours of blood and sweat, GREYHAWK entered the studio, employing the expertise of audio wizard Cody J Brumlow to forge their debut EP, Ride Out.  Now they set out to bring their brand of heavy metal to the unsuspecting masses…

Two years after their last full-length, ZEALOTRY are back with their newest offering (and first with Unspeakable Axe Records), titled At The Nexus Of All Stillborn Worlds. The album will be released on December 7th.

This is progressive death metal at its most uncompromising; dense with intricate riffs, elaborate bass lines, mind-melting lead guitar work and more. Clean choral vocals add a Timeghoul-ish aspect to certain songs; in other places, bewildering effects occasionally will warp a track into an aural acid trip. Elaborate structures occasionally peel back to reveal a Chasm-inspired melodic development.

Featuring a member of Chthe’ilist and influenced by a broad palette of death metal explorers including At the Gates, Obliveon, Brutality, and Atheist, At The Nexus Of All Stillborn Worlds is a dizzying new peak in ZEALOTRY’s 13-year history. PIAH MATER SIGN WITH CODE666

Brazilian progressive death metal band PIAH MATER are pleased to announce that they have signed with legendary Italian label code666 to release their forthcoming album The Wandering Daughter on October 5th 2018.

Vocalist Luiz Felipe Netto commented: “Code666 has been the cradle of many great bands that went on to later become household names in their niche. We are very honored by this opportunity and looking forward to seize it in the best possible way.”

He further explains that “Although it’s not a concept album per se, “The Wandering Daughter” does have a common theme throughout its entirety, a thread that connects its 6 songs into a sensorial unity. On a musical level, we aimed for that feeling of being taken on a journey, with its many pitfalls and climaxes along the record’s 56 minutes of play. Lyric-wise, that thread would be the relationship between man/ woman and nature. I understand that, at a first glance, this is not exactly groundbreaking territory for a band to explore in their songs, plenty of artists have delved into this topic before. But I do believe that, when crafting lyrics, perspective is everything and that the way this subject is presented stems from a very genuine and intimate place. I hope that comes across to the listeners as well.”

Russian Metal trio SECOND TO SUN are proud to announce the release of The Black, a reissue of the Blackbound (2016) album, which was re-recorded to add vocals, among several other enhancements.  

The Black was released on May 16. It can be purchased at this location and is streaming in its entirety on SECOND TO SUN’s  Bandcamp page and YouTube Channel. Guitarist, bassist, and mastermind of the project, Vladimir Lehtinen released the following statement concerning The Black:

“Being the child of my thoughts, this album is the true face of the band – a well-fused combination of melodic black metal and groove metal the way we see it. As always, the album includes a separate unique story behind each song.”

“Our ambitions were through the roof on this release – we re-recorded and improved the lines for all the instruments, including the drums, bass, and even addinig some extra guitars, while Gleb’s [Sysoev] vocals sound as massive and crushing as always. Honesty and a natural aggressive sound are the qualities that distinguish independent artists from purely commercial ones these days, and we are happy that we can create music for the sake of art and not for just raking in some cash. We hope that our sound, punchy and somewhat scary, like a gust of cold northern wind in a seemingly empty home in the middle of the night will let you get fully immersed in the atmosphere that we embedded in the music – nine different stories related to darkness. Band Bio:

Second To Sun is a metal band from Saint Petersburg, Russia, founded in 2012 by its guitarist Vladimir Lehtinen. Unlike many modern metal bands, who tend to gain fans and spread their music using a more visual element – live performances, music videos, band image, etc., Second To Sun try to concentrate on the musical aspect more and use visual elements (artwork, etc.) to give more depth and back story to the music. The band’s music contains a unique blend of metal genres: on the one hand, it has the many rhythmic elements of groove metal; on the other hand, it continues the legacy of such classic Scandinavian black metal bands as Emperor, Mayhem, and Dakthrone.

Such diverse musical roots of the band protrude from Vladimir Lehtinen’s songwriting, Gleb Sysoev’s soul-crushing vocals and Fedor Borovsky’s groovy drum lines. The band releases two versions of each album – the vocal and the instrumental one.
